“Rene was a great sitter for our two cats! She followed all our (complicated) directions for feeding them and they both loved her - even our shy boy! We’ll definitely book her again. Thank you, Rene!”

“Madison is great. She's super responsible, communicates the perfect amount, took great care of our home, and, most importantly, was an AMAZING petsitter for our pup. We're grateful and look forward to having Madison care for Sheila again!”

About: I’ve owned and taken care of pets since I can remember. My family has had three dogs, four chickens, and a cat in my life with different needs and routines. I love animals and am able to adapt my pet sitting style based on their needs. My pet sitting experience ranges from a miniature schnauzer puppy to an old farm dog retriever. I will be shadowing at a Physical Therapy clinic, as well as peer mentoring for summer courses, so I will most likely be gone during the day. I am a morning person, so I don’t mind having to wake up early to make sure the pets need to go to the bathroom or get fed. I can adapt my schedule to fit the needs of your pet pretty easily, I am able to juggle many commitments at once. I am very detail-oriented, so I can follow any routine or set of care instructions precisely. Pets can be like an extra family member, and I understand how it is important to find someone you can trust to take care of them like so. I approach every new pet I meet with love and care, and will make sure they are as comfortable as possible. If there are any special needs or time where a pet needs, I make sure to set alarms and reminders so I don’t forget. When I interact with a pet, I make sure to read their body language so I don’t overstep any boundaries they may have.
“Recently went on vacation and had the privilege of having Paulina available and booked for housesitting. She is wonderful with our pup and kitties. Paulina is also dependable and great at communicating updates and photos daily, which eased my mind. She showed our pets lots of love in our absence. I truly believe that our fur babies were in the best hands.”

“Sophia was wonderful! She took great care of our fur babies and house. I appreciated her communication and updates , with photos. I would definitely have Sophia house sit again.”

“Katarina was an amazing sitter for Zuko. She was incredibly accommodating, gave me continuous updates on Zuko, and went above and beyond with her care. Zuko ended up having some tummy issues and Katarina immediately updated me on the problem and even picked up his prescription from the vet on my behalf. She took great care of the home and was always available to help where she could while I was away. I would 100% book her services again and I am incredibly grateful for her care. Thank you so much Katarina!”

About: I’ve always had dogs growing up, dogs that have complicated medical needs to dogs that are lax and can do everything on their own. I’ve always grown up with cats as well as a plethora of other animals including fish, lizards, birds, and frogs. I’ve housesat for multiple people over the years and have received much positive feedback! I’m working evening at a restaurant from 3pm to 8pm, so it doesn’t cause much shift in my capability to care for your furry friends! I am more than happy to stay at your place in caring for your pets or if easier/preferred, I can stop by intermittently throughout the day to give your pet the care it needs.

“Maddie is amazing! Super thoughtful and communicative. She took awesome care of my dog and my home, and she sent plenty of updates and photos.”

About: I have had pets all of my life, my mom had two dogs and a cat before I was even born. I am a passionate animal advocate and have fostered and rescued over 50 dogs in the last 10 years with Northwest Boxer Rescue, and I took a Veterinary Medicine class in my final year of high school. I have all the basic medical experience of a Veterinary Assistant, and I am CPR trained for cats and dogs! I am also trained in basic grooming and small animal first aid. I have taken care of and owned a variety of animals, from rodents to horses and livestock, and I have fostered dogs from newborn puppies to seniors in their final days. I am currently in my 2nd year at WWU and I only have classes twice a week with a super flexible schedule. I’d love to meet you and your fur babies of all shapes and sizes! I am currently just a student, so I have plenty of extended free time to take care of your pets. On days I have class, I can stop by or take your dog for a walk in the mornings before 10am, and come back later around 4pm as well, with a mid day check-in too if you’d like! :) I am free all days besides Tues/Thurs, and I can be flexible with your schedule too! I am available on weekends and late nights. I have a quarter of an acre fully fenced yard for my dog at home, and my cats are indoor only cats. I take my dog for walks twice a day, and love to spend at least 30 minutes playing with one of my cats at home, he is an energetic breed and needs interaction. My other cats love to snuggle up with me on the couch, so I have no issue taking your dog for a walk and getting in some needed playtime, or just snuggling up with a furry friend on the couch and giving them some loves! My pets are fed twice a day, and they all have water fountains with frequently cleaned and filtered water. My dog goes out for potty breaks every couple of hours as needed. Routinely pet care is very important to me as well, I brush my cats & trim their nails, and I bathe, brush, and clip my dog as well. My pets are all vaccinated and on flea & tick medication. I can comfortably crate (and rotate) if needed. All of my cats are 100% indoor only and I am VERY vigilant about this! Keep cats indoors 😊
“Charlie was great! He’s a repeat. We have two dogs that are hard to deal with because of their past but Charlie managed to win them over and even get one of them for a walk. I would strongly recommend him!”
“Sydney is very kind and great with Tanuki! This is her third time sitting Tanuki and he really likes his company. She always makes sure to keep me updated with the pics! Thanks Sydney!”

“Sammari was amazing! She helped my very skittish dog feel comfortable. She sent regular updates and was very responsive. I would definitely have her again. She really worked her magic.”

“Haley was so great with communication and feedback while I was gone for the week, and both my cat and dog act as though I haven’t even been away. It was such an ease knowing they were well taken care of.”

About: As a lifelong pet owner and animal lover, I truly understand how much trust it takes to leave your pets in someone else's care. I've personally raised and cared for animals since I was a kid. These pets have included cockatiels, lizards, dogs and cats of all ages. This experience gives me knowledge in order to provide age-specific care, whether that means longer walk/ play time or gentle attention and medication support for seniors. I am flexible with my schedule due to a work from home schedule. This means more time to play and care for your pups! I am availability typically Monday- Thursday but will update my Rover calendar as frequently as possible to reflect an accurate schedule. I like to send a lot of photos and videos in order to keep you updated and feel at ease (Unless you ask me not to!) One thing that really helps things go smoothly is a detailed schedule & notes (written or typed) for your pet if they have any. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do to keep your pup safe and happy.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Bellingham
Melia was so great with our dog and three cats while housesitting! Excellent communication and our pets were all calm and happy when we returned which was the biggest sign that she was attentive to everyone’s needs. We will feel comfortable leaving Melia with our pets and home again this summer!

Jennifer was professional and went above and beyond with the dogs and the home. She brings her expertise and experience, and works like it’s her pet and home. Her thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and general positive disposition towards dogs is very evident. Definitely recommend for pet sitting!

Braelyn is fantastic! She watched our senior dog for 2 days and kept us updated from start to finish. Our dog takes daily medications and has unique quirks, and Braelyn handled everything perfectly and made us feel totally at ease. We came home to a very happy pup and a clean house. Highly recommend her and can't wait to use her services again!

Daisy went above and beyond for our two dogs. We were a little nervous to use a new sitter since by the time the sitter arrived we wouldn’t have cell service anymore as we were gone camping. But it all went great and Daisy sent us tons of updates which were a joy to read through when we got back to service. She adapted to what our dogs needed even when it differed from what we told her to expect. She took them each for a walk and even left the house tidier than we left it. Daisy is great!

Shyla did an awesome job caring for my beloved pup and my house while I was away for a long weekend. She was very responsive and easy to communicate with, sent great pictures and updates, followed my requests for care, left my house in great condition and clearly was so caring and sweet with my dog. Will definitely plan to request her help again in the future!

Karla is wonderful. I truly couldn’t be more pleased. It’s hard for me to leave the dogs, I worry because they’re a couple of high maintenance nutties. But Karla exudes competence and I really think she goes out of her way to meet both their AND my emotional needs. We are using her for a long stay in September and I am looking towards that with complete confidence now.
Skylar is the perfect pet/house sitter. Our 2 boys (6 year old lab/shepherd) love her. She's a great communicator, our pups were left happy and healthy, and our home was spotless when we arrived back from a week of vacation. Top marks to Skylar! We'll definitely look for this sitter for future pet needs.

Gloria is amazing! She watched our 13-year-old Lab (who requires daily meds) for a weekend. We had zero cell service, but after meeting Gloria, we knew she was in safe hands. We came back to a clean house and a very happy pup who barely noticed we left. Will definitely book again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Bellingham on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 735 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bellingham. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bellingham walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bellingham maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bellingham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
