“Stacy took such good care of our kitten, Kona, while we were away. It was our first time leaving her alone and Stacy made sure we felt as comfortable as possible, sending us multiple updates per day with details on how she was doing and photos. She made sure she got lots of playtime in and kept her food, water and litter fresh. She took care of our baby just as she would her own. Highly recommend!”

About: With three years of experience in the veterinary field and starting at the age of 18 , I have successfully advanced from kennel assistant to receptionist and now to veterinary assistant. Having grown up caring for a wide variety of animals, dogs, cats, fishes, hamsters I have developed a lifelong passion for animal care. Please keep in mind that I work 10-hour shifts on my working days, so I am unable to drop in for midday lunch or bathroom breaks. However, I am available for breakfast and dinner visits. To ensure I provide the best care for your pet while you are away, I ask for pet parents to write down or print out an instruction sheet for me including details like: - Pet Care & Activities: Any specific routines or activities you would like me to do with their pet. - Medication (if applicable): The exact name, dosage, and schedule. - House Duties: Tasks like taking out the trash if needed or picking up after your pet in the yard .

About: I have had around thirteen years of cat care experience, having owned four cats, a tarantula, and a snake throughout my entire life, and currently volunteer at an animal shelter. I have had a lot of opportunities to learn how to take care of cats and their body languages, so I am very experienced with knowing when to back off or if a cat wants love or pets; I also know what to look out for to prevent cat fights from happening or how to break one up. Although most of my experience is in cats, I am always open to learning new things or how to take care of dogs, and I am always willing to walk your dog or house sit for them because I am someone who loves animals and will never shy away from a chance to meet them! I am still a student right now, so I am only free in the afternoons and evenings during the weekdays (school generally from 7:30 AM-4:00 PM), but I am totally free on weekends (minus 2-5 PM on Saturdays where I volunteer). I am also looking to get a part time job so my schedule might shift around. I will happily send you pictures or video updates of your puppies or kittens, and I am also extremely willing to play with them using their favorite toys, and I don’t mind spending extra time for snuggling sessions while I’m there! ❤️ My house is usually very quiet save for the occasional cara passing by, and the cats are allowed to wander about and do whatever they want. I will also never try to force an interaction with a cat if the cat does not want it. I brush and groom my cats if the opportunity comes up, and is open to snuggling with a cat anytime 🥰
About: I’ve been taking care of animals since I was a kid. I grew up with dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, chickens, and fish. I’m exited to meet your fur babies! I’m a part time college student so I’ll be available most of the week and weekends. I’m available for drop ins as long as 2 hours and I can stop by up to 3 times per day:) I can board most days of the week. While boarding I can feed, play, walk or groom your pet if needed. I will ensure your pet is happy and safe as well.
“It made our camping trip much more enjoyable, knowing that our cats were under the care of an experience sitter. Everything went well and I appreciate the photos that she sent each morning. Chanel is very friendly and responsive, and I recommend her.”

“This was my first time using Rover and couldn't have been happier with finding Toya. I had to change my work trip and she was easy to work with on my changes and needs. I added a drop in for my other dog to for a walk and she was available and dropped in no problem! HIGHLY recommend to keep your trips relaxed knowing your dogs are well taken care of.”

“I can’t say enough great things about Kai!!! This is my first experience using Rover as I did not want to put my boys in a kennel while I was away for a few days. Since my pups are a bit senior I wanted them to be in the comfort of their own home. Kai saw my boys twice a day, was consistent and timely and great at communicating with me how everything was going every time he saw them. I was a little nervous initially with allowing someone in my home while I was out of town, but Kai is completely trustworthy and made sure to lock everything up in between his visits. I HIGHLY recommend Kai for taking care of your pet(s) when you have to be away from them :)”

“Kiyarash was awesome! He responds super quickly and it was easy to set up a meet and greet. He gave great updates and sent photos of both of our cats. We will be using him for our future needs!!”

So sweet and good with cats! Rachel is also the best at getting cute photos which also show that instructions were followed - she got one of my cat's paw opening a specific door, showing that the correct cat had been shut in the correct area and that the kitty had opened the door herself, as it was supposed to go! Rachel even managed trio shots of my three cats. She also dealt with my (very annoying) gate and door with grace, and swapped the bag in the litter robot and brought it down to the trash! I'll definitely be keeping her in mind for future trips!

Meghan has been great as a pet sitter for my cats! After I left for vacation, I realized it was going to be really hot out for a couple days so I contacted Meghan and explained I needed her to set up a couple Fans and open the sliding doors a bit for better air circulation and set out more water for my cats. Meghan did everything I asked and took great care of my kitties, for which I am grateful.

My rescue dog struggles with trusting people and when I contacted Emily about it she was so nice and gentle about her approach to meeting Shae. Ever since the meet and greet she was patient and loving and my dog ended up warming up to her in just a couple of visits. It is really hard to find someone who is truly caring and understanding of fearful dogs. She was also very accommodating to our needs, Thank you, Emily!

As usual, Daniel took great care of our cats while we were traveling, even going into our home which was under evacuation warning from nearby fires offering to do what was needed to make sure our pets were safe. Can’t say enough great things about his dedication and care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
