“I left my dog Gizmo with Avgi for the night and I have to say at first I was nervous as I did not know how Gizmo would be but Avgi reassured me the moment she took his lead that I knew he was going to be looked after so well and that Gizmo would be happy staying with Avgi, I have to say she is a wonderful pet sitter and kept me informed of how he was doing and kept me posted about his general wellbeing and this made me so happy that all was fine and well and that Gizmo was happy in his environment with Avgi. I hope to book again sometime when the need arises. Anybody that needs a sitter for their beloved pets loom no further than Avgi as she is totally dedicated, loves to be with your pet and treats them as she would her own. I was really grateful for all Avgi did for Gizmo and for my own peace of mind in my view he went from a home to another home and settled in lovely and that had to be the attentive care given by Avgi to make his stay very comfortable and all this was achieved. Thank you so much Avgi, you are a real star and a brilliant asset to what you do. Brilliant, keep up the great work what you do 🙏❤️🐶”

About: I have been around animals all my life and was lucky enough to grow up with dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and hamsters- to name a few. I am a very loving, relaxed and laidback pet owner and love being around animals. I happily share my sofa and bed with my pets, so if that is something your dog would like, they would feel right at home when staying with me. My dog Oscar is a friendly and playful British bulldog and I also have 2 x 10 year old cats so any dog visiting would have friends to play with. I also have experience looking after puppies as well as older dogs. I work 4 long day a week but am free over the weekends to look after your dog. I generally walk Oscar once a day for an hour but sometimes he gets an additional half hour walk as well so can easily offer this for your dog. I have a large enclosed garden and space in the house to keep any dog separate from Oscar at nighttime if needed. There is also space for a crate if you prefer your dog to sleep in a crate.
“Can't rate Polly highly enough, Billy was looked after and loved. He was happy, we felt that the minute we arrived to pick him up. Thank you so much Polly for looking after and caring for our baby.”

“Milena looked after my dog Kara for a day & night and I couldn’t have asked for better care. She sent me plenty of updates and photos throughout, which gave me real peace of mind. Kara had a wonderful time playing with her dog Sky and her kids, and got lots of cuddles too. Kara is double-coated so struggles in the heat, it was 28 degrees so I was especially impressed that Milena was so thoughtful- she used a cooling blanket and even gave her some frozen blueberries and watermelon to keep Kara comfortable. It’s clear Milena genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. I’d happily leave Kara with her again and would recommend her without hesitation”

“Elly was absolutely brilliant with my greyhound Nev- he had such a good time with Dolly and friends that he was reluctant to leave when I came to pick him up!! I received regular updates throughout and would absolutely book Nev in with Elly again!”

“Thanks Paulina for having Biscuit!! I can see how happy she was with your family and loved spending time with you. Sorry to break your heart when I turned up to collect the dog, I know you fell in love with her. You followed the scheduled, took her out for her daily walks and treated her like your own child. I’m so thankful to have found your kind family and I will definitely be using you again, you are a natural with dogs!! Also you could sense what the dog was feeling straight away and had a sixth sense. I also noticed that you didn’t give in to my dogs fussy food behaviour as it took me a long time to learn this. Thanks so much!”

“Ria was a fantastic dog sitter for our pooches. She was accommodating, flexible and they clearly loved spending time with her. Ria kept me in the loop with what they were getting up to, with plenty of pictures too. I will absolutely be rebooking with her. Thank you Ria!”

“Chanel looked after our two corgi's whilst we were away. Kept up to date with photos daily of walks and the boys looking happy and tired afterwards. They had a great time away with Chanel.”

“Amazing pet sitting. My little chihuahua was super happy all the time. She got some gastrointestinal issues and Agnieszka was amazing treating her and always communicating with me. Thank you so much for all the love you gave to Lia!”

About: I bloody love animals. No, really. Working with animals is probably the only career I could get out of bed for on a daily basis. I've looked after pets of all varieties for about 20 years. Dogs, cats, budgies, chickens, ducks, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits - I even rode horses once. I am a psychologist by profession, and have a BSc and MSc degree. I work full time as a researcher in the Leicester/Nottingham area, and work primarily with mental health and personality disorder. It is because I'm a psychologist that I realise how important it is to spend time with animals. Just their presence is invariably good for psychological well-being, and come on, a dog skidding around on a floor is better entertainment than any TV. I think these dogsitting sessions would be fantastic, as it gives me a chance to help you while your pet brings a bit of joy to someone else. I am trustworthy, responsible and hardworking, and I live in a stable home with my partner; I am fully DBS checked and have experience working with children and vulnerable groups. Anything I can do to reassure you your pet is in good hands - I will. Drop me a message and let's work something out.

“Kyriakos and Stella looked after my Lucky so well. Great communication throughout his stay with them. He stayed for 7 nights. Thankyou to both for making him feel comfortable, safe and entertained.”

About: I’ve spent years caring for dogs who had no one. I have hands-on experience caring for 9–12 dogs daily, including feeding, walking, playing and providing basic medical care. In India, I was responsible for looking after stray dogs—ensuring they were safe, healthy, and never hungry. This taught me patience, responsibility, and how to understand different dog behaviours, from shy and nervous to energetic and playful. I’ve handled: Daily walks and exercise routines Feeding schedules and hygiene care Basic medication and health monitoring Dogs with different temperaments and needs I truly love dogs and naturally connect with them. I’m calm, attentive, and always focused on making sure every dog feels safe, happy, and loved. Now based in UK, I’m excited to give the same level of care and dedication to your pet. I have a very flexible schedule and can accommodate: Morning, afternoon, and evening walks Last-minute bookings Regular daily walks or long-term care I’m happy to adjust to your dog’s routine and needs to make sure they feel comfortable and cared for. I can tell my own experience- Before relocating to the UK, I ensured that all the dogs I cared for were responsibly handed over to local authorities so they would continue receiving proper food, medical care, and protection. I take long-term responsibility seriously and always put the well-being of animals first.

“Bethany really looked after our cockapoo well, he was welcomed into their home and we were kept updated with regular pictures. He looked right at home! 💙. I would definitely trust her to look after him again. Thank you.”

“Anna is absolutely amazing with pet care. I left my almost 6 months old puppy with Anna for a weekend and she's so patient and caring. Sends me regular updates and Kenji loves it with her, her family and the family dog. Anna's children also help and play with Kenji. Would definitely recommend and will be keeping Kenji with Anna, often.”

“Dimitra and Family were the perfect hosts for my Lily whilst I was away with work. Communication from the point of enquiry was always great and I had the pleasure of being able to visit Dimitra and Family at their home prior to making the booking, which left me well at ease and I was greatful to be able to see where Lily would be staying whilst I was away. Throughout my time away, Dimitra sent me regular updates, along with pictures, detailing Lily's daily activities etc which really helped to keep my mind at ease. It was my first time leaving lily for a prolonged period of time but Dimitra really took the time to make sure that Lily was really well cared for. I would highly recommend Dimitra to anyone looking for a comfortable stay for their furry friend and will certainly be using Dimitra again. Lily had the BEST time! Thank you again so much!”

Genuinely couldn’t fault Rob and Hayley ! Took amazing care of my Yorkshire terrier Maple brilliant with updates to make me feel reassured but most importantly Maple was made to feel like she was In a home away from Home 😁 she loved her time there and will definitely be back in the future ! Thank you so much again guys look after yourselves 😊

Chang had looked after my two cats for a week when my family went abroad. When we went to see her she was very nice and friendly and was open to listen to any specifics about how the cats should be kept or what they eat. Whilst away, she kept me constantly updated and let me knew how the cats were getting along, how much they were/weren’t eating and if there was any litter issues etc. Though my cats hadn’t stayed with others before they seemed very comfortable and she made sure they were constantly well looked after. If I’m ever away for a period of time again, Chang is someone who I would trust to look after them again.
Max has enjoyed another great stay with Alessandros. We received regular photos and updates and could relax knowing Max was having a lovely stay. Communication was excellent all round and I would recommend Alexandros to anyone looking for a home from home stay for their dog.

Holly provided a wonderful service when looking after our black lab Norton. She put my mind at ease immediately when we arranged a meet up before I went ahead with the booking. Holly clearly has a love for animals and is keen to know all the little details about your pet so that she can ensure an enjoyable stay is had. We will definitely be using Holly again without hesitation.

My Lola had never stayed away from the family before, but she immediately bonded with Jyoti and Alo (the house dog). Jyoti is very kind, attentive, and spends a lot of time with the pets in her care. During Lola’s 5-day stay with Jyoti, I received frequent updates and photos showing how Lola spent her days. She has a spacious area and a lovely garden where the pets can run around freely. I can highly recommend Jyoti.

Julia was absolutely amazing with Safia ❤️ From the very beginning, she was caring, attentive, communicative, and incredibly thoughtful. She kept me updated throughout the stay with detailed messages about walks, food, water, playtime, and how Safia was doing emotionally, which gave me so much peace of mind, and the most thorough report about her day. She even washed and dried Safia’s blanket after a little accident without hesitation, such a kind gesture that truly shows how much she cares! Safia clearly felt comfortable and loved with Julia and her family, and it made me so happy to hear how well she got along with everyone 😊 I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better person. I would trust Julia again without a second thought and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable, warm, patient, and genuinely loving with dogs. Thank you again for taking such wonderful care of Safia 🐾

We left our Yorkie Loki with Maria for 4 days, and he was very happy there. Maria took care of him exceptionally well, ensuring he slept, ate, and exercised enough. We were worried, as Loki has never stayed with a stranger away from us for any period of time, but despite this being a first for him, he has been happy and well taken care of. I am extremely grateful to Maria for this, and we will most definitely go to Maria again whenever we need a sitter for our baby.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
