“Michele and her wonderful daughter took such good care of my little one. They sent pictures daily to show she was doing well and she was available for questions. It put me at ease knowing my sweet dog was safe and loved while I was away!”

About: I’ve had pets my whole life and looked after multiple people’s pets while they have been away. I would be happy to help with your pet care needs! I am currently a stay at home wife and would love to add pet care to my daily routine! I am available all the time as well as flexible with rates! I live in an apartment with 2 lovely cats who enjoy company. I am also available to travel to your home as well for pet care!

About: There have also been pets in my house and I have also made myself available to pet sit for friends and family. I am flexible in when and how to care for your smallest or largest family member. I am a runner so I would love to have a buddy join me on a run, jog, or even a walk. I can care for your pup at my house or your house which ever one you would be comfortable with. At the moment I can be open anytime of the week, and visiting houses multiple times in the day to ensure that your furry friend feelings loved and cared for throughout the day. Whether that's a potty break, a snack, or a big ole tummy rub. I’m a teacher on summer break though I do have a part time evening job that starts at 430 my husband comes home at 4 and probably loves dogs even more than me. I have a large fenced backyard and plenty of room in my house for exploring. We do have a small rescue Chihuahua, but she is friendly and very kind.
“They were absolutely wonderful and super nice. They took Reggie on short notice but gave him all sorts of love and cuddles. Their dogs upon first meeting did not react negatively with our dog and was not territorial at all. We got text notifications from them and they sent photos before bed to let us know how he’s doing. We felt super comfortable leaving our pup with them. If I lived in the Roanoke area they would absolutely be my number one choice every time! I cannot express how grateful I am for them.”

“Our dog Gatsby just got home from another wonderful experience with Samantha and Olivia. Gatsby had such an amazing time getting to cuddle and play with Olivia again. We can already tell that Gatsby will be excited to visit her favorite dog sitter again in the future! -Stacie, Chris and Gatsby”

“All of Jody’s reviews live up to the hype! I was so worried about someone new watching my dog with separation anxiety, but he didn’t even want to leave! My dogs love Jody, and I see why. She truly cares about the quality of their stay. Thank you so much Jody!”

“I am always hesitant to leave my dogs at a kennel because of the thought of having them locked up in a kennel all day or getting sick from other dogs. I am so happy to have found Pam. Roscoe, my boxer, stayed with Pam during our beach vacation. I felt much more at ease on vacation knowing Roscoe was well taken care of and having a blast at her gorgeous home. I received updates with pictures each night. I would highly recommend her services for your dogs while you are away. From the adorable pictures of Roscoe taken by Pam while we were away, he made himself right at home. Thank you so much Pam!!”

About: I began volunteering at my local animal shelter at the age of 9 and have been caring for animals ever since. I have 20 years experience pet sitting for neighbors and I have my own 6 year old pitbull, Cleo, so I’m no stranger to energetic dogs. I’m a teacher, so my summers give me full flexibility to care for your animals! I love to walk dogs on local greenways and trails. I have a fenced in backyard where your dog can play. If they like to play with a buddy, my dog will be their best friend!

About: I’ve taken care of my own dog and watched my neighbors dog, making sure they are well fed, get enough time outside and feel loved while their families are away! I’m currently doing odd jobs over the summer and because of this, I am able to spend a lot of time with your pets! I will be out of the house periodically but will not be out longer than 3-4 hours at a time. I keep a clean and pet-friendly environment at home with plenty of space to relax and a backyard to run around and enjoy time outside. My family will also love spending time with your pet and giving them lots of attention!
About: The house my parents moved into when I was only 4 weeks old was unfortunately a dumping ground for unwanted animals. Before I could even walk, I was cuddling with any animal that showed up at our door. This instilled a passion within me that I can finally turn into a profession. From Rescue and fostering to training dogs and showing horses, animals have always been a huge part of my life. In addition to my Management degree, I have an Associate of Science Degree with a major in Animal Science and a specialization in Agriculture. I completed an AKC handlers’ course which focused on reading your dog’s body language to understand their needs. Being so heavily involved in rescue, I have history and experience in dealing with reactive and/or selective dogs. I have many safety features depending on the animals needs including crates, double hung baby gates and 6 ft chain link fence that is separated into two yards. After a successful 25year business management career, I am now turning my lifetime passion of animal care into a profession. This year I started up my own business, "G'MA DOES". I offer a range of services from dog walking and pet sitting to animal waste removal. I like to stay active! While I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge from multiple trainers, what I hold most dear is the ongoing information I take in from animal behaviorists such as Cesar Millan. Remember, when you first meet a strange dog practice NO TOUCH, NO TALK, NO EYE CONTACT! *LICENSED, INSURED, AND ACCREDITED WITH THE BBB!* (GMA Does, LLC) In my house we call it "FURniture" for a reason. However, I also believe all dogs (like children) needs rules, boundries and limitations. I find puppies, adolescent, and destructive dogs are actually happier if they are contained in my absense. Whether that means crated or in an outdoor yard depends entirely up to what they are used to. I offer personal in-home boarding so they feel my house is their "home away from home". I will maintain their normal routine as close to if not exactly. I have multiple crates in a range of sizes so if your baby is used to being crated, I got you covered! I also have baby gate hinges at every doorway to use as needed. My entire backyard is about a half an acre that is fenced in with a 6 ft chain length fence. I have it separated into two secured areas for exercise with the larger of the two having access to a dog door. Inside, one room is a dedicated cat room for litterboxes toys etc. The other two bedrooms will be dedicated safe spaces used for play, overnight stays, or whatever the situation calls for.

About: I’ve had dogs, usually multiple ones, living with me for my entire life. I just so enjoy being with them and I have a very flexible work schedule so I can always help take care of your furry friend! I work from home and can always set my own schedule so I can be available almost anytime. I will make it a priority to take care of your dog. I have a pig named Beaker living with me and he has a wonderful personality and lives all other dogs. I’ll happily follow any directions you have for your baby and live to play with dogs in any fashion.
“Gretchen is an excellent sitter. Our dogs always have a great time with her and come back happy and tired from all the playing :) she is very professional and accommodating for drop off and pick up. It’s so easy to work with her. We will definitely be using her again.”

“Selena was an 11th hour request and she accommodated me and my little ones with no issues at all. Selena kept all 3 of my dogs for 3.5 days and they enjoyed their time with her. She kept me posted with pictures and an update. She asked questions if she saw something odd and she let me know how they were doing. I would not have gone on vacation had I not felt comfortable with our first conversation where she told me that she allows the dogs to roam the house and be part of the family. ❤️ if you book with Selena, you can have peace of mind! I'll be booking with her again, no doubt!”

About: I love caring for dogs and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy while their owners are away. I’m patient with dogs of all sizes and personalities and always follow feeding schedules, provide regular potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention so every dog feels at home. I currently have a very flexible schedule and am available most days of the week, including weekends. This allows me to give pets plenty of attention, regular potty breaks, walks, and playtime throughout the day. I’m happy to work with different schedules and last-minute bookings whenever possible I make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Since I don’t have a fenced yard, I take dogs on regular walks for exercise, potty breaks, and fresh air. I also provide plenty of attention, playtime, and follow the pet’s normal feeding schedule and routines. My goal is to make pets feel relaxed and at home while their owners are away.
“Sydney was wonderful with both my mini schnauzers. She took care of their every need and gave them lots of love. We have rebooked with her for several more dates and will continue to book with her for boarding in her home.”

“Maribel was great with the dogs. Their facilities are clean and comfortable. They have great places to walk and play with the dogs. I would definitely board with them again.”

I hit the jackpot when I found Katie. I was so nervous about leaving my Labradoodle with someone overnight. She sent me updates and pictures the entire time he was with her to put me at ease. She was so attentive to him as well, especially since he’s so shy. I will definitely book her again for Bert. She was so good with him.

I'll be booking with her again, no doubt!

We just used Rebecca for our first long trip since getting established with her. She experienced a death in the family while we were gone. She coordinated with our emergency contact to hand off care of our Beagle so she could attend the funeral, but I have no doubt that she would have missed the funeral rather than leave us in a bind while we were in Europe. Her exceptional care of LuLu is surpassed only by her personal integrity. Thank you, Rebecca, for your communication and dependability. We had confidence that you would handle this situation seamlessly, and you did.

Bailey was Amazing!!! We were worried about leaving our dog as he gets nervous when his routine is changed, especially overnight, but Bailey kept him calm and happy. He was very comfortable and looked quite at home when we picked him up which is the first time we ever saw him so chill. She sent regular updates and videos to assure us he was doing well the entire stay. I highly highly recommend her and we will definitely use her again!!! She is the best!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
