“We had a wonderful experience with Jacky! She stayed in our home and took great care of our 2 chihuahuas, keeping them happy & comfortable while we were away. She sent daily pictures and updates, which gave me so much peace of mind. I will absolutely be using Jacky in the future!”

About: I have been pet sitting/dog walking for many years. My youngest has just graduated high school so I have a very free schedule. I have owned dogs and cats most of my life. I currently have an Irish Wolfhound and a small Pit Bull. I have spent many hours volunteering at the Humane Society and fostering. I am a stay at home mom in Cave Creek. My youngest has just graduated from high school so my schedule is quite free. I am available for drops in’s, walks/hikes, and overnights. I own an Irish Wolfhound and a pitbull mix. I am very active and run daily with my dogs. I am able to take dogs on long walks or hikes. I am comfortable with any size breed. I am respectful of any pet rules/schedules and follow accordingly.
“Great experience from start to finish! Katelyn was professional, communicative, and clearly cared about my pet. I got regular updates and photos, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. My pet was happy and well cared for, and everything was just as I left it when I got back. I will definitely be booking with Katelyn again and highly recommend her!”

“Lyla was fantastic. She was able to check on Blaze a few times during the day and even kept him company at night. She took him for walks which he loves. She even put up with all of his talking! She sent me photos to show how happy he was. I would highly recommend Lyla. If I need a dog sitter again, there is no question that I would use Lyla!”

About: 𐂂。⋆ I’ve had a love for animals since I was young! The adults around me have trusted me around their animals due to my deep love for educating myself on their animals needs and respecting said animals boundaries. Animals are more than just pets, they have their own personalities, choices, emotions, that deserve to be cared for just as much as humans do. It’s that empathy towards all creatures, big or small, that has drawn me to their care. I’ve sat my own pets (dogs, lizards, birds) throughout my life as well as family members, neighbors, friends (as well as done a lot of equestrian work), so I’ve had a lot of time around animals! I’d love to be able to care for yours in the same way💜 ☆。⋆ I’m currently on summer break until the end of September, which frees up my schedule overall and allows me to be pretty open to caring for your animals at any time! ☽。⋆ I’m very by the book, whatever you say goes! I’m ready to follow your schedule and daily routines in order to ensure that your animals feel more secure in their home while you’re away.
About: We live in a clean home, in a safe community. We have (1) yellow lab that would like a friend to play with during the day. Doggy door available, feed, clean, and walk the dogs, we do it all. We have a pool at another location that we would be happy to take a dog or two, if they like to swim. I currently work from home and have an endless amount of time to feed and throw toys. We have cameras around the home for added security. I have a fenced yard. Dogs are contained within the property, unless on a leash on a walk or on a car ride. Safety is our biggest concern. I work from home and have plenty of time to throw toys and play with the dogs. There is a doggie door and fenced yard to play in. I have a fenced/walled yard with a doggie door. We do not have a pool or anything dangerous in the yard. Dogs are allowed to come and go as they like, unless we are told different by you. We allow dogs on the furniture and in the beds if they like.
“Victoria was absolutely amazing again!! She took such wonderful care of my dog, gave him plenty of exercise, love, and care! Cared for my home like it was her own and went above and beyond for me!! She is so incredible, I will 100% book her again and again!!”

“Scott was an incredible dog sitter! We have two dogs — one elderly and one very high energy — plus a cat, and he handled all of them so well. He sent lots of great photos and updates throughout our trip, which gave us so much peace of mind. When we got home, the house looked fantastic, and it was clear our pets had been very well cared for. Beyond that, Scott is just a genuinely great person. We were so happy with him and will definitely use him again!”

“Ash was amazing with our two boys! We have a cane corso and a frenchie and we were super nervous to have someone new watch our pups and they loved her! She even left little treats, a handwritten note, and two beautiful handmade pictures of our pups! So thoughtful and she’s so professional and kind. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve owned animals my whole life, including cats, dogs, bunnies, birds, and even turtles. So I am well rounded in my pet experience! I have owned senior animals as well and I have even taken care of animals with special needs. Pet care is a regular part of my day. I get up in the morning to feed, water and exercise my animals, and continue to do so multiple times throughout the day. I always approach new animals with caution. I’m gentle and kind and I allow them to approach me. I will ensure they get proper care and that they feel comfortable during the duration of the time that I am with them.
About: I have had a dog and a cat since I was four and understand the responsibilities of feeding, grooming, playing with them. I know how to navigate their doctor appointments and how to manage a problem with a pet. I don’t just believe pets should just be fed, walked, let out to use the bathroom, I believe they should also get love and comfort when their guardians are away I am on summer break so I have a lot of free time. I love walking my own dog and taking care of my pets when I am home. I walk my dog twice a day, feed both her and my cat in the mornings and afternoons. I make sure their water is full, that their beds are where they’re supposed to be, and that they are comfortable. I always greet them when I come home, or say goodbye to them when i leave
“Emily was a great caretaker for my dog Hendrix! She provided me with updates throughout the couple of days and sent me a bunch of photos. I could tell my dog really loved her 😊 thank you Emily!”

“Ashely and Benjamin were exceptional! They went above and beyond just taking care of our dog. They showed her a lot of love and even took her for a grooming. We will definitely keep asking Ashely and Ben to take care of our dog.”

“Linda took great care of our pets over a long weekend. It gave me peace of mind to know she was staying at the house. I would highly recommend her to other! Thank you Linda!”

“Nicole went above and beyond our expectations. Our fur babies were in such caring hands while we were away. I would highly recommend and will definitely contact Nicole for future services.”

About: I was a vet technician for almost 3 years up until recently! I now work as a Business Development Manager for a start up company! I am available every day of the work week except, Saturdays and Sundays. I love both cats/dogs and have worked with all breeds and sizes. I have prior knowledge of medication and knowledge of post surgical care. I am quick on my feet and very loving! I have knowledge on how to handle skittish cats or dogs and I am very patient. I will take my time to earn your pets’ trust to make sure that they are comfortable with me. I have been raised around cats and dogs ever since I was a child and I am very fond of animals! I am not nervous around breeds like Rottweilers or pitbulls, because I have been around both. I will NOT work with dogs that have shown aggression or have previously bitten people. I am happy to answer any other questions you may have! I’m a Business Development Manager and I work daily, so I’m unavailable in the early mornings to late afternoons around 5. Any rules you have set for me to ensure that I take the best care of your animals! I will follow guidelines and walk details!
“Cheylee was absolutely lovely! She took meticulous care of our 2 dogs and a cat, and our home. Our senior dog had special needs and she went above and beyond caring for him and sending us daily updates and pictures. She left our home cleaner than we left it. I will hire her again in a heartbeat and I would highly recommend her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Carefree
We couldn’t be happier with the care our dogs received. They were walked exactly according to the schedule — and even got a couple of extra outings, which they absolutely loved. We also appreciated the regular photo updates; it was great seeing our pups happy and relaxed while we were away. The house was left spotless, and Katie even went above and beyond by washing the sheets and towels before leaving. What really stood out, though, was the initiative and care shown when a water leak appeared in our RO faucet. She took the time to call, walk through the issue with me over the phone, and help troubleshoot the clogged drain line. That level of responsibility and effort is rare and incredibly appreciated. Truly outstanding service from start to finish.

Linda is great! This was our first time using Linda, she is a great communicator and anticipated all of our needs. Linda stayed at our house for five nights, she is very clean and tidy. I can tell that Izzy my Chihuahua loved her and we will be using her again.

Kyli was great. She asked great questions in our meet and greet which made me feel confident having her watch my pup. She kept me updated and was quick to respond when I checked in while I was away. She left my place clean and tidy as well. She took great care of my pup and I came back to a happy and healthy girl!

FAQs for House Sitting - Carefree
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Carefree on Rover is $88.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,983 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Carefree. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carefree walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carefree maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carefree choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Carefree. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
