This was my first time using Rover so I was a little nervous, but Loui has made this an enjoyable experience! I don’t have the easiest dog, and Loui has been very patient and caring with him. I feel very comfortable knowing that my boy is in good hands while I’m out. I love the little updates and photos I get while at work! 5 star photography skills too😂

About: Along with growing up with two dogs and helping to raise a puppy as a teenager, family friends and neighbors have relied on me to take care of their dogs and cats since I was ten. I've worked with all types of dogs, from Shih Tzus to Pit Bull mixes. I'm the one in my family who takes the dogs out on long hikes (or for short walks around the block once they get older), brushes their teeth and fur, gives them baths, and trims their nails. I'm a regular volunteer at cat shelters in cat care, and as a student on the pre-veterinary track, I have shadowed and volunteered at vet clinics to better understand the care that goes into your pets' health. Besides dogs and cats, I also have experience with a myriad of animals, such as hamsters, rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, mice, fish, hermit crabs, geckos, snakes, tortoises, and turtles. I have experience in preparing special diets for pets and other animals with specific health needs, and in senior dog care. Over the summer, I work at my internships in animal care for much of the work day, but that leaves afternoons, evenings, and early mornings for me to check in on your pets and give any care they need (breakfast/dinner, walks, baths, etc.). Over the school year, I will have more hours available to fit in more time with your pets (i.e. walking and bathing/grooming, more playtime, etc.). As a lover of all creatures, I take the safety of both pets and wildlife seriously. As such, I will always supervise pets that are outside in yards and keep them on leashes outside fenced-off areas so they are not a danger to others or themselves. If transporting pets in my car, I will keep them safe and secure in a carrier/crate. As a college student who has shared living spaces with new people before, I understand the importance of respecting others' belongings and boundaries. During drop-in visits, I will be sure to respect your home and any rules you may have for your comfort (i.e. no shoes in the house, specific dishes/silverware for pets only, general cleanliness, etc.).

About: I've cared for and trained dogs and cats since age 6. I'm comfortable working with all sizes and breeds of dogs and cats, and I absolutely love large breeds. I'm currently self-employed, so I have a very flexible schedule. I'll work in my work around your and your dog's schedule. Some weekends, I'm taking my kids to a tennis tournament, so I may not be available, or might need to reschedule. I have a large, furnished basement for your dog to run around in and explore, and there's a large soccer field across the street. If I'm visiting your home, I will work with your layout to insure your dog gets enough activity and has some fun!

About: I love all furry friends - I have a lovely cat, and I enjoy taking care of my friends’ puppies short or long terms. Taking them to long walks is my favorite part! I work on a flexible schedule, so I’m available on most weekday mornings or afternoons. I’d be ou-of-town on some weekends so pls let me know what’s your schedule like if pup needs walks on weekends! I have leashes (non-retractable) for small and medium dogs. I’m confident keeping pups of these sizes safe from traffic / other animals all the time. It’ll definitely be a plus if your pup know some commands!

About: Hi there! I’m an experienced dog handler dedicated to giving local pups the absolute best care. Backed by professional experience co-owning a pet service business and years of hands-on dog handling, I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. My main priority is making sure your pup stays safe, comfortable, and right on their normal schedule. Whether we’re out on an energetic walk, dropping in for mealtime, or relaxing during an overnight stay, you can count on clear communication, prompt updates, and plenty of photo check-ins. Looking forward to connecting with you and your pup! Pet care is a core part of my daily routine. I build my schedule around consistent walks/visits, feeding times, and any special instructions so pets are never rushed or squeezed in. Throughout the week, I keep communication steady with updates and photos, and I stay organized with notes to keep each pet’s routine consistent from day to day. I care for pets the same way in any space: safely, calmly, and according to their routine. In a client’s home, I follow your instructions closely for meals, walk/play schedule, and house rules. I keep everything clean and secure, and I send clear updates and photos each visit. In my home (for boarding), I provide a calm environment, regular potty breaks and exercise, close supervision, and a consistent routine with the right balance of attention and downtime based on your pet’s personality and energy level.

About: I’m not just a dog lover—I’m a proud dog mom of 9 years! I know how much your pup means to you because I feel the same way about mine. I bring the same care, attention, and love to every walk and drop-in as I do with my own dog, Dobby. I currently have a hybrid work schedule and work from home Mondays and Fridays. So Mondays and Fridays are pretty open. Tuesdays and Thursdays I would be available after 6pm so please feel free to message me if interested. Weekends I am available! When I drop in to care for your pet, I treat your home and your furry friend with the same respect and love I give my own. I always follow your care instructions closely—whether that’s feeding, potty breaks, playtime, or medication. I keep things calm and comforting for your pup, so they feel safe and happy.

About: I grew up with a variety of different pets; dogs, cats, fish, etc. I also rode horses and volunteered at my local humane society from the age of eight. I love animals of all kinds and am currently working on my wildlife rehabilitation certification. I have an active lifestyle and am at my happiest immersing myself in nature in rain or shine. I have two cats of my own and frequently care for my friends' and family members fur-babies. I look forward to getting to know yours also! I am a freelance violinist and violin teacher, so my schedule is self-built and fairly flexible! A lot of my work is individual practice (I even have a special mute that I attach to my instrument which dampens the violin sound for the more sensitive pet ears.) I am an active person and love to go on walks, trail hikes and runs with an animal companion, ideally a couple times a day. I have a station wagon with a dog-friendly back hatch so I can drive reasonable distances with your pet, to parks or to the vet in an emergency. Since I grew up with animals in my family, it is second nature for me to incorporate animals' daily needs into my schedule and I do not consider it a burden. I am a neat, respectful and handy person. If I am invited into your home, I will treat it with the utmost respect and ensure that your household routines and expectations are consistently met. I am flexible and will be happy to adapt to a schedule that fits the needs of you and your pet in a non-disruptive way. Your pet will be in safe hands, and I will communicate with you as frequently as you wish, sending updates and pictures on request or at a pre-determined frequency that suits you.

About: I’ve loved dogs my whole life and have had dogs of my own, along with 10+ years of experience dog sitting for friends, family, and neighbors. I’m comfortable with all kinds of dogs and love getting them outside for a good walk, giving them some playtime and attention, or simply keeping them company during a drop-in visit. I’m reliable, active, and will treat your pup like my own! I have lots of availability over the next month before I start work, so I’m able to be pretty flexible with walks and drop-in visits! I’d love to fill my extra time with some furry friends and can work around your pup’s usual schedule and routine. Your pup’s safety and comfort are my top priorities! I’ll follow any instructions you leave for me, make sure they’re secure when coming and going, and give them lots of attention, playtime, and love.

Francois was wonderful! He arrived at our house punctually, and our Bernese Mountain Dog followed him out for his walk with a strut in his step. He was just as happy when he returned home and sat at Francois' feet while we chatted. It's clear that Francois is a dog person, and our dog senses that. We will definitely reach out to him again when the need arises!

  • 91% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
