“Mariah was absolutely incredible! This was my first time leaving my puppy and she sent so many updates and treated my dog Archer as if he was her own. I would highly recommend her to any dog owner and I will be using her again in the future!”

“Hailey was absolutely amazing, and I cannot recommend her highly enough! She recently house sat for me while caring for my two dogs, Archie and Griffin, and she exceeded every expectation. From the moment we met, Hailey was warm, professional, trustworthy, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. She took exceptional care of Archie and Griffin, giving them so much attention, affection, and excellent care while I was away. She also provided updates and photos, which gave me tremendous peace of mind. Not only did Hailey take wonderful care of my dogs, but she also looked after my home with the utmost respect and care. I returned to a spotless house and two very happy, relaxed pups—a true testament to the love and attention she gave them. It is such a gift to be able to travel knowing that both your pets and your home are in such capable and caring hands. Hailey went above and beyond in every way, and I would not hesitate to have her house and dog sit for me again. If you’re considering Hailey, book her with complete confidence—you and your pets will be incredibly fortunate to have her!”

“This was the first time Jaden stayed with my 11 yo german shepherd and I couldnt be happier. She followed the schedule, I got updates and pics and my house looks like no one was here! Have already booked her for another visit!”

About: Hi, I’m Ashley! I’m a lifelong animal lover with experience as a professional dog walker and pet sitter for a local pet sitting company. I’ve cared for both dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities, and I’ve also had the privilege of fostering animals, which has given me even more experience understanding their unique needs. I’m a proud cat mom to two cats of my own and know firsthand how much our pets mean to us. I treat every animal I care for like they are my own, whether that means going on walks, giving lots of love and attention, keeping up with their routines, or simply making sure they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I truly enjoy spending time with animals and would love the opportunity to care for your furry family member! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m an early riser and love starting my mornings with walks, so I’m available for morning dog walks and drop-in visits. My full-time career is in real estate, which allows me to have a flexible schedule and work on the go. I’m able to build pet care into my day and provide reliable, loving attention while you’re away. Caring for animals is something I truly enjoy and look forward to making part of my routine. I primarily care for pets in my client’s home, where I focus on keeping their routine as consistent and comfortable as possible. I know pets feel safest in their own environment, so I follow their normal feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special instructions from their owners. I provide lots of love, attention, and updates so you can feel confident your pets are happy and cared for while you’re away.

“Ellana was great! Had a meet and greet beforehand - felt like she would care for our dog/house like it was her own. Sent us pics while we were gone, followed all instructions, washed sheets (we didn't ask her to). We'll be using her again in the future and I recommend her without reservation!”

“Christian was great! My dog gets separation anxiety when I leave and anytime I asked for an update, he was quick to respond. He was very accommodating to any requests I had. Looking forward to using him again in the future!”

“Michele was amazing. She gave my puppy Lila a grand adventure while I was out of town for the weekend. She sent plenty of pictures and updates to keep me informed. I know my pup was in great hands and looked so happy in all of her pictures. I’m so lucky to have found Michele to house and dog sit for me, she made it less stressful and easy! Will definitely use her again!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind my whole life, with a special passion for large breeds. Growing up with my own large dogs and walking neighborhood dogs throughout high school and college has given me hands-on experience with all sizes, energy levels, and personalities. Neighbors, friends, and family have trusted me for years to walk, feed, bathe, and play with their pets. I’m reliable, patient, and genuinely love spending time with dogs — especially the big ones who need plenty of exercise and attention. Whether it’s a quick walk, overnight sitting, or just some quality playtime, I’m committed to keeping your dog happy, safe, and well-cared for. I’m currently working part-time, which gives me plenty of flexibility for pet care. I’m available every day until 2pm, plus evenings and weekends for boarding, drop-ins, or walks. Whether you need morning playtime, midday check-ins, or full overnight stays, I can work around your schedule to keep your dog happy and well-cared for. About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life (ranging from Miniature Schnauzers to German Shepherds), which has given me a great amount of experience with all energy levels & personalities. I’ve taken care of family, friends, and neighbors’ dogs throughout the years. I love dogs of all sizes and have my own, Bernese Mountain Dog, who is 2 years old. I genuinely love spending time with dogs… whether it’s a walk, playtime or an overnight stay! I am fully dedicated to keeping your dog happy and secure. I currently work an 8am-5pm accounting job (that is an 8 minute commute from my apartment) during the week, so I am available before or after my day job. I am free on weekends. I have the most loving, gentle dog at home (he is 2yr old Bernese Mountain Dog). He loves other dogs (small & large). I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, in an area that is extremely dog friendly.
“Outstanding. It is hard to find a person to trust with your home, but I give this individual five stars without reservation. Highly recommend.”

“Jennifer was a godsend in a last minute booking for Bona! She did a great job communicating and keeping us up to date on how our dog was doing. 10/10 Would recommend Jennifer.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Tampa
Mariah was absolutely wonderful! She stayed at my home to care for my Yorkie while I was away on a work trip, and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She was professional, thorough, responsible, and most importantly, incredibly kind and caring. She consistently shared updates and photos, which meant so much to me. I was extremely busy with work, so being able to sneak a quick peek at a photo of my pup and know he was happy and well cared for was such a relief. I felt completely comfortable knowing he was in good hands, and I would 100% recommend Mariah to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to look after their pets. I would absolutely book her again!

Hailey, once again took such good care of Archie and Griffin. It is so comforting and reassuring to know that while I’m away the brothers are being taken care of so well. They are always so happy to see Hailey! Im sure she was smothered in lots of love and snuggles from them! Hailey is #1 on our Rover list!

Evanette took great care of my dog while I was away. She followed all of my instructions, sent regular updates and photos, and made me feel confident that he was in good hands. My pup was happy and well cared for when I got home, which is the best review I can give. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter.

Christian was such a great sitter! We had our other sitters cancel on us very last minute (6 pm on a Friday night when they were supposed to come at 7) and Christian was able to get to us so quickly. We really appreciated his flexibility, his willingness, and he did a great job taking care of our pups and our home. Our dogs got very comfortable with him (we have a German shepherd so that’s a big deal). We will definitely be using him again in the future.

Kiran is incredible! She took amazing care of my bunny Theo for an extended period of time, always making sure to update me throughout the day with photos! She went above and beyond to make sure he felt comfortable. I would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional pet sitter.

Jordan was absolutely amazing. Firstly, we asked her to watch the dogs on a holiday weekend (4th of July) and needed her to stay in the whole evening of the 4th because my dog gets nervous with fireworks. She stayed with them the entire evening and sent me updates along the way! She left the house spotless and went above and beyond caring for both of my dogs over the three nights/four days she was with them. I 100% recommend her for any pet sitting needs - from my experience, she is very kind and trustworthy

Jolie was the best! She watched my two senior dogs with one having urine incontinence. She stayed at our house and was very respectful and very responsive. My pets are my world so I get the anxiety that comes with leaving them with a sitter and felt more then comfortable the whole time!

Carolina went above and beyond! She did amazing with our three energetic herding dogs and they absolutely loved her. She sent tons of videos of her playing with them, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She also left the house in great shape, and we came home to three happy, content pups. Highly recommend her! We will definitely be contacting her again in the future. Thank you so much, Carolina!

Hope is the best! She house sat in our home for a 3-night stay and it was a fantastic experience working with her. She arrived early, handled our stubborn and blind senior dog with patience, and our home was in perfect condition when we got back into town. On top of all that, there was an unexpected A/C outage during her stay, which she never once complained about and she helped fix!. We are looking forward to working with her again soon.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Tampa on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 4,552 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Tampa. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tampa walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tampa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tampa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tampa. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
