“My pup was so well cared for! My girl is a rescue healing from an injury, and she can get nervous with sitters. But they were best buds after just one night! I received updates so I wasn’t worried, and it was a huge relief to find someone who knew exactly how to accommodate my dog’s needs. Would absolutely book again!”

About: I grew up and have been around dogs my whole life. I’ve been cat sitting for friends for years. I love all animals but have the most experience with cats and dogs. I have open availability and here to help. I have open availability at the moment. So even if it’s last minute I can help. I am reliable and as long as I’m not booked up I’m willing to help. I will care for the pets in their client’s home. I think it’s best for the pet to stay in their environment and to have familiarity. Especially when first being introduced to someone new.

About: I’ve basically lived in a zoo since I was a child, ha! My family always had a variety of animals, including dogs and cats. I’m new to Rover, but have so much love for animals! I’m a doctoral graduate student, but on summer break! My availability is pretty open, and I’m always happy to spend time with fur babies! My dogs are completely spoiled! They’re family members and treated as such. Plenty of loving, belly rubs, and I’m a proud professional ear scritcher! They sleep inside (usually on top of me in some way). I walk them both daily, but it’s usually more like they walk me, ha! Also, my youngest has separation anxiety and my older dog is completely terrified of loud noises (fireworks, cars backfiring, etc.), so I’m also very patient with dogs that need a little bit of extra love and care.

“Jack was a complete professional during his recent dog sitting of our two dogs. He stayed at our home and was extremely attentive and respectful. Jack followed all care instructions and went over and beyond by taking our dogs to the park and playing with them frequently. He provided us daily updates and photos during our vacation that kept us at ease, especially while traveling out of state. I cannot recommend him enough, a gentleman in every way.”

“From the first time my dog and I met Cassandra, I knew he’d be in good hands immediately and she proved that today. She house sat for me and took care of Riley and when she arrived, was very attentive to the care he required and that made me feel at ease entrusting him to her while I was away. She will definitely be my go to sitter moving forward and should be yours too!!”

“Karen stayed for a week with my two high energy Havanese. She was terrific from start to finish. She was responsive and proactively sent photos of them to me throughout my trip. My dogs are basically my children so I’m pretty particular and Karen checked all the boxes. We will definitely use her again!”
About: I’ve taken care of dogs throughout my life and genuinely enjoy their company. I currently volunteer at my local animal shelter a few days a week. I have completed the shelters Fear Free training that teaches how to recognize and alleviate Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS) in pets. The training touches on how to read animal body language, low stress handling techniques, environmental and protocol modifications. I have experience with puppies, adults, and senior dogs. I currently work part-time. My schedule consist of working M,W,F at 11:00 AM-3:00 PM and T,Th at 11:00 AM-4:00 PM. I am not scheduled at my day job on the weekends. So on Saturday and Sunday I am available for constant care. I can house sit, do drop in’s, and walks 7 days a week. But on weekdays I will be out 4-5 hours a day due to my work schedule. I will always respect clients boundaries. I understand the importance of leaving the place in good condition and cleaning up after myself. Most importantly sending updates to the owners on how their pets are doing. I also understand the importance of the big responsibility it is to care for my clients pets. I will always treat them as my own, with compassion, care, love and respect.
“It was my first time using Rover since I don't have family or friends to help with pet sitting. Claudia was amazing. She got to meet my dog before the stay and my anxious and sometime mistrustful dog loved her. During the stay she did an amazing job and sent cute pictures and responded promptly! She's the best!”

About: I’m a dog lover with years of hands-on experience caring for pets for family and friends through house sitting, walks, drop-in visits, and feeding schedules. I previously owned a beautiful Belgian Shepherd named Izzy, who was my adventure buddy for many years. After recently losing her, I’ve found a lot of joy in spending time with and caring for other people’s furry companions. I currently work a hybrid schedule, which gives me flexibility during the day to stop by for potty breaks, walks, playtime, or just some extra company and attention while you’re away. Whether your pet needs a long walk, overnight care, or someone to check in and make sure they’re comfortable, I’m happy to help. As a former dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to know your pet is in good hands. My goal is to help give you peace of mind while also giving your pets the love, care, and attention they deserve. I’m excited to meet you and your furry family members while earning a little extra income doing something I genuinely enjoy. I'm available to stay overnight at your home Fridays - Tuesday evenings. I have a hybrid work schedule so I am available to drop in during the workday to provide any walks or potty breaks that are needed. I'm unavailable to pet sit, walk, or do drop-ins on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I can spend the night at your home to help ensure your furry companion doesn't experience separation anxiety. I've spent time walking dogs of all sizes, and I make sure to learn any triggers your animals may have before taking them on walks. I'll send photos of your animals while you're away to help you feel at peace and enjoy your vacation or work trip!

“We’ve used Shauna multiple times and she’s nothing short of amazing. She’s attentive, personable and loving to our fur family members. We trust her. The only downside to giving her the 5 star rating (which she deserves), is others booking her when we would like to use her! She’s fantastic.”

“Amanda looked after my two dogs and house for 12 days and did an incredible job. She sent photos every day and when I returned the house was spotless. Will definitely use her in the future and highly recommend.”

About: I’ve been doing pet sitting for over 3 years & have experience in all types of animals & am familiar with giving medication if needed. My main goal is to always ensure that your pet is cared for 100% and that you come back to a clean environment. Will also bring in/take out trash, water plants & bring in mail. I currently work part time so this leaves me with time to spend caring for animals. I am currently available for morning visits from 8am -10am Afternoons 12-3pm Pm 4-7pm Can also do overnight visits on weekends if needed. When I am caring for an animal at a clinics home I always make sure to ask for any information or their routine with their pup. Not only to ensure that I am doing everything right & that needs to be done for your pup but to keep your pup in their routine. This will allow me to get familiar with the feeding, walking, etc. Safety of your pup and your home is my top priority & I ensure this by always making sure to close all doors/windows in your home & set alarm if needed
“Lissi was amazing with our anxious German Shepherd, Nala! She was patient, gentle, and quickly earned Nala’s trust. Lissi kept her mentally engaged and physically active with running, play, and training, and also took great care of our home while house-sitting. We loved the photo updates and came home to a happy, relaxed pup. Highly recommend!”

“Maria is a fantastic sitter! We love having her come over to watch our girl, she’s attentive and caring. Our dog has separation anxiety and behavioral issues due to her previous home (she’s a rehomed dog) and Maria is patient and kind and always willing to help out. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve raised and taken care of dogs since I was a little girl. My family and I have always had rescue dogs and continue to rescue. I rescued my most recent pup since she was less than a year old. I truly have a love for dogs and treat each one I come across as my own. I’m very comfortable with small to mid size dogs. Open to large dogs as well. Hope to meet you and your fur baby soon :) I have a flexible schedule. During the weekday I’m available usually afternoon and evenings and on the weekends I’m available anytime. Mornings, and afternoons preferred. Thank you. Currently unable to care for pets in my house but if at client’s residence it depends on the space. Comfortable with leash or leash less environment for the dogs. Depends on client’s preference.
“Raevyn was amazing with our senior dog while we went on 10 day vacation. She was timely and respectful, and always provided updates. Apple is not very friendly with strangers right away but with her she was immediately calm. Apple had a good time and we had a worry free vacation. We will definitely use her as our sitter in the future.”

“Olivia is the best dog sitter in town! Truly a gem! We were so blessed to have Olivia care for our Teddy while away on a 6 day vacation to Hawaii. She was always available and provided all of Teddy’s needs. I can’t express my gratitude with just words. She went above and beyond caring for our Teddy while away. Teddy has found a new best friend in Olivia. My trip was care free because I left my pup in good hands. Theres nothing better than to have peace of mind that my Teddy was being fed, walked and played with daily. I recommend Olivia for your furry friend. You will not be disappointed. Thanks again Olivia! 🐶”

“Laura was a pleasure to have as a sitter! I needed a sitter quick to watch my doggy as I had to leave out of state for family matters and she answered! She was friendly, approachable, a pleasant to work with. Her communication is excellent! I’ll definitely be booking with Laura in the future!”

Alivia took wonderful care of our 2 dogs--giving them their daily medicine, taking them on just the right amount of walks (one of ours is a young active dog and the other is a senior dog with arthritis). She also sent us lots of updates and photos. Will definitely book again!

Absolutely wonderful experience! Andrea was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and clearly very experienced with dogs. I felt really comfortable leaving my pup in her care, and it was obvious my dog was well looked after and happy. Communication was great throughout, and I really appreciated how attentive and caring she was. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable sitter!

Wow! This surpassed every expectation I had; Glasgow was so happy and at peace for the 9+ day overnight trip while we were overseas. We've never had a formal house / pet sitter before, and we are so happy we found Denger — we're already re-booking them for future trips. :) Thank you for giving us the confidence and care...we're so thankful!

Riley was great! She left our home tidy and clean. She sent us lots of pics to update us which we really appreciated. Very easy to communicate with and she is quick to respond. Our girl Kita loved her. Would absolutely recommend her and use her services again in the future :)

Michelle was fantastic with our little girl. Usually Bella barks at strangers, but immediately took to Michelle. She took excellent care of Bella and even helped to potty train her to pee outside. Michelle is the perfect dog sitter. She stayed at our house and left it immaculate. Hopefully she’s available for the next 15 years or so to watch Bella every time we go out of town.

Jasmine was amazing with Penny. She always gave me updates with pictures which made me feel at ease while away. She was very attentive to Pennys needs and kept her routine very comfortable and consistent. I also enjoyed that Jasmine played and walked Penny daily. She’s awesome! 😊

Amazing! Joanna was very communicative, asked all the “right” questions about our puppy and puppy’s needs. Great on reporting details which is important as we, doggy parents, are trying to navigate routines etc with our puppy. Very personal and helpful. We will definitely be seeking her again for future puppy-sitting 🐶.

Diane is awesome!! She communicates very well and responded to all messages and text mails quickly. She was very punctual and She sent pictures and updates about Frito every day. I returned home to a clean home and a very happy Frito. I would definitely hire Diane to dog sit again in the future.

Lorretta was great! We needed a sitter last-minute do to our previous sitter being unavailable. Lorretta lived nearby, so she was able to visit on a consistent schedule and give our dog and cat a sense of normalcy while we were gone. Good communicator and good picture/video taker!

****** Us: helicopter dog parents with one little dog and one big dog anxious to leave our babies with someone we didn't know. (Enter Sophia) She came over to our place to get to know our girls and chatted with us and answered all our questions and alleviated our concerns. She came over early the day we left for a 7 day trip and walked the girls with us. She stayed at our house and took excellent care of our babies. Always sending us pictures and updates as we requested. We have already booked her again. I would recommend Sophia to my friends and family. She is an exceptional dog whisperer!

Tayanna was amazing! She made my kitty feel so comfortable and loved on while I was out of town and gave me updates throughout the entire time. I’m very protective and particular with who watches my girl, and I know I absolutely made the right choice with Tayanna.

FAQs for House Sitting - Lakewood
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Lakewood on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 15,016 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lakewood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lakewood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lakewood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lakewood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lakewood. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
