I am a full-time remote worker for a nonprofit organization that provides free computers and computer classes to underserved communities throughout the United States. My work is very independent and only involves a few videoconference meetings during the week. This allows me to keep a constant eye on pets throughout the day and I can take frequent breaks to give them love & attention. All the pets I have cared for have been great work companions and they usually hang out in the same room with me all day while I work on my laptop. They have been known to hang out by my feet or even in my lap! By being in the home all day, the pets immediately become comfortable with me and can easily maintain their normal routines with no stress. It brings me joy to see even the most timid pets accept me within a day or two. My philosophy with animals is to be attune to their behavior and actions, and to provide them with positive, confident, and loving care.

Safety, trust & environment
I value being compassionate, caring, and kind to both people and pets. I am comfortable and experienced in feeding, walking, picking up poop, playing & exercising, giving medication, and anything else your pets need. As a Pilates & fitness instructor and wellness aficionado, I am a non-smoker, do not partake in any drugs, and very rarely drink alcohol. I strive for a relaxed, balanced, and healthy lifestyle. I have an AWD SUV and can run errands, and I'm happy to take trips to the park or hiking trails with furry friends. Just let me know your pet and home needs and I'll do my best to get everything done!
Information Matthew P. would like to know about your pet
I want to make sure the pets enjoy their normal routines, so please let me know of any daily habits or routines that your pets expect and enjoy. For example, do you give treats after a walk or returning from a potty break? For dogs, is there a specific way to apply a harness/leash, and do you use certain commands when playing, walking, or at meal time? Also, please let me know how your dog(s) interacts with other people and other dogs so that I can have walks, and potential trips to the dog park, that is safe and comfortable for us both.
A typical day
A typical days starts with the morning routines of feeding pets and attending to any plants. For dogs, I like to take them for a walk before I log into my online job to start the workday. Throughout the day I take frequent work breaks and can attend to the pets or do other sitting tasks. When I log off of work, I typically do an in-home workout (yoga or pilates) and then will feed the pets and perform other tasks (e.g. clean the litter box, pick-up poop, take out the trash/recycle). For dogs, I will take them out for a late afternoon/early evening walk and will wear a reflective LED vest for safety if it is dark outside. On weekends, I try to take dogs for a longer walk or hike, or take them to a dog park.

Experienced sitter & remote worker
Pet care experience
I have looked after the pets and homes of family, friends, and on pet-sitting services for 6+ years both in the US and abroad. Beginning in early 2022, I became a full time pet-sitter with a fully remote online job and am based in the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy traveling, caring for amazing animals, and, most importantly, meeting like-minded people who have the heart and trust to allow others to care for their cherished pets and homes. I feel honored to have cared for a variety of animals including dogs, cats, frogs, guinea pigs, chickens, rabbits, geese, fish, ducks, and even 9 rescue dogs at one time! For everyone's peace of mind, I share a daily check-in with the host during the sitting that shows a checklist of the tasks I've completed plus notes and pictures about any adventures (or misadventures) with the furry friends, house, and plants. I welcome and encourage open communication before and during the sitting. I want to ensure that everybody is always up to date and has a great experience!
Reviews

Matt did an excellent job of caring for our dog and home while we were away for a week. We came home to a relaxed, happy dog and a clean home! We were very comforted to receive Matt's daily updates detailing Stella's activities and care accompanied by photos/video. We would LOVE to have Matt dog/housesit again for us and we highly recommend him!

We highly recommend Matt!

Matthew was an excellent communicator during his 11 day stay at our home pet sitting our two dogs. He posted daily summaries and checklists on activities, meals and posted photos. We are extremely happy with his attention to the care of our pups. Highly recommend.

Matthew did a great job walking our dog Mulligan. he was prompt, communicative, and Mully took to him quickly. each time Matthew came over, Mully got really happy and bouncy as soon as he saw Matthew coming up the patio steps. and each time he returned with a big doggy smile on his face, then promptly fell in to a deep sleep that only comes after a great walk. :) we will definitely use Matthew again if we need walking help with Mully.
