“Gail stayed with our 2 poodles while we were away. She kept us well informed of their daily activities. I couldn’t be more pleased with how she made us feel at ease as our sitter.”

“Jackie stepped in to help us with a last minute two-week house sitting request. She was amazing with our yellow lab, Dakota, and took excellent care of our home. She sent us daily photos and updates to ease our minds while we were out of the country. We are so grateful we found her and have already rebooked her for our next trip. Highly recommend this wonderful, responsible dog lover 🐾”

“Katelyn does such an amazing job every time she watches my cat! She takes excellent care of her and kept me updated with photos during the stay, which really kept me at ease while I was away. It’s obvious Katelyn genuinely loves animals and treats them as her own. Everything went smooth, communication was prompt, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring Rover sitter!”

“Lyla was fantastic. She was able to check on Blaze a few times during the day and even kept him company at night. She took him for walks which he loves. She even put up with all of his talking! She sent me photos to show how happy he was. I would highly recommend Lyla. If I need a dog sitter again, there is no question that I would use Lyla!”

“Ginine was amazing. She stayed at our house with our 2 dogs, one being 10 months old. She took great care of the dogs and even cleaned up the house! I would highly recommend her to anyone.”

“There aren't enough posititve words to describe Shelley. She is amazing. Benson loved every minute with her. She was very communicative and sent lots of pics and movies. She willingly got up at 4:30am for his morning walks before the heat set in. She went above and beyond with the way she left the house so clean. I was really able to enjoy my vacation because I didn't have to worry about Benson. She will be our sitter from now on!”

About: Along with raising our 5 year old Golden Retriever, I have 20+ years of dog-sitting experience and have been a Rover sitter since 2021. I’m comfortable with many different breeds and sizes having watched anything from Daschaunds to St. Bernard’s. I’ve also been highly referred by numerous clients that are satisfied with my services. Check out the Reviews section to see all the feedback from clients that booked with me! I have a flexible schedule during the week & the weekend which allows me to spend quality time with your pup giving them top-notch care and all the attention needed to ensure they are comfortable throughout their stay. My wife Kelly also works from home full-time so between the two of us your pup will be in good hands and taken care of throughout all times of the day. My wife and I adore our 5 year old Golden Retriever and pamper him daily. We play fetch with him and go on a lot of walks so we’re well-versed on caring for an active dog if that’s the type of personality your pup has. When we’re not outdoors being active, you’ll most likely find Gus snoozing on the couch or flat on his back requesting a belly rub so if your pup is less-crazy and a little more lazy we cater to that, too. He gets along great with other dogs and has made a handful of new Rover buds since we started sitting so he’ll be excited to meet you and your pup! I know that boarding a pet can be a stressful time for you as well as your animal, I’ll make sure to check in with daily updates and pictures of your furry family member to keep you posted on how they are doing. I’ll make myself available 24-7 during the boarding so whether its an urgent emergency, an unexpected flight cancellation, or you’re relaxing on the beach and just want to know what your dog is up to, feel free to call/text/message me anytime day or night.
“Linda was great! Our dogs don’t just take to anybody-they really like her! She provided great care overnight for several days for our 2 girls and our chickens as well. :) I would highly recommend Linda!”

About: In high school I held a job as a vet technician for 2+ years. I’ve owned and trained two dogs (husky and lab, currently not with me) I have dog sat on and off for 15 years. I love to stay active, so whether it’s a walk or run, your pup will certainly meet their daily step goals. I work two part time jobs and come home a lot during the day. Both of my work schedules are flexible and allow me to create my own hours. I live in a condo with an enclosed patio, which makes entering my home safe for coming and going. Pets cannot dash without meeting a closed gate. When carrying for pets at clients home, I am sure to follow house rules.

“Justin stayed with our 4 dogs and one cat for a week while we went on a cruise. He sent tons of updates and videos as well as texts. Both of our elderly dogs needed medication twice a day too. We really appreciate the care he took of our crew-we would highly recommend him!!!”

“Lauren took great care of our dog and home while we were out of town. She is very responsible and clearly loves dogs! She will be our first call when we are in need of someone to housesit again.”

“Ash was amazing with our two boys! We have a cane corso and a frenchie and we were super nervous to have someone new watch our pups and they loved her! She even left little treats, a handwritten note, and two beautiful handmade pictures of our pups! So thoughtful and she’s so professional and kind. Highly recommend!”

“Our experience with Darion was great! Our dog is shy with new people, but she warmed up to Darion quickly. Darion was very responsive when I texted her with questions and she sent updates and pictures every day (as requested). She took our pup on long walks, to the beach, and out to cafes during the day. She watered our plants and took out the trash for us and for our elderly neighbor. She even offered to stay later than planned when our flight home was delayed. Darion left shortly before we got home, so I didn’t get to see our dog interact with her. But our dog seemed healthy and happy and the house was in good shape. I would recommend Darion!”

“Fabulous. Patrick stayed at my house with my very fireworks-averse pups while I worked new years eve and was a total life saver. He was very communicative every step of the way and made sure they were well loved and cared for. He sent pictures and updates throughout the night and left the house exactly as he found it. Both my cat and dog are generally very hateful towards strangers and men, but both of them loved him immediately. Huge green flag. Will definitely be repeat customers.”

“Ashely and Benjamin were exceptional! They went above and beyond just taking care of our dog. They showed her a lot of love and even took her for a grooming. We will definitely keep asking Ashely and Ben to take care of our dog.”

“Cheylee is amazing! HIGHLY recommend for any dog/house sitting needs. She is so sweet and made sure to send my husband and I plenty of pictures and updates while we were away on vacation. Our dogs had so much fun with Cheylee. We’re excited to have her stay and take care of our babies again!”

“Aayana was great to work with and the cats/house were well taken care of. She was incredibly flexible when we had inclement weather affect our travel plans and we will definitely use her again in the future!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Carefree is $50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Carefree
We all liked Zach, especially Nova. When we interviewed him; by the end of the visit Nova was lying by his feet. That the the deciding factor. We hired him. He was on time, took Nova to her happy place which is the dog park & did what we asked of him. We're happy to recommend him to find a happy dog when you come home.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Carefree on Rover is $86.58 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carefree walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carefree maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carefree choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Carefree. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
