“Lauren was fantastic for our dog Olan while we were away. Lauren is a clear communicator and gave great updates on how our dog was doing. We felt both very informed and totally at peace thanks to Lauren. Very easy to work with, very kind, and very compassionate to our dog. Would highly recommend working with Lauren for your needs!”

“Sarah is fantastic! She went over and above any expectations when Oliver tangled with a skunk. She’s dependable, respectful, and loving. My four legged boys adore her!”

“Sara was amazing! She took care of our dog Pipa for 12 nights / 13 days and we couldn´t be happier. We were able to fully enjoy our vacation because we knew Pipa was in great hands! Fully recommend her and we´ll love to work with her in the future!”

“I chose Ashli because her profile said that she is skilled in special needs and behavior quirks. Well, that matched my little blind schnoodle well! After a meet and greet as well as two drop ins, Ashli did three overnights for us. I would highly recommend Ashli as a sitter for your pets!”

“Mirte was absolutely outstanding! From the moment we connected, she was communicative, thoughtful, and incredibly caring with our home and pets. She went above and beyond in every way, sending regular updates and photos that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Our pets clearly adored her, and it was obvious she treated them like her own. We came home to a spotless house, happy animals, and everything handled perfectly. Mirte is reliable, kind, professional, and truly one of the best sitters we’ve ever worked with. We would book her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and compassionate to care for their pets and home. Five stars all around!”

“Katie went absolutely above and beyond for us when we were gone for a few days. From the beginning meet and greet, I felt extremely comfortable having her stay with us from the way she interacted with our pack of 3 large dogs, and just how she interacted with us too. Our dogs can be a lot and she handled them amazingly. During our trip, Katie sent us the perfect amount of updates and pictures (which she is cognizant to ask during the meet and greet!), and the pictures were all incredible. Our dogs looked so happy and playful and adorable! I could tell they were having a blast with her ❤️. Katie was also super responsive to my texts which I very much appreciated - it let me know she was here and very active with our pups! Katie left the house far cleaner than when we left too, making the day after a long trip so easy. Katie is truly a star sitter that has a wonderful heart for people and animals, takes her role very seriously, and I would use her again without hesitation.”

“Abby was incredibly attentive to my cat and sent frequent updates while I was away, and even took the time to ask several questions in our initial meeting to ensure all important details were communicated. My cat is VERY shy around people and yet by the end of my trip, Abby gained her affection - which speaks to how dedicated they were to genuinely caring for my cat. Definitely would recommend Abby a sitter for those that wants their pet to be taken care of like family :)”

“Lucy D was great with Penny. This is the second time that Lucy has stayed this summer. It is nice to go away and not have to worry. The house, plants, fish and especially my precious Penny pup were all fine on my return!”

“I highly recommend Jonah as a house/dog sitter. He understands dogs, is extremely patient with them, and knows how to build trust with dogs who are anxious. When we returned from our trip, our dog was happy and the house looked exactly the same as when we left. Jonah is dependable, honest, personable, communicative—an all-around very decent human being.”

“Leah was great with my babies. We have 1 dog that is blind and diabetic. The other 2 can be a handful. She was able to handle giving shots. My babies were sad she didn’t come back. We will definitely be using Leah again”

About: I have plenty of experience taking care of animals growing up. I spent some time caring for my family's disabled dog, so I am not afraid of tackling some extra conditions. Friends and family have loved me as a top choice for petsitting. Currently, I am very flexible. I will be able to accommodate most times with a few days notice. A lot of the work I am currently doing is very flexible. I do best with specific instructions. I do not mind spending a little extra time hanging out with them because I know how lonely they can get when they miss you!
“Deborah made leaving our Luna girl for 2 days extremely “easy”. Kept us up to date with photos, how she was eating, sleeping etc. Didn’t have to question the care that was being provided whatsoever. She also kept our house tidy how we left it. Would book her 1,000 times more! Thank u!”

“Brenley was the first sitter ever that Finley took to. He has always been very guarded and wouldn’t open up or trust others. Brenley sent pictures everyday and let me know he was doing. I will definitely book her again for any future trips!”

“Daniel was excellent. Took care of my kitties while I was out of the country for 2 weeks and constantly kept me in the loop and sent me pictures of them daily. Would highly recommend him.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Bloomington
Michelle was without question the best house/Pet Sitter we have ever had. She is responsible, responsive, a very good communicator, and took great care of our pets and house. She gave both pets their medicines and she sent us pictures with updates and both pets looked very happy and comfortable with her.

I chose Ashli because her profile said that she is skilled in special needs and behavior quirks. Well, that matched my little blind schnoodle well! After a meet and greet as well as two drop ins, Ashli did three overnights for us. I would highly recommend Ashli as a sitter for your pets!

Brenley is amazing!! It was so nice to have her at the house with Myla when we were away, we were able to have a relaxing vacation knowing she was with Myla and taking good care of her! She sent me pics and kept me updated everyday! She’s wonderful!! Thank you again Brenley!!

Sara stayed with my dog for five nights, and everything went great! She gave my dog her daily meds, played lots of fetch with her, and kept her feeling comfortable while I was traveling. Sara sent a daily update with photos, which helped me feel at ease. Sara kept the house in great shape and even helped with bringing in the mail and trash/recycling bins. I recommend Sara for worry-free overnight pet sitting!

Last time we booked with Kat our dog was in heat. This time, our dog had an acute injury. Kat takes everything in stride and handles whatever is thrown at her with grace, excellence, and grit. Our dog loves her sitter! We love our dog sitter, too! She is super reliable, flexible, sweet and fun!

Hazel stayed at my home and watched my baby girl Ivy for a well while I was in Florida visiting my family. Hazel took amazing care of Ivy and my home. She was very respectful and even swept and wiped down the counters, and put the sheets in the wash before she left. I recommend Hazel to anyone who needs a dog walker/sitter.

Lucy was fantastic! She sent pictures of our animals while we were away. She handled our high anxiety and very loud obnoxious dogs like a pro. Our two dogs typically hate strangers and take a while to warm up to people, but even during the first day they became best buddies. We have an indoor bunny that she also took care of. I will definitely be booking her again, hopefully, for any future vacations!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bloomington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bloomington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bloomington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bloomington. On Rover:
- 85% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
