“Skylar is amazing. We were so reassured by her presence and consistent communication. She is great with people and pets, a rare combination. Very thankful to have found her.”

“Bodhi was amazing! He took such great care of my cat while I was gone. He played with and loved on him a ton, was super punctual and communicated when he was going to be late, sent lots of cute pics, and gave super detailed report cards with everything he did to make sure Simon was well taken care of. There wasn't a single moment that I was worried about my pets well being under his care.”

“I was a bit worried to leave my cat this trip, as she seemed out of sorts. Tami went above and beyond not only in taking care of her and making sure she was feeling fine during drop ins, but in keeping me updated on how things were going.”

“Sophia watched our dog porter while we were gone over the holidays. She checked in on him multiple times a day and left us feedback each time on how he was doing. We love hiring Sophia when we go out of town because we know he’ll be well taken care of.”

“Jenna was super responsive and sent detailed messages about her visits which I really appreciated. My very shy cat warmed up to her over just a few days which is rare and speaks to her level of care :) I highly recommend her to anyone with cats!”

“Clara was amazing! She was flexible, communicated great throughout the whole process, and was incredibly patient with my shy dog. She was able to gain his trust and help him feel comfortable so quickly, which meant so much to me. I felt at ease knowing he was in good hands. I would definitely recommend Clara and book with her again! 🐾❤️”

“She was absolutely wonderful! Attentive, communicative, and so thoughtful about sending pictures of my kitties, just as I’d asked. One of my cats decided to take it upon himself to demolish a potted plant while I was away, and Willow cleaned up the whole mess without hesitation—and rescued my plant. When I got home, both of my kitties were happy, calm, and clearly well cared for. I can’t recommend her enough and will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Menisha was so sweet with our cat Benny and took great care of him. She was also really helpful with getting the meetup, booking, and scheduling arranged through Rover. I'll be looking for her first the next time Benny needs care.”

About: I have had dogs all of my life. My family especially loves goldens, but all dogs have my heart. I have two at home (golden 4yrs, golden doodle 12yrs) that I have helped train and take care of. I also have a variety of experience dog sitting from taking care of a little shnauzer to 3 big dobermans. If you need someone to keep your pet healthy and have company while you're away, I'm your gal! I am available everyday apart from Tuesdays (especially in the morning and evening). My schedule is pretty flexible, but that means it is often changing. Please feel free to reach out with your dates and we can work something out! I will ensure to keep your dog remaining healthy and loved in their own space in your home. I will make sure to follow instructions for walking, feeding, etc and keep your home mess free and safe at all times. I have experience with house training and dog walking/ sitting with all types of dogs including seniors and high energy puppies!
About: I’ve lived with pets my whole life, and have experience caring for both cats and dogs of varying difficulty levels. I can handle dogs of any size and energy level, having grown up with a very high strung Vizsla and a small rescue. I am gentle, caring and will always do my best to ensure that your pet gets the best care possible. I am currently a student at Western Washington University, so i will have plenty of time in the mornings and evenings to ensure that your pet gets the utmost care. While I don’t have space at home to crate or board your pet, I am happy to take them on walks in the many beautiful parks and forests around Bellingham, or play with them in their home yard or house. I am also always happy to sit and snuggle with your pet to comfort them while you are away.

“Kami dropped by to walk our pups while we were away for the day, and they loved their time with her! She sent updates and photos, and the dogs were very well taken care of. Thank you, Kami!”

“Responsive and accommodating to scheduling time slots for drop ins and itinerary of what to do while visiting. Jack seemed very relaxed and happy when we returned having gotten lots of great care and attention while we were gone.”

“Zoe has been excellent! She is a great communicator, she is punctual, and she even came for a meet and greet and I could tell she really connected with my dog. She dropped in to play with my dog and documented the visit with photos. When I got home my pup was a happy girl and I could tell she was cared for well. I would strongly recommend Zoe for pet-sitting as she is very experienced with a variety of animals and provides an excellent service. 10/10”

“Madalyn was great with our cat while we were gone on a trip for two weeks, it seemed our cat really bonded with her and was well taken care of :) definitely recommend!!!”
About: I have had pets my whole life! My person experience includes: nursing my yellow lab back to health after a car accident, caring for and raising 9 puppies, giving medication to pups when they reach their later years, and living with a loving my roommates cat! I enjoy walks and hikes as much as I enjoy staying in and cuddling with more chill animals! I currently work as an observer for fishing vessels, which gives me long periods of time in Bellingham where I am very available, and when I’m out at sea I pause my account. I am unfortunately not able to house dogs, but I can transport them to park, walking trails, and can promise the dogs will be well loved and cared for the entire time!
About: I have grown up around animals and have had multiple dogs throughout my life. I have pet sit multiple times, cats and dogs, and love to get to just hangout with furry friends! I am very active, and I would make sure your pets get lots of love! Currently I am free everyday of the week, so I can do boarding and help with pets that need more consistent care/attention. At the end of September I start school, so I may be able to do more of just daily walks and things like that. I live in a safe neighborhood and all of my roommates love animals! I have an unfenced grassy yard. I will make sure to follow each pets routines and instructions provided.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
