I have a lot of experiences with different levels of anxieties and stressors especially in new environments. I will provide a comfortable and cozy home to help the dogs relax.
“Emily is a great pet sitter! Delta is scared of fireworks and Emily went above and beyond to care for her during the new years celebrations. Great communication. Highly recommend.”

“McKenanne took great care of my dog and was good about communicating before and during my dog's stay. Her two dogs were very friendly which helped to make my dog more comfortable and happy.”

“My boys love Marah and her crew! She looks after them as if they were her own and we’ll joyfully drive the little extra to make sure she’s the one watching them. She also somehow gets the best facial expressions in pictures which is worth the booking alone.”

“I can’t enough great things about Maribel. It was my first time boarding my precious Nanni. She was so very reassuring and she went out of her way to take great care and make Nanni feel at home. I will definitely be using Maribel again. You have a real gem with her.”

About: I’ve always been the person who stops to say hi to every dog I pass and always at the cat section at the pet stores. I’ve cared for my own pets for years and have experience with dogs and cats of different ages, sizes, and personalities. I know how hard it can be to leave your pet with someone else, so I do my best to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Whether your pet wants to play all day or just curl up next to someone, I’ll make sure they get the attention and care they deserve. I’ll also send plenty of updates and photos because I know I’d want the same for my own pets. Pet care fits easily into my routine because spending time with animals is something I genuinely enjoy. I have a flexible schedule and can make time for walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, and whatever else your pet needs throughout the day. I understand how important consistency is, so I’ll do my best to stick to your pet’s normal routine to help them feel comfortable and stress free I know that trusting someone with your pet is a big deal. I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own and always put their safety and comfort first. I’ll carefully follow any instructions you provide, keep a close eye on your pet, and make sure they feel secure and cared for at all times. I’m also a big believer in communication, so you’ll receive updates and photos throughout their stay so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands.
“Katie and her family were very welcoming when we did the meet and greet. It gave us a lot of confidence in leaving our dog with them for a week! She was very communicative and sent us photos. We would definitely use her again!”

“Donna took such wonderful care of our babies while we were on vacation. I did not worry one minute about them because she let me know how they were doing and sent me plenty of pictures. Donna not only cared for their physical needs, but I also know that she showed them nurturing love by the sweet comments she made about them and their personality traits. We will certainly use Donna for future needs when it comes to carrying for our babies!”

“David was awesome with our very high energy, sometimes challenging, yet sweet Calvin. David sent us reports and pictures every day which made our trip that much more relaxing and put our minds at ease. We couldn't be more grateful to David and his excellent care of our boy while we were on the road. We recommend David 100% and hope to call on him again. Thank you, David!”
About: Some of my pet experience includes bathing dogs, taking care of dogs for friends, having my own dog who i care for, and loving all animals. I’ve trained my dog to for certain commands which i believe is very helpful. All my friends come to me when they need someone to take care of their fur babies! I am a college student with a work load, however no job. A lot of my days are spent in my home doing homework and pet care fits into my schedule because I can always be there to play and take you pets out. I don’t have very long classes either or in a big stretch so your pay would be cared for almost 24/7 I care for pets as if they were my children haha! In my home, I have bowls, treats, and toys for your pets. In your home, I would respect the space and take care of your pet as if it were my own.
“She's definitely easy to communicate with. Left my kitty cat with her last Thanksgiving and she welcomed with open arms. I'm sure my baby had fun with her. Thanks for having her!”

About: We enjoy having a dog. We do walks, sniff games, chicken broth ice cubes for happy hour in our fenced in yard. We want your dog to feel like they are on vacation when they are with us. They might be spoiled when we give them back. Sorry about that. My husband is fully retired and I have a hybrid position. At least one person will be home to attend to your fur babies needs. We enjoy taking care of a dog. There are no children or pets in our non smoking home. We have a fenced in yard and a nice neighborhood for taking walks. We also have an Apple air tag to put on your dogs collar. We enjoy being outside with your dog in the yard.
About: I began volunteering at my local animal shelter at the age of 9 and have been caring for animals ever since. I have 20 years experience pet sitting for neighbors and I have my own 6 year old pitbull, Cleo, so I’m no stranger to energetic dogs. I’m a teacher, so my summers give me full flexibility to care for your animals! I love to walk dogs on local greenways and trails. SCHOOL YEAR UPDATE: I’m still happy to provide boarding, walking, and drop in visits outside of school hours. I am unable to be home or care for pets from 7am-3pm each day. If your dog can be left for 8 hours, boarding continues to be available during the school year. I have a fenced in backyard where your dog can play. If they like to play with a buddy, my dog will be their best friend!
“Penny and Evan took for care of our elderly dog and made our first experience on Rover pleasant! It was a bit confusing at first, but the meet and greet was wonderful and a good time to ask questions. We have booked them again for Christmas!”

“Natalie did a great job taking care of Bodo! He loved all the walks she took him on and she did a great job of dealing with his anxiety. She kept me updated with pictures the whole time and I knew he was in good hands!”

“This was my first time using Rover, and Erin and Matthew were incredible! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I chose them based on their reviews, and I’m genuinely happy to add another glowing one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have two pups, and I had complete peace of mind throughout my trip—which is priceless. They sent daily photos and videos with thoughtful updates. 🐶🐶 They have a huge fenced-in yard and Moose & Jake loved the freedom they had to explore. I encountered some winter weather complications and my return was delayed, but they were understanding, flexible, and stayed in constant communication. They’re professional, responsible, and clearly care a lot about the dogs they watch. I’m so grateful for such a positive experience, and I absolutely look forward to booking with them again.”

“Deann was great with communication and sending us updates, and she took care of our dogs very nicely. Dropping them off and picking them up was a breeze, would gladly use her service again. Thanks so much!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
