About: I have had at least one dog ever since I was born, and i have had to care for, exercise, feed, and bathe a dog since. Plenty of friends and family have also asked me to dog sit or dog walk for them so I am very familiar with working with dogs that aren’t my own. I also worked at Camp Bow Wow in Montgomery for a year. They are a highly regarded doggy day care and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I was in constant contact with dogs and learned a lot about caring for them more than i already knew. I have a flexible work from home job, so i have plenty of time to take care of your pups!! I love going for walks and playing with dogs, as well as being chill and giving them plenty of belly rubs!!! At home, I feed my dog and take her for daily walks. I also do enrichment exercises with her to keep her mind stimulated. In your home, I would do the same as well as take them for plenty of walks!! I follow feeding schedules if provided and am flexible to any other rules in the home.

About: I have an immense love for animals, and always have since I was a child. I've always been surrounded by animals from childhood and to adulthood as I currently have two female cats, one named Cleo who is 7 years old, and the other who is the baby at 2. I regularly care for my parent's two pups whenever they go on vacation, and have been a cat sitter for friends as well. I have experience with scheduling feeding times, walking dogs, general cleaning of the food and water area, as well as grooming needs such as baths. I can stay at client's homes for an extended period of time if needed, considering the pet's needs and also do daily check ups, with multiple visits in one day. I have experience dog walking for a small, privately owned company and did it regularly for about a year, which was both rewarding and a challenge! I learned a great deal on how to care for animals and to ensure trust in the owner's hand. I currently work at home managing an online store, so my job allows me the flexibility to fit in walks during the day and during the week while I'm off! I'm completely free Sun-Sat, with morning/evening availability thru the weekend, but with request and approval needed on my end! I care for pets at client's homes, and this includes me first building trust with your fur baby to ensure they are as comfortable with me as possible. I also can do daily walks for dogs for exercise, socialization, and for potty purposes. I can do set daily walks at the request of the owner with potty updates to ensure pet has successful walk. I ask clients about any dietary restrictions before feeding them. My feeding time that I set is morning and night and the amount to feed is according to weight. However, if a client has their own specific way for handling food intake, I'll happily follow! In addition, if a client requests extended home stays, I can for sure do that and also handle any house maintenance such as garbage takeout, caring for plants, and general tidying up. The same applies for cat sitting, and the way I manage caring for cats is similar to dogs in regard to feeding times, general grooming, and extended home stays.

About: I am an absolute animal lover and have lived with animals since I was 16! I love getting outside and playing with dogs or walking them, and staying in and cuddling or caring for little cats. I have worked closely with animals making sure they’re doing well and taken care of throughout college :) I will also always provide silly and fun videos and pics of the animals throughout their time with me!! **if booking is not confirmed within 24 hours of my acceptance it may be cancelled to keep my schedule available** I’m currently a graduate student at UAB with very flexible hours. I am walking distance from my work so I can always check back in whenever necessary! I also have a little camera set up in my apartment which can check on the animals as needed :) I am always spending the night in my own apartment and will usually be at work on weekdays from 8:30-4 When I am taking care of pets I make sure anything that could be harmful to them is put up and out of reach! I know some animals can be a little finicky and have some storage where I know they wouldn’t be able to reach. I also have a security camera in my apartment which I can access to check on the animals as necessary!

About: For as long as I can remember, there have always been pets in my life! Whether that was in my own home growing up, in a family member's home, at friends' houses, etc. I have often been the go-to person when it comes to caring for them when their owners are out of town. From walking, feeding, playing, administering medication, and more, I have absolutely loved getting to care for pets of all sizes and ages. As for my own pet experience, after moving to Birmingham in 2018 I applied to become a foster through Two by Two Rescue and began fostering (and quickly failed) with my sweet 13-year-old Pekingese, Max. He was truly the light of my life and we were the best of friends! He taught me a ton about how to care for senior dogs. Before his passing in 2021, I rescued my cat, Mews, and although she's a little hesitant around other pets she stays in her own space! At my own home, I do have stairs but have no issue helping any senior pups or dogs afraid of going upstairs feel comfortable. I used to have to carry Max all the time, haha. I'm also comfortable with pee pads as they used to be a staple in my apartment. I'm not particular about whether or not your pet is create trained and have no issue if they're not! As long as they'd be okay around my cat, I'm more than happy to let them roam around as they please. There are plenty of sidewalks around my apartment for walkies and we're close to a community park as well! Discussing my work schedule is something I do before my meet and greets just so we both have an understanding of expectations. However, my full-time job is a hybrid environment so I'm able to work remotely usually 2 days out of the week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) to care for your pet. On days I am in the office, I'm happy to run by your home during my lunch break if you're close to my office in Hoover. At my home, there is plenty of walking space to take your pup out and get some exercise. We can visit a local park near my house if that's something they'd enjoy. I'm also happy to crate your fur baby if needed.

I know "perfect" doesn't exist, but I can't think of a better word to describe the pup caregiver that Joy is. She not only exudes love for our dogs but she is so knowledgeable! She clearly is a dog trainer and listed to the cues of our dogs and gave them the walks that each needed. She took our 14 year old dog with arthritis, Jax, out for a slow paced "sniff" walk for his enrichment and then came back and took our higher energy, Lola, out for a longer walk. There was one time where we saw Jax went out twice since she wanted to ensure he got his poop out. They were so happy and loved. Your fur babies are in the best of hands with Joy!

Chloe provided more than just a walk and feeding. She made my pup feel loved and gave him some extra loving while I was away. I ended up getting home later than expected and she took initiative to go ahead and put my grocery delivery away which made coming home feel more at ease. Although it may seem like a small act of kindness, it’s the little things that make her the perfect fit for us!

  • 94% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
