From the first time my dog and I met Cassandra, I knew he’d be in good hands immediately and she proved that today. She house sat for me and took care of Riley and when she arrived, was very attentive to the care he required and that made me feel at ease entrusting him to her while I was away. She will definitely be my go to sitter moving forward and should be yours too!!

Christina was amazing, I came home to happy and tired dogs. I appreciated how much she communicated through the stay when things changed and that she sent me updates like I requested. I always get a little nervous leaving my dogs but they looked so happy on the walks it made me really enjoy my vacation knowing they were in good hands.

About: What can say, I have had animals all my life. I have a dog and a cat right now. I rescued them both. They really do love you unconditionally and make life so much sweeter. I treat my pets like my kids. I am caring person and love to help others. I know what it’s like to try and find someone that will love and take care of your pet the same way you do. I found it was harder to find someone that specializes in cats and that’s me. I will take care of your pets as if they were my own! I am currently working part time so I have plenty of time to take care of your precious pets! I especially love cats and kittens! I prefer to come to your home where the pets feel safer in thier own environment. I will love them and take care of them and follow whatever instructions you provide me!

Christopher looked after our kids for 9 days and my old Great Dane just fell in love !! The young ones kept him quite busy and he diligently took care of each with a warm heart and lots of love hugs and kisses to all the fur babies . Absolutely fantastic to know you can rely on such a competent and friendly dog sitter like him. Got home today and my kids was over the moon .. Definitely a 5👌🏼in our books ..

About: Experienced with both young and older dogs and cats. I am very patient and loving with all animals and ensure play time is taken care of whether that means a long walk or playing fetch. Indoor animals need playtime as well and I can make sure we get the zoomies out! I work from home 3 days a week and have a pretty standard work schedule. I am free on weekends. I can do long walks with your furry friend as well as house sit. I will ensure all their needs are met if I happen to be watching them on a day that I am not in the office. I have a very leisure schedule so there is lots of time for play time and walks. I ensure doors are never left open whether that be the front/back door or cabinet doors. Especially if there are cleaning supplies or any other chemicals in said cabinets. I also ensure I am educated on what plants are not animal friendly and ensure those are put away in high places where animals cannot get to them. I ensure all water bowls are filled before I leave and that feedings/treat handouts are done. If there are any tote bags or any bags with handles, I make sure those are put away as well. Of course I make sure anything plastic or small that might be ingested is put away as well.

Shea was super friendly and personable when they arrived our puppy Rue warmed up instantly. Shea took her out for 3 walls while we were gone and gave updates all night. Shea even sat in the hallway while Rue was sleeping in the bathroom in case Rue was feeling anxious. We will definitely be booking with Shea again!

About: I’m a dog lover with years of hands-on experience caring for pets for family and friends through house sitting, walks, drop-in visits, and feeding schedules. I previously owned a beautiful Belgian Shepherd named Izzy, who was my adventure buddy for many years. After recently losing her, I’ve found a lot of joy in spending time with and caring for other people’s furry companions. I currently work a hybrid schedule, which gives me flexibility during the day to stop by for potty breaks, walks, playtime, or just some extra company and attention while you’re away. Whether your pet needs a long walk, overnight care, or someone to check in and make sure they’re comfortable, I’m happy to help. As a former dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to know your pet is in good hands. My goal is to help give you peace of mind while also giving your pets the love, care, and attention they deserve. I’m excited to meet you and your furry family members while earning a little extra income doing something I genuinely enjoy. I'm available to stay overnight at your home Fridays - Tuesday evenings. I have a hybrid work schedule so I am available to drop in during the workday to provide any walks or potty breaks that are needed. I'm unavailable to pet sit, walk, or do drop-ins on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I can spend the night at your home to help ensure your furry companion doesn't experience separation anxiety. I've spent time walking dogs of all sizes, and I make sure to learn any triggers your animals may have before taking them on walks. I'll send photos of your animals while you're away to help you feel at peace and enjoy your vacation or work trip!

About: I've been caring for dogs and cats since I was 7 years old. While I have no formal training, I've owned pets consistently for the last 35 years. I've done a lot of work with rescues and shelters, particularly with special needs animals. I'm equipped to give medication of all types, even IVs and injections. I'm currently fostering two silly bulldogs and am volunteering my time with multiple local rescues. I have a knack for animals... You might even call it a superpower! I'll likely become best friends with your pet as soon as I meet them; I'll take the extra time to establish trust with you and your furry friend, so you both know you are in good hands with me. Whether it be just a quick walk or a homestay, your pet will be the center of my attention and will always be in good hands! Every booking comes with lots of pictures and a full recap of our time together. While I'm typically not available early in the morning, my schedule is otherwise pretty flexible. I'm available for drop ins and over nights. Unfortunately due to an FIV+ cat I am unable to host your pet here. I will schedule a meet and greet prior to our first booking to meet you and your pet at your home. I like to schedule this for up to one our in order to make sure we take the time we need to establish trust. Many of my pets over the years have been special needs, including English Bulldogs and FIV+ cats.

About: I’ve always grown up around dogs. My favorite breed are pitbull but I have two beagles at the moment. I’ll obey any instructions you have for your pet, I do my best not to feed into bad dog behaviors. I’ve taken care of my family members dogs and multiple dogs at once. I’m good at cleaning up after dogs too. I’m currently studying for my CPA exams, so pet care will easily fit into my weekly routine. I prefer to walk any animal before the sunsets, but being at someone’s home is fine any time. I’m good at cleaning up after animals and myself. I have two beagles so I prefer not to do anything at my house. But I’m more than willing to take care of any pets at their house.

So happy we chose Evynn to take care of our dog and cat while out of town. Evynn and Viktoria took wonderful care of our fur babies and our apartment. We received a ton of pictures while away, and the apartment was sparkling clean when we returned. Our dog can be a little temperamental on walks when she passes other dogs, but Evynn was very patient and willing to work with her. Evynn and Viktoria are so kind, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a pet sitter or walker!

We can highly recommend Sam. We booked months ahead and he came promptly to meet our dogs and to understand what was expected of him. The week before he was to sit, he visited with the dogs, again. One of our dogs has medical needs that require multiple meds and supplements. Sam gave her what she needed, on schedule. He took the dogs on good walks, avoiding the hottest part of the day. For a week, he stayed overnight with them. (Our home was left neat and clean by Sam.) Our dogs were clearly well-taken care of. He sent us photos and videos of their daily activities. We certainly will rebook Sam when we need a sitter we can trust to care for our dogs. Thank you, Sam!

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Tanesha and Gabi! They stayed in our home and took wonderful care of our three cats while we were away, including our new kitten, which made leaving especially hard since it was our first time being away from her. Tanesha and Gabi made everything so much easier by keeping us updated and sending us photos of the kitties while we were gone. It was such a relief to see that everyone was happy and doing well. Everything went smoothly from start to finish, and when we came home, the house was clean, everything was in order, and our kitties were happy and clearly well cared for. They were responsible, respectful of our home, and absolutely wonderful with our cats. We felt completely comfortable having them stay in our home, and we would 100% have them watch our kitties again. Highly recommend Tanesha and Gabi! 💕🐾

Jack was absolutely fantastic as a sitter for our Annie girl. This was the first time we had ever used Rover and Jack made this the best possible experience. He provided lots of updates, sent us lots of pictures and we could tell that he genuinely cared for and loved our girl while we were gone. Not once did we worry about how she was doing while she was in Jack's care. We came back to our apartment looking better than when we left it, could not tell we had a sitter there at all, more like we had a house cleaner come by. Would recommend Jack to anyone looking for a reliable, friendly, loving and responsible dog sitter. Will 100% book with Jack again when the time comes.

FAQs for House Sitting - Signal Hill

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Signal Hill on Rover is $48.84 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 14,680 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Signal Hill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Signal Hill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Signal Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Signal Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Signal Hill. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
