“Irina was fabulous!! This was only the third time we've ever left Smitty and the first time he wasn't with family. With her amazing attitude and attention, he thrived! Smitty had a great time with Irina and their dog, and we knew he would from the moment we dropped him off. We were nervous to leave him, but it was so clear he was in good times. Next time we're traveling without our pup, we'll definitely bring him back to Irina's!”

“Chelsea is an angel. My Rocky is terrified of people and we didn’t think we would be able to leave him with anyone but Chelsea went above and beyond to make him feel safe and secure. She even hand fed him to get him to eat.”

“Rachel is an amazing dog sitter! She was dependable and so sweet to my pup! I appreciated the thoughtful daily updates. I felt so comfortable knowing my dog was loved when at Rachel’s!”

“Thomas was awesome! My wife and I have been using Rover for a few years, and this was our first time booking with him. The experience exceeded our expectations. We have a very shy Schnauzer, but Thomas and his family treated him like one of their own. It was clear that they genuinely cared for him and made him feel comfortable while we were away. We also ran into some unexpected complications when returning from our trip, and Thomas was incredibly understanding and accommodating. His flexibility and willingness to help made a stressful situation much easier and allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our vacation. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your fur baby with love and care, I highly recommend Thomas. We will definitely be booking with him again!”

“Eden & Gal are fantastic! They are organized and experienced, and our pup was happy and well cared for. The communication before and during our trip was excellent and clear. We felt at ease leaving our dog with them for an extended trip and will definitely book with them again!”

“Staci watched our dog overnight and kept us updated with information and pics throughout the stay. She was very responsive to any communication from booking until pick up. We highly recommend!”

“The girls had a great time. Ashley sent pictures daily. She let me see the yard and areas where the girls would be to make me feel better as my little one is an escape artist. Ashley was great at communicating. I will definitely use her again.”
“During the booking process, Alyssa asked really thoughtful questions and prompt responses to ensure her home would be a good fit for our dog. She was then very patient and responsive to our dog through some heightened anxiety while he adjusted to being away from us. She provided everything he needed (calm presence, solid walks) and communicated clearly with pictures and updates about how he was settling in during his stay. I would trust her with our dog again and highly recommend!”

About: I grew up with both cats and dogs, so caring for animals has always come naturally to me and remains one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I currently have my own dog, who I adopted as a puppy while I was in college and is now 4 years old. Raising her has given me experience with training, building routines, and understanding different stages of a dog’s development. I’m comfortable administering medication, brushing and bathing, handling anxious behaviors, and keeping pets on their regular care schedules. I also have experience walking dogs that pull and can confidently handle strong or high-energy pups while keeping walks safe and structured. Whether your pet needs active playtime, consistent routines, or gentle care and attention, I’m patient and attentive, and I treat every pet like my own. As a current medical student, I understand the importance of flexibility and prioritizing a pet's needs. I pride myself on being reliable, communicative, and dependable. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I am excited to learn about your pet's unique personality and am more than happy to accommodate any specific requests. As a medical student, my schedule is currently very flexible, which allows me to thoughtfully plan pet care into my daily and weekly routine. While there are periods of time when I am less available, I’m committed to clear communication about my availability and will always work to accommodate your pet’s needs as best as possible. Time management is extremely important to my academic program, and I bring that same organization, dependability, and attention to detail to pet care. I take pride in my work and practice compassionate, attentive care in everything I do. Most importantly, I genuinely love animals and value the trust you place in me to care for them. In my home, I provide a safe, calm, and structured environment where pets can feel comfortable and secure. I currently live in an apartment located directly across the street from a dog park with both large and small dog areas, which allows for convenient, safe, and appropriate exercise based on your dog’s size and temperament. The neighborhood is safe and very pet-friendly. I’m attentive to maintaining each pet’s normal routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any medications or special care needs. I make sure pets receive both physical activity and plenty of attention and affection. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize consistency and respect for your space. I’m happy to follow detailed instructions and maintain your pet’s usual routine to minimize stress. I’m also willing to travel or make special trips if your dog attends daycare, has a preferred park, or enjoys a specific walking route. My goal is to make your pet feel as comfortable and cared for as possible, wherever they are.
“After our dog boarding situation fell through for the week of Christmas, I stumbled upon Matthew and Christie (and their kids) on Rover. Not only were they able to accommodate our last minute reservation, but they were incredibly flexible when a million things went wrong on the tail end of our trip causing delay after delay. All that was awesome, but mostly it was their care and love for our dog (who’s truly the baby of our family and we are all just head over heels for) that was apparent and left us feeling completely at ease. We will absolutely be hitting them up again! We are so grateful to have stumbled upon such a caring loving family to care for our pup when we go out of town.”

“Tia is absolutely fantastic! She and her family took such great care of our dog. This is the third time we’ve left her with Tia and have had a great experience every time. We received regular updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind while away. Highly recommend Tia to anyone looking for reliable and compassionate pet care!”

“Ginnie and I communicated almost every day about how the dogs were doing. When I arrived to pick them up, they appeared very calm and well cared for. I would definitely recommend Ginnie.”

“Love love love!! My Onyx has the best night ever while Mom and Dad were away for the night. Jeane kept in communication with us and had us resting easy knowing our baby was so loved! We are in the area for work for a few months and I have uses a couple sitters here in SYR. Jeane is our absolute favorite and we can't wait for the next time Onyx can visit his new friends! ❤️”

About: I am from a very rural town so I've been around animals all my life. Growing up we had 2 cats and a large dog that were primarily my responsibility as my siblings are much younger than me. I worked at an office that had 2 dogs and MANY foster cats amd kittens that I helped take of. I have also pet sit my friend's large dog whenever she goes away for the weekend or for a vacation. I have previous experience here on Rover caring for an elderly large breed dog with limited mobility. I have also taken a veterinary science course and am very comfortable having to administer medications or treatments that are needed. I'm currently working part time in Binghamton. I'm in town Sunday-Wednesday every week and am willing to be flexible on the weekends. I work in an office downtown near Court St Mondays and Tuesdays 9-5 with an hour break where I can do checkins or short walks. I can also adjust the schedule slightly if needed. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays I am typically out of town, but that's not always the case. I'm always open to talk through my schedule on a case by case basis! I'm very open to instruction. I think owners know their pets and their routine best, so just let me know how you want the visit to look and I will make it happen!

This was our second time leaving our Monchichi with Kelsey, and for a longer time. He truly loves being with her and all the activities he had during his 3 night stay! We love how she takes such good care of him and you can tell she really enjoys what she does. He came back home happy and we know he enjoyed his time with her. It’s also great that she sent us regular updates and pictures and videos of him. We will definitely only have Kelsey watch him and we highly recommend her high level of service!

I’m terrible with leaving a review, today I want to take the time out my busy schedule to say how much I absolutely love you all for caring for my fur baby you’ve done such a great job over these few years, and it’s much appreciated. I never worry when my Lola is in your hands under your care. Thank you so much! She loves you all as well. 💕😁

Julie was absolutely wonderful with our golden retriever Toby! She was also very patient with us as we needed a sitter last minute and was flexible with us on dates. She went above and beyond for us and Toby while we were away, and we are so grateful. Would recommend Julie in a heartbeat and will certainly book again. Thanks Julie!!

Can’t say nothing but amazing things. Emily made me feel like I was there with my dog. From the start her communication really helped this experience an easy one. Emily has a passion for Animals and will help u feel confident and comfortable leaving ur dog in her care. Nothing but love and kindness.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
