About: I have had dogs all my life, most recently my last two dogs needed medication including insulin injections. Very experienced looking after dogs that need daily medication. My dog was an old boy when we had to say goodbye to him, so I understand the needs of senior dogs. I am retired and my wife works from home in pet insurance. Our days are spent around the home going out for shopping, but there is always someone home. I did do Rover for a while before, but stopped due to health. So I did have feedback but unfortunately not now. We have a lovely large fenced garden with a bit aviary with 40 budgies. Dogs do love to lie and watch them. We have a park close by for walks, however, your pet will never be off the lead at the park even if recall is good. Your pet will be treated like a member of our family and will not be forced to sleep on the floor unless this is what you want. They will be allowed on furniture and upstairs.
“We have never left our dogs with anyone other than family members before, but Maddy, John and their beautiful children made sure our dogs had the best time ever and we're looked after like they were part of the family. Thank you so much for sending over pictures. It was our wedding day so it was lovely to see the dogs were being taken care of. Can't recommend you enough, you have a lovely family. Thanks again, Steven, Rachel and the 2 dogs Sefton and Lola x”

“We couldn’t recommend Siobhan and Conor enough! They took such amazing care of our dog and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. We received regular updates and photos, which really helped us relax knowing she was happy, settled and being well looked after. 🐾💗 It was clear our girl had the best time and was treated like one of her own. We wouldn’t hesitate to leave her again and will definitely be booking again in the future. Thank you so much! 🥰”

“Daryl & Becky did an absolutely wonderful job looking after Coco for a week. We were given plenty of updates during the week, we wouldn’t hesitate to book them to look after Coco again ☺️”

“We have never used a dog sitter before and we were recommended to Tara through a friend. She has been fantastic with our dog. Rupert was a little nervous on the handover and Tara put Roo (and me!) at ease instantly. She is very welcoming and warm and clearly a complete natural with dogs. It really was a home from home for him for the weekend! She kept me updated with regular pictures and updates which was lovely. I can tell he had the best time! Mark was great with Arnie. Really helpful Meet & Greet with his dog, Sunni. And our dog and Sunni got on brilliantly. Sunni was quite excited when Arnie got dropped off at the house! Arnie had a lovely time playing with her. Mark sent updates, photos and videos letting me feel reassured that Arnie had settled in and was enjoying his stay. Would recommend and use again.

Would highly recommend Demi. She was very welcoming upon arrival and showing round the house and advising how she decompress Luna and get her settled in. Sent regular updates including photos/videos whilst we were away. And when picking Luna up advised how she was and how she settled in very quickly, which would could tell from the photos shared, as well as how happy Luna was after the stay. Will definitely use Demi again for any future stays.

We needed a sitter for our 2 dogs very last min and we found Greg & Sophie. Last min they arranged a meet and greet and we’ve never had a sitter before, so was anxious but they made the process so easy and simple and kept us updated throughout. I would highly recommend them❤️ The pups had a great time and were so looked after. Couldn’t thank them enough

Adam and his family were very accommodating with our cocker spaniel. They have a dog of their own and Oakley got on well with him. He sent pictures and updates which was very reassuring whilst we were away for a long weekend. I felt very comfortable and confident leaving Oakley with him and his family. Thank you for taking our much loved dog into your home.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in West Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
