“Lupita is incredible. Our dog is very sweet but can be difficult when away from us due to separation anxiety. Lupita is patient and definitely a dog whisperer. The pics she sent us while we were out showed that he was able to relax with her. She earned his trust enough that he was willing to eat his food while we were out, which is not a usual occurrence. Lupita is also extremely responsive via the app, which is very much appreciated. Will definitely be using her again!”

“Don't hesitate to book Mamu to care for your pet! I can’t recommend Mamu enough! They took care of my dog for three days and followed all my care instructions. From the start, they were calm, communicative, and incredibly patient. The level of attentiveness gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. My dog and my home were well taken care of. I truly appreciated the regular updates and adorable pictures, they made me feel connected and reassured. When I got home, I could immediately tell my dog had bonded with them. I had no hesitation putting in another request for a future sit the moment I returned. Thank you again for your amazing care and presence!”

“Rachel has such a calming energy which was perfect for our pups who get a little anxious while we are away. Was great to have piece of mind knowing she was there while I was away for the full day. Appreciated the updates and picts as well. Thank you!!”

About: Hi, I’m Morgan! I’m a lifelong dog lover and proud dog mom to my sweet 3-year-old Maltipoo 🐶 I’ve been dog-sitting for years and genuinely love getting to spend time with all different kinds of pups. I work remotely, so my schedule is super flexible and can easily be tailored to your dog’s needs. I’m also currently getting my master’s degree, and I use Rover to help support my tuition, which makes this something I truly care about and put a lot of effort into. Whether your pup loves long walks, playtime, or just wants someone to hang out and cuddle with, I’ll be there to give them lots of attention and love throughout the day. I treat every dog like they’re my own and always try to make them feel as safe, comfortable, and happy as possible while you’re away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I don’t take that lightly 💛 Right now, I’m not offering overnight stays in my home since I live with two other dogs, but I’m more than happy to help with: • Walks • Drop-in visits • Staying in your home I’ll follow your routine closely and keep things as normal and stress-free as possible for your pup. Just a heads up, I am allergic to cats, so I’m only able to care for dogs. Feel free to reach out with any questions at all. I’d love to meet you and your pup and make sure they feel right at home 🐾 I cater my schedule to your dog’s specific needs! I work from home and spend most of my time with my own sweet pup, so I can guarantee your dog will get plenty of attention, love, and playtime during their stay. I always make sure pets feel safe and comfortable in my care. I’m not offering overnight stays right now since I live with two other dogs, but I’m happy to do walks, drop-in visits, or stay in your house while boarding. I’ll follow any routines or instructions you leave and make sure your pet gets plenty of attention and care while you’re away. Since I work from home, I’m super flexible and can be there when your pet needs me most.
“Lara was great. This was our first time leaving a new kitten with someone, and Lara was very easy and relaxed with him...she let him come to her (which he did right away?). Great communication and nice photos/videos to let us see how he was doing.”

“Jennifer is so awesome, considerate and caring. I was a bit nervous using this service, but once I met Jennifer, I immediately liked her and felt more at ease. She took great care of our pup and our home. Highly recommend!”

“Kristina did a great job housesitting our elderly dog and three cats. She took care of our dog’s special needs and administered medication, sent timely updates and communicated clearly. Kristina even navigated a couple of unexpected issues with our house (a smart lock malfunction and a sprinkler system leak). We’d definitely have her back — hopefully she’ll have an easier stay next time..!”

About: Dogs Are My World – I have extensive hands-on experience with dogs: Worked at an animal shelter, caring for many different dogs with a variety of needs Served as a personal babysitter for a puppy and adult dogs Provided ongoing care for a senior woman and her dog Successfully trained my own dog, who is now wonderfully well-behaved Every walk I work on leash training and have watched my techniques turn into success in stopping leash pulling and better leash manners. I’m extremely responsible, reliable, and patient. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, training reinforcement, or just giving your pup lots of love and attention while you’re away, I treat every dog like my own. I am versitile in dog psychology and really understand how do give them what they need. Your dog’s happiness and safety are my top priority! I am currently fully available days and nights. I live in aptos in a studio with my boyfriend and I am missing the doggie love in my life right now! I would NEVER leave your dog alone. If they're under my supervision we are now bestfriends on a playdate all day. I can accomadate any kind of activities you would prefer your dog to do. Wether thats beach time, socializing with other dogs, NOT socializing with other dogs, hiking in the woods (If they're tick and flea vaccinated), or a day of training and playing in the park. I would love to accomadate what is best for your dog's needs.
“Heather was amazing. She was able to care for our difficult older cat like a pro. Our cat required two medications twice a day, including an injection, and our cat doesn't do well with stranger but she did great with Heather. Heather let us know everytime when she completed the shot which really put our minds at ease. We ended up book her again for two more trips these coming months.”

“We had a great experience with Marcese. Bella took to him right away, which made us feel completely at ease. He did an excellent job house-sitting and went above and beyond by giving her an extra walk. Communication was great, and we came home to a clean house and a happy, relaxed pup. We would gladly book Marcese again and highly recommend him!”

“As first-time Rover users on Georgia’s very first road trip, we were incredibly nervous about leaving her, but Lily completely blew us away. From the moment we met her, we could just feel that she is someone you can truly trust. Lily knew exactly how to get Georgia to warm up to her, and they quickly became the absolute best of friends. On top of that, she was incredibly flexible with her time—when our schedule changed and we needed her to stay later than originally planned, she stepped up without hesitation. If you are looking for a reliable, loving, and trustworthy nanny for your fur baby, book Lily immediately. We cannot recommend her enough!”

About: I’m a 21 year old college graduate looking to fulfill her hopes of pet setting once again! Being a full time student meant busy weeks, leaving no time for pet care. Something I actively did before transferring to UCSC. But with this newfound, post-graduate freedom, I’m eager to get back into the gig. Besides caring for my own kitties, I’ve worked with 7 clients over the past four years. All of which have been dog sitting gigs, with one job including an additional 3 cats (if that makes sense haha). And in my time as a sitter I’ve had four consistent clients. Additionally, I’m more than willing to sit for most dogs/ cats regardless of age, size, energy level, etc. It is my job (and such a privilege) to ensure their needs are met! Worth a mention - I’ve not had any experience in pet training, but I’m committed to being the best companion to the little loves! I can’t wait to connect with you and your fur-babies! I’m hoping to fill my week days (which are fairly open as of late) with pet care! Connecting with animals is truly such a rewarding job. Knowing I can make your life easier, and also that your pets are happy fills my heart with oodles of joy. My housing agreement unfortunately states that I can’t allow pets on to the premises. However, I’m extremely comfortable staying in/ visiting other spaces. Being respectful of your space is one of my top priorities.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Scotts Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Scotts Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Scotts Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
