“I highly recommend Madison for anyone looking for trustworthy, reliable, and loving dog care! Madison took care of my pup + bird and did an amazing job. From the initial meet-and-greet to the regular updates during the stay, Madison was professional, communicative, and genuinely enthusiastic about spending time with my boys! Book with confidence, knowing your beloved pup will be in great hands :)”

“Brook was great- easy to communicate, reliable, and she left the house super clean! My male dog can be a bit difficult but he loved her and from pictures she sent, I could tell how relaxed and happy my dogs were.”

“Sophia was absolutely amazing! She took time to meet my pup ahead of the stay and then communicated and shared photos throughout the stay. She was beyond patient with Shadows needs, and navigated a challenging moment incredibly. She is a gem!”
“I believe Melia has been Moose’s favorite sitter of all time, I don’t even think he missed me. She is very attentive to all the small nuances and went above and beyond to me you feel comfortable taking a trip away from my lil man. could not recommend enough…seriously, you’re lucky if she is free”

About: I have grown up in a house full of cats and dogs, so I am no stranger to the late night zoomies or hairball. I have dog and cat sit my whole life and still love it! I am currently unemployed and doing side hustles, I have the time to dog walk, cat sit and stay the night if needed! I would love to take care of your pets! I live in a spacious apartment but prefer to pet sit at the clients place. I have one cat at home and have raised her since she kitten.
“Skyler is top notch. Right from the start, communication was great. Unfortunately my dog decided to be a big jack@$$. He acted up right as I was packing to leave but petting on my bed. He ended up nipping Skylar and being a grumpface, making her job more difficult. She handled it like a pro and even given the option to finish the stay, with minor adjustments she gladly continued. I very much appreciated her commitment. 5 stars from me!”

“Matt was fantastic! My dog can be a little challenging at times, but Matt was determined to make Baxter comfortable with his stay and to become good buddies. He was communicative, took Bax on great walks, left the house clean, and my dog seemed so happy when I arrived home! Will definitely be using Matt in the future and highly recommend him to anyone searching for a great dog sitter!!”

“Shayla was very sweet with our kids, especially with our very senior Lady Ume. She kept us updated texting and with photos. Shayla was respectful of our home and we returned home to a clean and tidy house. We have already reserved Shayla for a second visit.”

“Philip is seriously the most ideal dog sitter. Knows how to manage dogs behaviors and communicates well. I seriously feel so lucky to have found him. We have a high energy dog and it felt so nice to have someone who knew how to entertain and also love our dogs so well. Thank you Philip!”

“Angela came right on time and was in constant communication with me. She also went above and beyond and brought in some packages for us. We’ll definitely be using her again :)”

“Kami stayed with our dog Chase while we were on vacation and did an excellent job as always. She gave us frequent updates and left the house spotless upon our return. Thank you, Kami!”

“Katarina followed instructions well and took consistent and great care of our pets (2 dogs) while away. Recommended sitter. She can handle cats, smalls dogs, and big dogs.”

“Summari was great! Super communication and preparation: she took the time to come a day early to meet Missi and learn her routine, sent pictures along the way and loved on my pup well. Thanks a million!”

“It was a pleasure meeting Karolina and having her watch our 2-dogs for the July 4th Holiday. She was great with spending LOTS of time at our house, walking Stewie & Odie a couple times a day and communicating with us throughout the weekend. We will definitely have her watch our dogs in the future!”

About: I’ve always had dogs growing up, dogs that have complicated medical needs to dogs that are lax and can do everything on their own. I’ve always grown up with cats as well as a plethora of other animals including fish, lizards, birds, and frogs. I’ve housesat for multiple people over the years and have received much positive feedback! I’m working evening at a restaurant from 3pm to 8pm, so it doesn’t cause much shift in my capability to care for your furry friends! I am more than happy to stay at your place in caring for your pets or if easier/preferred, I can stop by intermittently throughout the day to give your pet the care it needs.
“Nathaniel is a great sitter. He follows instructions and provides detailed communication. My dog is very happy being taken care of by Nathaniel and I am confident in his care. Highly recommend and will use again.”

“We won the lottery when we found Taylor! That cannot be overstated! Her daily communication was clear and frequent which we truly appreciated and the pictures and videos gave us peace of mind. Which is crucial when you’re traveling and leaving your home and pets in the care of others. We have every intention to hire Taylor in any future trips without hesitation and we did note all the little extras that were very appreciated. We have 4 cats 3 who were a bonded group and had just recently joined our solo ( and territorial) cat Pixie. Taylor handled them beautifully and upon our return we noted they were more social and affectionate. Something we were hoping to work on when we returned. Thank you Taylor for your attention to detail and loving on our fur family! Not only are you beyond capable but you are also a wonderful person. Warmly, Bobbie and Robb”

“Melissa was great! She was quick to respond, was super positive and friendly, gave us updates throughout the day with photos, and did everything we asked! Whiskey loved her and we’ll definitely book her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sudden Valley
Kaila did a fantastic job watching little Lily for a few hours while I did errands. She was calm and soothing, and this was so nice for Lily who is a puppy and has a bit of separation anxiety. It was obvious that Lily really liked Kaila from the start. I have already booked Kaila again and look forward to knowing that Lily will be in great hands!

Don is the nicest and most thoughtful sitter. We trust him in our home with our fur babies! It’s really a relief to have him be our recurring sitter when we have to go out of town. When we come home the dogs are happy to see us but not overly so, which we understand to mean that they were well cared for.

We just had Philip watch our three dogs for the second time and he was wonderful. He provided pictures and updates, which I love to get. When we returned, he had watered all of my outdoor gardens and the dogs were happy and relaxed. Yay! Definitely would ask Philip to take care of our pups again.

We had a great experience working with Jordis. She was great with the dogs (two St Bernards and one who needs multiple eye drops daily), a good communicator, and was respectful of our home. She accommodated a fairly last minute request for care around the 4th of July and was flexible at we delayed our departure bc of an issue with our home. We'd be happy to work with Jordis again.

Matt did an excellent job of caring for our dog and home while we were away for a week. We came home to a relaxed, happy dog and a clean home! We were very comforted to receive Matt's daily updates detailing Stella's activities and care accompanied by photos/video. We would LOVE to have Matt dog/housesit again for us and we highly recommend him!

Brooke is the first Rover we have used since moving to sudden valley and we will definitely rebook. We got timely updates, cute photos and best of all peace of mind knowing our pups were in excellent hands! We were gone for a week and came home to happy dogs and I swear the house was cleaner than we left it including stripping and washing the bedding. Brooke went above and beyond, truly - 10/10 would recommend!

Ariel did an amazing job watching my high energy pup! She took her out on several adventures and was an excellent commucator. I really appreciated all the pup pupdates! She also left the place cleaner than it had been :) I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for some pet sitting and would/likely will book her again. It's always great returning to a happy and tired pup :)

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sudden Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sudden Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sudden Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sudden Valley. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
