“Matt was fantastic! My dog can be a little challenging at times, but Matt was determined to make Baxter comfortable with his stay and to become good buddies. He was communicative, took Bax on great walks, left the house clean, and my dog seemed so happy when I arrived home! Will definitely be using Matt in the future and highly recommend him to anyone searching for a great dog sitter!!”

“Skyler is top notch. Right from the start, communication was great. Unfortunately my dog decided to be a big jack@$$. He acted up right as I was packing to leave but petting on my bed. He ended up nipping Skylar and being a grumpface, making her job more difficult. She handled it like a pro and even given the option to finish the stay, with minor adjustments she gladly continued. I very much appreciated her commitment. 5 stars from me!”

“Madison is fantastic! She took such good care of my pack! She made sure everyone ate, even though my Andy is scared to eat around people he isn’t very familiar with!! I will have Madison watch my boys every time we need a sitter!! Plus she left the house in immaculate shape - I couldn’t tell she was here!!”

“Nicole was communicative and took great care of my senior pup. It was a relief to have someone staying in my home with him where he is most comfortable. I highly recommend Nicole and will happily reach out again in the future!”

“Sophia was absolutely amazing! She took time to meet my pup ahead of the stay and then communicated and shared photos throughout the stay. She was beyond patient with Shadows needs, and navigated a challenging moment incredibly. She is a gem!”
“Katarina was an amazing sitter for Zuko. She was incredibly accommodating, gave me continuous updates on Zuko, and went above and beyond with her care. Zuko ended up having some tummy issues and Katarina immediately updated me on the problem and even picked up his prescription from the vet on my behalf. She took great care of the home and was always available to help where she could while I was away. I would 100% book her services again and I am incredibly grateful for her care. Thank you so much Katarina!”

“Karla was amazing with Suds! I had way too many instructions, and he can sometimes be difficult so I was worried he would annoy a sitter. Karla listened to all my requests for updates and made Suds very comfortable. Would definitely work with her again!”

“Janette did a fantastic job house and pet sitting for us. She made sure to send pictures and updates multiple times a day. She treated our dogs very well, they were both very happy with her! I highly recommend her and will definitely use her again when needed.”

“Haley was so great with communication and feedback while I was gone for the week, and both my cat and dog act as though I haven’t even been away. It was such an ease knowing they were well taken care of.”

“Angela knows what she is doing! We have two english bulldogs that are very... extra... and are very much our fur children. Not only did she take awesome care of them, but she somehow managed to keep our house clean too! :) Angela goes above and beyond, and we look forward to having her stay with our bullies in the future!”

“Kami was wonderful! She was our first pet sitter for our pup and it looked like they had a great weekend. We received daily updates and came home to a happy pup. We will definitely rebook! Thanks for watching Butter!”

“Shayla was very sweet with our kids, especially with our very senior Lady Ume. She kept us updated texting and with photos. Shayla was respectful of our home and we returned home to a clean and tidy house. We have already reserved Shayla for a second visit.”

“Phil did a great job. He was able to help us out last minute and was more than accommodating. Our Rottweiler can be a bit intimidating, but he handled her like a pro. He stayed at our house and watched our dogs while we were away,”

About: Ready to adventure with your pets! 🌲 *For more videos & pictures check out my IG: petcarepdx ABOUT ME Being raised with 3 Pugs, a mini Aussie, and 2 chihuahuas, my transition to professional pet care was very smooth! I started at a dog walking company in Portland in July 2021 and recieved a promotion within 3 months. And by Winter 2022 I transitioned to full-time employment as an independent pet care provider. I am very familiar with high energy large strong pups that like to pull sneaky tricks and play 🐕🦺 Alongside dog walking, I cat sit frequently! 🐈 I have also cared for specialty pets such as rats, bearded dragons, bunnies and guinea pigs! 🐁 I've taken care of many special needs & rescued pets, and spent a year fostering a sweet kitty! I’m open to every pet! I moved to the bay in August, but prior to my relocation I had established many trusting relationships with clients and provided reoccurring care for their sweet pups & kitties for over a year. It was definitely tough to say goodbye. However, I’m very excited to be creating more wonderful relationships with clients and pets here in Oakland! I am open and looking to take house sitting gigs in Portland and traveling up to visit! I always approach with a gentle and calm demeanor, so animals aren’t overwhelmed. Safety and ensuring their needs are met is #1! I am always willing to follow training practices owners have in place. Please note combo walks are not a requirement and will be up to the individual dogs' needs and client requests. I lean towards R+ walking and prefer to walk pups with harnesses and no prong or choke collars. I love to take pictures and give detailed updates as I find communication to be very essential to pets’ care! Please say hello, I’d love to chat about how I can help take care of your sweet pals! I currently live in Oakland, California but previously lived in Portland for two years! SCHEDULE -I accept reoccurring walks M-Thr 10 AM - 5 PM -I accept one-time walks outside of those days & times Please include an acceptable time window of arrival in your request. OVERNIGHTS I can provide walks, enrichment time, and attention for pups! I unfortunately cannot watch pups that are unable to be alone as I would like to spend some time outside of the home. Depending on the pups and their needs I’d love to take them on adventures! If adventures aren’t in the cards for them I am still able to provide care in the form of walks, quality time, and enrichment.
“Autumn did great with both of my cats. One is pretty shy and she instantly warmed up to Autumn. The other has special needs including medicine management and Autumn completely accommodated him. She also sent pictures and reassurances to me letting me when she arrived and how the kitties were. Left the house in perfect condition. Will 100% book her again.”

“Absolutely incredible experience with Taylor 🌺🐾 From the moment we left, we knew our fur babies were in loving, caring hands. The constant updates, attention to detail, and genuine aloha spirit gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We came home to happy, relaxed, and clearly spoiled pups. Mahalo nui loa for treating our pups like part of your own ʻohana! We would trust you again in a heartbeat and highly recommend you to anyone looking for world-class care for their furry family members. 🌴☀️🐶”

I would give Kami 6 stars if I could! She is a wonderful pet sitter, and I always feel completely at ease leaving my two dogs in her care. She stayed in our home for 4 nights while we were away and followed all of the instructions we left for her, and we came home to a clean and tidy house. Our dogs can be a handful at times--one is 12 and the other is 3, so they have very different needs, and she is so great with both of them. It’s clear that she genuinely cares about the pets she watches. I would highly recommend Kami to anyone!

Emilia was an incredible sitter for our two high energy dogs. She took care of our big malinois and our crazy puppy, taking them on multiple long walks and to the park, as well as giving them lots of love. She accommodated our very last minute request, working around her schedule for us. She followed our instructions and was super communicative, sending frequent pictures and updates on our pups. Your pets will be in very good hands with Emilia!

Matthew exceeded expectations! Not only is he professional, but it’s also clear that caring for dogs is a full time passion. My pup, Cooper, loved him and Matthew even took time to train him. I will definitely be booking again and recommending him to all my pet owning friends. Very grateful to have you in the area Matthew!

Lindsey did a house sit for me this time. And she is just a gem! My cat is always so happy and content when she stays with him. I can genuinely tell he was well loved based on how relaxed he is upon my return. She also did an amazing job caring for my golden retriever— giving him love, medicine, and good play time. I felt safe and was relieved to have her watch my pets and home. Thank you Lindsey! You’re the best! 💕

Harper is absolutely wonderful! Harper watched our spunky lab for a few weeks over the holidays and she was exceptionally well cared for. We loved the clear communication, regular updates, and cute photos. It was obvious that Langley was having the time of her life on Harper's farm. We'll definitely be booking with Harper again soon.

Summer is an absolute amazing find! My senior cat recently had some health issues, and we had a trip planned that was causing me a lot of anxiety. From the moment we met her, we knew both our cats were in good hands. She communicated just as much as I asked for, and I came back to both Ollie and Dakota happier than I have seen them after a trip. Highly recommend!

Sene did a great job taking care of our two dogs and home. They were disappointed when we came home because they had so much fun with her! :) We will definitely hire Sene again and highly recommend her services to anyone with high energy, high maintenance pups!

FAQs for House Sitting - Van Wyck
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Van Wyck on Rover is $33.24 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 677 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Van Wyck. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Van Wyck walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Van Wyck maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Van Wyck choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
