“Roscoe is a rescue dog that we adopted in May this year. We were very concerned to be leaving for a vacation just 2 months later. He is such a great dog & we didn't want for him to think we were abandoning him. As soon as we met Sherri we were sure we had an answer to our prayers. We could not have found a better place for Roscoe to be. He had a wonderful week at Sherri's. We received many updates & pictures on how he was doing & never for a minute worried about him because it was obvious how much fun he was having. We enjoyed our vacation guilt free because we knew Roscoe was getting as much love & attention as we give him. Our only concern was that he might not want to come home because he had so much fun with Sherri's fur babies. ? We will be back Sherri!”

“Brent was great to work with - very flexible, and very patient with my anxious boy. Did a great job communicating and was very accommodating in working with me and my daughter on drop off/pick up times. Buster was in great shape when he got home, got all of his medications on schedule, and when my daughter picked him up she said he looked very happy... will definitely look forward to trusting my bestest boy with Brent again in the future!”

“Thank youuuu for taking such good care of our sweet Kenya!!! Thank you for all the love you gave to her, the walks and games, the photos and detailed updates. We could tell she had a blast the whole time she was with you guys 🥹💕”

“Nina was a lifesaver! She was able to schedule a meet and greet, and book our dog for the weekend with short notice. She was very communicative. We received updates, and pictures, which was so appreciated. Our dog seemed very content during his stay with Nina. We are looking forward to using her again!”

“Alyssa always takes great care of River. Even when something came up right before drop off and she wasn't able to be home, she arranged for someone to help him get settled until she could return.”

“Christine and Matt were great! My dog seemed to fit in perfectly with their two pups and they gave me daily updates! I would definitely recommend.... Look forward to using them again.”

“Erix was amazing with my baby Nino. This was my first time leaving him since I adopted him so this mama was a nervous wreck. But he sent me lots of pics n videos which put my heart at ease. Will definitely be using him again!!”

“Margaret was Sooo amazing! Last minute bookingand a new to being boarded kitty. It was great I got to learn how my kitty would respond in such a healthy environment.”

“We couldn’t be happier with how Ginnie handled and took care of Maggie for us. Maggie seemed very comfortable at Ginnie’s and that made us feel like we made the correct decision. Great experience all around!”

“Jose was great! Attentive, communicative, and active with my pups! Walked them, let them run around the fenced in yard, and lots of pics of them lounging on the couch :) would 100% book again!”

“Lindsey is a great dog sitter! I wasn't able to have my dog Zoe with me for Christmas this year, so she got to spend it with Lindsey and her family. Zoe was right at home there on "the farm" and really enjoyed being part of the family. She made some new friends with the chickens and horses and Lindsey's two dogs who were very friendly with Zoe. I highly recommend Lindsey if you have a dog who likes to be social and likes small children and other animals. Thank you Lindsey for taking such good care of my girl!”

“Teresa and Dan took exceptional care of our dog, Layla, while we were out of town. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much they cares about the animals in their care. Her property is absolutely wonderful, very clean, well-maintained, and offers plenty of space for dogs to run, play, and enjoy themselves. Knowing Layla was in such a safe, loving environment gave us complete peace of mind during our trip. Teresa kept us updated and treated Layla like one of her own. When we picked her up, she was happy, relaxed, and clearly had a great time. I highly recommend Teresa and Dan to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional dog sitter. We will definitely be using her services again! 🐾❤️”

“Chelsea is a great petsitter. It has all the qualities we seek when we leave our pets with someone. I want to thank Chelsea and her family very much for taking such good care of my little one! Thank you!”

“Mindy had another fabulous stay at her home away from home with Eden and Gal. We love all of the fun updates and pics Eden sends us and are so grateful that Mindy is always in the very best care during her stays!”

“Best family we could have left our girl with. I think she was a little sad to come back with us! Attentive and kind people that sent us regular updates. Thank you for taking such good care of her!!”

“Irina was fabulous!! This was only the third time we've ever left Smitty and the first time he wasn't with family. With her amazing attitude and attention, he thrived! Smitty had a great time with Irina and their dog, and we knew he would from the moment we dropped him off. We were nervous to leave him, but it was so clear he was in good times. Next time we're traveling without our pup, we'll definitely bring him back to Irina's!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Liverpool
Polina is truly a 5 star pet sitter. She takes such great care, makes sure they have plenty of walks, as well as attention. I cannot say enough good things about her and recommend her highly. I would trust her with my dog anytime. When I was leaving this past visit she even asked if she could say good bye to my dog one more time. My dog is always excited to see her and doesn’t even realize when I leave. She comes back to me healthy and happy. Polina does amazing work and I know my dog can’t wait to see her again next time.

My favorite thing about Brent is that he takes dog sitting very seriously. I was so grateful that Brent values the important of meeting us and our dogs to ensure the safety of both our dogs and his dog. Brent is great at communication and gives thoughtful updates. My dogs came home happy and tired. We will absolutely book Brent again to take care of our babies. Thank you, Brent!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
