“Diana was fantastic and we would 100% book her again. Our two dogs took to her quickly at our initial meeting, which put me at great ease. She stayed in our home for 3 nights with our 11 month old puppy and our 14 year old dog. They both have completely different personalities and needs. Diana sent us videos and photos of the dogs, and little updates each day. The house was also well taken care of and looked as if no one had been here. We were able to enjoy our trip without worry and knew the dogs were in good hands. I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a sitter.”

“Kristi was amazing with our crew !! She knew we had just taken in our Gracie as a rescue pug and gave her all the extra love and snuggles that she needed to feel safe and loved ....she spent lots of extra time in our home to ensure they didn't feel our absence even working remotely at our place which was great for our pugs/cats. She kept us informed of daily events and sent lots of snuggle snaps which made us feel better. Kristi even left us homemade biscotti for our return home. I can say with full confidence that Kristi is motivated by love of animals and helping others...we will most certainly hire her back to our home for all our Rover needs :)”

“Julie is incredibly kind with Romina and treats her as if she were her own cat. She kept me updated with photos throughout the stay, which gave me so much peace of mind. She made sure Romina was well fed, spent time playing with her, and even slept beside her. It was clear that Romina was loved and cared for the entire time. I’m so grateful and would absolutely trust Julie with Romina again.”

“Emalyn was fantastic. I felt I could trust her from the time she walked in the door and the pups took right to her. She did a fantastic job. It was the first vacation I had in years and although I missed my dogs horribly, I knew they were safe and sound. I will continue to use her as long as she wants to pupsit. Also, it just wasnt my dogs, she had the utmost respect for my house. I believe she took better care of everything than I left it for her. I am so grateful for her.”

“Kendra was so lovely to work with - she was friendly, understanding, and communicative. She was great about checking in with regular updates, and she took excellent care of our dogs and our home while we were away. Would definitely love to work with her again!”

“Nick was great in watching my dog, Remy, for over a week. He stayed at my apt, left everything clean, and made significant efforts to make Remy feel comfortable when I was away. Initially, I was nervous to leave my dog with a stranger but Nick's communication throughout his stay made me feel at ease. Would highly recommend his services to other dog owners.”

“Our three dogs with very different needs can be a lot to manage (a rambunctious 18 month old, a five year old, and an elder dog in significant decline), and Adriana took great care of all of them simultaneously. She asks the right questions and communicates clearly and quickly to resolve anything that comes up. We could not be happier with how she works with us and cares for Maddie, Olaf, and Otter.”

“Kara bonded with my cat, which is not easy to do, but important to my cat's and my peace of mind! She was great at communicating and sending updates & pics. She took good care of my home. Kara is an interesting person also!”

“We had an excellent experience with Yelitza as dog sitter and would happily book with her again. From the very beginning, she was incredibly communicative, sending frequent updates and lots of photos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. What impressed us most was how quickly our dogs warmed up to her during the meet and greet. One of our dogs is extremely shy and nervous around new people, so seeing Richard immediately comfortable with our sitter was remarkable and spoke volumes about her calm, caring demeanor. She also went above and beyond throughout the stay. Not only did she take wonderful care of our dogs, but she cleaned up after them without being asked and even brought in packages that arrived while we were away. Those thoughtful extra touches were such a pleasant surprise. We returned home to happy, well-cared-for dogs and felt completely confident that they were in great hands. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and genuinely caring pet sitter.”

“Riley is great! He met with our Poppy girl and even with her being such a leash reactive dog and very shy, he chose to sit her. I’m so grateful for him. She did great with him and he was giving us updates regularly. Thanks Riley!”

About: I’ve had pets since I was a child. Dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, birds - you name it. I’ve always been an animal lover and even wanted to be a veterinarian until I found out was euthanasia is. In my adolescence, I began pet sitting and volunteering with the SPCA (where we adopted all of our pets); small and big dogs, and sometimes multiple at a time. I started to experiment with training and enjoyed teaching tricks and obedience commands. When I turned 19, I inherited my family dog, Rocco, and we became best friends. My favorite memories from those years are taking him to parks and reserves across New York State. In 2025, he got sick and I learned a lot from taking care of him through the end of his life. It was important to me that he felt like a happy, special dog during his last days because he filled my life with so much joy. The day before his euthanasia, I invited everyone who knew him to celebrate his life. He was showered in presents and treats and cuddles and surrounded by humans he loved. Animals share such unique bonds with us. Now, I am looking for opportunities to share my love of animals through Rover. I hope you consider me as your next pet sitter. I am available! My best times are evenings and weekends, with sporadic availability midday during the week. I work 8-4 Monday through Thursday at a local farm collective in Kirkville and a community garden in South Syracuse. In my free time, I enjoy making art in all kinds of media and being outside. I am looking to spend my time with animals and make their lives happy and bright! Trust and safety is my utmost priority. Through many years of being around different animals, I learned the important of an initial bond based in trust and respect. I hold myself with strength and create an energy of a safe and inviting environment. I am able to gauge an animal’s personality and demeanor, and adjust accordingly. For pets that love to play, I am always happy to bring out my goofy and fun-loving side. For more reserved companions, I enjoy taking things slow and doing calmer activities. Most of all, a pet’s joy and comfort is my number one goal!
“Macenzie was absolutely wonderful with our pup! She was super communicative, sent photos throughout the day & kept us informed with her coming & going though it was not requested. Left the house is wonderful shape as well! Highly recommend !”

“Tyler was very thoughtful, communicative, and helpful the whole time I was away. I felt completely comfortable having him in my home . . . and based on the pics so did my dog Cooper :) would have Tyler back any time!”

“Alyssa did a wonderful job with Chicken!! -- especially given her special needs. I appreciate the communication and pictures/videos that Alyssa sent. Given that Chicken is an older cat and has some vision issues, it was nice to know that she was well taken care of. Thank you Alyssa!!!”

“Maria was incredible to work with. I was nervous to leave my best friend in the care of anyone besides me but my nerves were quickly relieved. Maria took the time to have a meet and greet so he knew her beforehand and also was extremely professional, asking lots of relevant questions to make sure she knew exactly what to do. Frequent photo updates kept me from wondering about him on my vacation. 100% would recommend Maria and I will be using her again”

“So grateful for John! Very understanding of the difficulties I had leaving my Luna for the first time like this - sent me multiple texts, pictures and videos assuring me she was doing well and happy. Very flexible with my schedule and made the point to come meet Luna ahead of time on a previous day. Very attentive to Luna's schedule and her specific little quirks. Luna clearly enjoyed her time, giving John a super speed tail wag and some kisses before we left.”

About: I’ve grown up with a family dog for most of my life, so caring for pets has always felt natural and comforting to me. For the past 3 years, I’ve had my own dog, Milo, who is now 3 years old and the sweetest companion. He loves making new friends, so your pets will always have a buddy around to keep them company. :) I’m a junior in college studying biomedical sciences with a focus on veterinary medicine, and caring for animals is truly my passion. I’m home most of the time, only stepping out for short 2–3 hour classes so your pets will never go long without love and attention. I’m experienced in giving medications, caring for both energetic puppies and gentle seniors, and making sure every pet feels safe and cherished. When your pets are with me, I’ll treat them like family, making sure to send lots of photos and videos so you can feel completely at ease while you’re away. Pet care is truly part of my everyday life. Since I’ve always had dogs growing up and now have my own 3-year-old pup, Milo, caring for animals naturally fits into my daily routine. I’m home most of the time, and the longest I’m away is just a couple of hours for class, so there’s plenty of time for walks, play, feeding, and lots of cuddles. Milo is an extremely active dog so I already have a routine filled with love, activity, and attention, and I happily extend that same care to any pets I’m looking after. Whether it’s sticking to a feeding schedule, giving medications, or just spending quality time, I make sure every pet feels included, cared for, and safe throughout my day. My home is fully puppy-proofed, nothing dangerous is ever left out since my own dog loves to chew and explore. It’s a safe and comfortable space where pets can relax, play, and feel right at home. I also have space for a crate if that’s part of your pet’s routine. Milo, my 3-year-old pup, is very friendly and loves having company. He’s always happy to play, but he’s also great at respecting other dogs’ space if they’d rather just relax. Your pet will always have the choice of companionship or quiet time. While I don’t have a fenced-in yard, we go every day to a large, fenced-in park that is usually empty where the dogs can run, play, and get plenty of exercise. Between indoor play, outdoor adventures, and lots of love and attention, I’ll make sure your pet feels safe, cared for, and happy during their stay.
About: What sets me apart is my lifelong experience caring for animals. I’ve had pets my entire life and understand that every animal has unique needs, personalities, and routines. I’m patient, attentive, and committed to making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I have experience caring for pets of different ages and temperaments, including energetic young pets that need extra play and attention, as well as older pets that benefit from a gentler approach and consistent routines. I treat every pet as if they were my own and focus on providing dependable, compassionate care that gives owners peace of mind. 🐾 Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because caring for animals has always been a part of my life. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to feeding, walks, playtime, exercise, and companionship based on each pet’s needs. I am reliable, organized, and committed to maintaining consistent routines so pets feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. Whether it’s daily visits, overnight care, or regular walks throughout the week, I make sure every pet receives the attention, care, and affection they deserve. 🐾 When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping them comfortable by following their normal routine as closely as possible. This includes feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, litter box or yard cleanup, administering basic medications if needed, and providing plenty of attention and companionship. I also make sure the home stays clean, secure, and exactly as the owner expects. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment where pets can relax, play, and receive plenty of supervision and affection. I pay close attention to each pet’s individual needs, personality, and routine to ensure they feel happy, comfortable, and well cared for at all times. My goal is to treat every pet like a member of my own family. 🐾💕

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Syracuse
We had an excellent experience with Yelitza and would absolutely book with her again. She was incredibly communicative, sending regular updates and lots of photos and videos which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Tuffy was so comfortable with Yelitza - she is very calm and loving. She took wonderful care of our dog, brought in packages that arrived while we were gone, and ran the dishwasher when she left! We came home to a relaxed, and well-cared-for dog, and it was clear he had been in great hands. We highly recommend Yelitza to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and compassionate pet sitter.

Quinn took wonderful care of our two German Shepherds, Pablo and Leo, while we were away for the day. She was attentive, patient, and made sure they were happy, comfortable, and well looked after. It was obvious they were in great hands, which gave us real peace of mind. She kept us updated throughout the day with messages and photos. When we got home, Pablo and Leo were happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. Our house was also spotless, and everything was exactly as we left it. We would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for someone to care for their pets and home. We’ll definitely be booking her again. Thank you!

Riley was super responsive and flexible. He came over three times to meet our dogs before housesitting, which went a long way toward helping us feel comfortable. He always responded to my messages very quickly and was adaptable when plans had to be modified a bit. He was communicative and sent photos while we were away. Thanks Riley!

Isabel was by far the best dog sitter I’ve ever hired! She constantly kept me updated with so many pictures and status on what she was doing with Westyn and without me even asking! She went above and beyond to make sure he was super comfortable and well taken care of while I was out of town for work. I wo definitely be utilizing her services in the near future.

RJ was AMAZING with my babies. I’ve never had such a more relaxed time away from home. I was constantly updated throughout the day with messages and pictures. The dogs absolutely loved their time at home while I was away when typically they have separation anxiety. I would absolutely recommend RJ to anyone looking for a down to earth, well skilled and talented sitter!!

Desiree was amazing! She was available for us very last minute and made the whole experience easy and worry-free. Even though we were only gone for one night, she kept us updated the entire time and sent pictures, which we really appreciated. Our dogs are older and very relaxed, and it was clear they were comfortable and well cared for. She took them on a walk, stayed longer than planned, and we came home to a clean house. We will definitely be booking with Desiree again and highly recommend her!

Cammie was very quick to respond and do a meet and greet same day we reached out. She was very attentive, took very good care of the animals and communicated every time she fed and let my dog out to potty. This was my first time using Rover for my animals and I will definitely be using Cammie again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Syracuse on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 341 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Syracuse. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Syracuse walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Syracuse maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Syracuse choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Syracuse. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
