About: I have owned dogs all my life and have experience training, walking and caring for them. I have owned several types of dogs so have learnt to handle different personalities. I have experience caring for dogs other than ones I own as well, such as babysitting for neighbours, extended family members and friends. I currently am a student at the university of York, on summer break until October. During this period I have no academic obligations, so my schedule is completely flexible seven days a week—including evenings and weekends. This open availability allows me to commit readily to regular or one-off engagements, accommodate last-minute requests, and dedicate consistent time and attention wherever it is needed. At home, I follow a consistent, safety-first routine: each of my dogs enjoys two purposeful walks every day, never less than an hour per outing. Whether we’re on-lead along busy pavements or in a secured, off-lead exercise area, I use well-fitted harnesses, high-visibility gear, and clear verbal cues to keep every dog under confident control. Years of working with energetic pups, strong pullers, and shy seniors have sharpened my ability to read canine body language and respond calmly to everything from sudden leash reactivity to distracted wandering. I proactively manage encounters with unfamiliar dogs—maintaining distance when needed, redirecting focus with positive reinforcement, and ensuring that every outing remains relaxed, enjoyable, and incident-free.
“I highly recommend Lauren as a dog and house sitter! She was on time, communicated clearly, and made everything incredibly easy. She took such wonderful care of Rue. We came home to a happy dog and a tidy house. I couldn’t ask for better care. Will definitely book again!”

About: I’ve taken care of family dogs and cats and while at university I walk and look after different dogs. I’ve been trusted to care for their beloved pets and understood the animals needs. I’m a university student and I’m home for the summer (about 4 months) so I have lots of free time.i have a car so it’s easy for me to get around. Also prices are negotiable I can change them to what works for you. I will follow all instructions you leave and will make sure your animal is as comfortable and sticks to its usual routine in your home.

“This is the first time I have left my dog at home with a sitter, he is 14 years old & a bit grumpy. Zanthi was great with him, and he was absolutely fine with her from the word go. Zanthi came to meet us before she came to sit & made friends with my dog. I went away happy that my dog was being cared for by her. She sent me regular updates & photos, and when I returned, the house was spotless. I would absolutely recommend Zanthi as a sitter, and will definitely be booking her again.”

“Phoebe looked after our two dogs while we were away and did a fantastic job from start to finish. Both dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly comfortable in her company. Beyond the dogs, she went well above what we’d expected. The house was immaculate when we got back: tidy, organized, and everything just as we’d left it. She also watered the plants and took care of feeding our other animals, so we came home to a household that had clearly been in very capable hands. Phoebe is reliable, thoughtful, and genuinely trustworthy, the kind of sitter you can leave in charge and not think twice about. We wouldn’t hesitate to have her back, and we recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for someone to care for their pets.”

“Martina is an amazing sitter and we would highly recommend her to anyone. She takes great care and pride in looking after our boy and shares amazing updates daily with pictures to ensure both us and the kids can see he is having a great time.”

“River took great care of my dog, Amber—I hope they both had a lovely day together. Communication was excellent throughout, with regular updates that really put my mind at ease. River was also very accommodating, happily staying longer than planned when my day unexpectedly ran over. Thank you!”

“Colin and Cris really went the extra mile to give Jet the best time while we were away on holiday. On top of that they left our home looking really neat and tidy. Thank you so much!”

“Our dog loved his time with Angela. She ensured he had plenty of walks, gave him lots of attention, and played endless tuggy. Angela stayed in regular contact, sent lots of photos and updates. She kept the house clean and tidy and I would highly recommend her if you are looking for an experienced, confident dog walker.”

“Luke recently house sat and looked after our pets for a week whilst we were abroad. At first I was a little nervous as have never used Rover before- we liked Luke’s profile and he was super responsive from the instant we reached out, despite being abroad himself at the time! He was empathetic and polite, warm and professional and answered all questions honestly. As we were entrusting our home to him, he was more than happy to come over to meet the dogs and see the house before we went ahead. He was punctual, polite, down to earth and clearly great with our two cockapoos! During the stay he sent regular updates & pics on WhatsApp and even offered to pick up a few supplies for us so we didn’t have an empty fridge to come back to! It gave us great peace of mind to have him house sit and I’d recommend him - we will be booking again!”

About: Hi, I'm Kirstie, thank you for looking at my profile! I have owned animals my whole life, we are definitely a family of animal lovers! At the moment we have eight cats, Joey, Lacie, Dynamo, Kurt, Saxon, Mini Big, Ginge and Gus, two long haired and the rest short haired. They all have their own unique personalities, but mostly have one thing in common, they love a fuss and a cuddle! We do have one cat who has her 'boundaries' and so I am used to those cats who prefer their own space! I could think of nothing better than spending my days getting to fuss over lots of different animals, cats are my first love but I have a soft spot for all animals 🥰 This is my full time job so I have plenty of availability! I work to their routine, in every way. They become family to me! I work to you and your pets routine, feeding times, walk times, where they sleep etc. Pets prefer to stay in their own homes, and I will do everything I can to make sure they feel at home with me.
About: My family has had dogs and cats my entire life. Our previous pets were a beautiful cocker spaniel and a ginger male cat. Now our home has no pets and I would be happy to help with yours! I am an equestrian specialist and have just returned from global work. My entire BSc degree and then career has been shaped around animal training and care, please get in touch for any help you need! While living in the Caribbean, I would spend some of my time off helping at the dog shelter on my street. I would take the adult dogs out for day trips at the beach (it was so sweet!). I am currently in the office two days a week (wed&thur). For the rest of the week I can choose how much work I complete! This is a great time for me to help out with pets. They are able to have my full attention. We have a grass covered garden that is well fenced in. Directly next to our house we have many fields and lovely walks. I am happy to take on any of your pets routines so they are comfortable. There is a 9 and 12 year old in my home part of the time. The time they are here will change weekly. They adore pets, and are great with animals… please be in contact about wether any boarding will be around the children or not :)
“I really can’t recommend Holly enough. She looked after my pup and my older dog whilst we were away on holiday. She took care of everything. And I don’t say that lightly. She had only previously met the girls briefly, but was a natural with them. Holly checked in with me daily, updating me with how the girls were getting on. She sent me photos of them on their walks, in the garden and snuggled up with her 🥰. This was so reassuring and I felt like I could relax and enjoy my holiday knowing they were in such good hands. She also took care of our home. She left the house immaculate and even double checked when bin day was, so we didn’t miss out. Holly was fantastic and we hope she’s be happy to help us again in the future 🙂 highly recommend. Thanks Holly.”

“Absolutely fantastic! One of dogs is extremely nervous and Johnnie went the extra mile in the run up to our holiday making sure she was comfortable with him and when one of the others caught his dew claw he organised the vet and the treatment immediately. The dogs absolutely love him and the peace of mind of being able to go away and not worry was priceless! I would not hesitate it booking Johnnie for our next trip.”

“Jess is a great dog sitter, we’ve tried a few on Rover and Jess is by far the best we’ve ever used. She kept us updated on the girls with plenty of great photos. The girls were all very happy and relaxed when we got home, we would definitely use Jess again. Thanks for looking after our girls”

About: I've been around dogs cars and small animals since I was young. I also take out my friends dogs for walks when needed as well as stay ir check in their house when they are away. I want to be able to do more dog walking and taking care of other animals as I enjoy being outdoors as well as taking care of others. I work flexible from home with a calm daily rhythm. I always go for long walks daily. I make sure that pets can get genuine quality time and attention from myself. I always make sure to get to understand what the pets routine is from the owner - feeding times, favourite walks, sleeping spots, toys like to play with. Consistency keeps the pet relaxed.
“Fiona was a delight to deal with and in all the arrangements she went out of her way to be helpful and ensure my dog, Lilly and cat, Daisy were happy and comfortable with her. She left my home spotless. I would thoroughly recommend her to anyone looking for a house sitter.”

“Millie was amazing looking after our 2 dogs while we were away for a long weekend. Kept us updated throughout. Wouldn’t hesitate in using her again when we next need our dogs caring for. Thanks again Millie!!”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - South Northamptonshire
We had such a lovely experience with Danny and Ruby and felt completely at ease leaving our dog and cat in their care. They were incredibly reliable and so kind and understanding when our plans changed unexpectedly due to the loss of another of our pets. Their flexibility and compassion really meant a lot to us during a difficult time. They sent loads of photo updates, which we absolutely loved, and it was clear our dog was having the best time with plenty of long, happy walks and lots of attention. It made being away so much easier knowing our pets and our house were so well cared for. They were always quick to respond, thoughtful in their communication, and just genuinely lovely to deal with. We’d happily book them again in a heartbeat and would recommend them without hesitation. We hope to see them again before too long - we think the dog might be pining!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Northamptonshire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
