About: I’m a lifelong animal lover with experience caring for dogs, cats, horses and more through pet sitting, dog walking, and volunteering as an Animal Therapy Assistant. I’ve worked with a variety of pets, maintained regular communication with owners, and always make sure animals are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I’m dependable, organized, and patient, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. My experience as a nanny, camp coach, and small business owner has strengthened my responsibility, communication, and ability to handle different situations with confidence. I’ll care for your pet with the same attention and love I would give my own. I’m a college student home for the summer, which gives me a flexible schedule for pet care. I occasionally babysit and pet sit, but I have plenty of availability for drop-in visits, dog walking, and overnight care. I also care for my own dog, Lola, every day, so I’m used to maintaining a consistent routine and making sure pets get the attention, exercise, and affection they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I understand that every pet has their own routine, personality, and needs, so I’ll follow your instructions carefully to help them feel secure while you’re away. Whether I’m caring for your pet in your home or stopping by for visits, I’ll provide plenty of attention, playtime, fresh water, meals, and updates so you can have peace of mind. I treat every pet with the same love and care that I give my own dog, Lola.
“Marlee is the best! She was patient with my shy cat Vern and he warmed right up to her. I feel at ease when she is taking care of him. Vern received the best care and attention he needed! Marlee is very friendly, trustworthy and dependable. I will be using her in the future.”

“This is the second time we are using Sara’s service, so this review is for our previous experience as well as this experience with Sara as our cat sitter: Sara is not just a cat sitter, she’s a care taker in general. She would keep the place clean, spend time with our cat Titan, send us prompt updates with pics and vids of Titan. She communicates very well and is a very kind person. We left a list of things to do for Titan’s care - she went above and beyond. We trust her so much and she is the ideal person you’d leave your precious animals with. You can always count on Sara!”

“Sam took great care of my 2 senior dogs. She came exactly as we arranged and was very communicative. Would ask Sam to take care of my dogs again without hesitation. Thanks Sam!”

“Diane and Dave are trustworthy, thoughtful caregivers of our dog, Terry, who checked in w updates and questions and took his medical needs and the summer heat seriously. They gave him lots of loving attention, and we returned home to a happy dog! We’re so pleased to have met them and plan to rely on them for our next trip!”

“Xiomara took good care of my cats! Very responsive and great communication always. Love all the pictures included in the visit card every time. Seems my cats also have great time with her. Would definitely have her again in the future.”

About: I have either owned or taken care of dogs since I was very young. I began dog sitting around 10 years ago. I can come to your home or do in home visits. I have taken care of dogs of all sizes from Cane Corsos to Bassett Hounds and many more. I currently work remotely and am home during the day. That gives me a lot of extra time especially to care for my animals as well as others. I have a separate room for cats to stay in that has a screen door. They can see out but not get out as well as my cats can see in but not get in. I also have a "privacy gate" so they cannot see eachother.
“Jessica was great to work with. Before we booked her, she came by to meet our pups, which immediately put our minds at ease. She communicated well throughout her visits and sent pictures, which we really appreciated. Knowing our dogs were happy and well cared for made being away so much easier. We would definitely recommend her and look forward to working with her again.”

About: I love animals and have experience working with and sitting for a wide range of them, including dogs, cats, and small or exotic animals. I myself have owned over twenty parrots (currently have two in the aviary!) and have extensive experience with fishkeeping — I have four cycled, walstad fish and shrimp tanks! I can walk your dog, clean your cat’s litter box, and even do water changes for your fish if needed! Anything to make sure your little guys are well cared for! I’m a graduate student who will be free over the summer, so my schedule is flexible until late August. I can make myself and my home available as needed. I live in a townhome that features a large, lush, and open neighborhood to walk your dogs in. My home has two floors; the first floor is where your pet will stay. When your pet is in my home, they are treated like members of my family. They will be fed, walked, and enriched on your schedule, and will be allowed to sit on the couch and even sleep in my bed at nights if comfortable. I take great care to ensure that your pet’s stay is comfortable and fun-filled. In my home, I currently have two budgies in a large cage and two betta fish, each in 5-10 gallon tanks. The parrots are allowed to free fly for most of the day, but they will be put away or kept caged when your pets are being boarded. When I am in your home, I cultivate the utmost respect. I try not to disturb or move anything that’s not necessary. I’ll make use of only what’s given to me with regards to caring for your pet, and leave everything else exactly how I found it.
About: I have had pets since before I was old enough to remember. They have brought me so much love and I want to give that right back to them. I have worked with animals from Chinchillas and Hamsters to cats and dogs, and I couldn't ask for a better job. I am currently home for the summer so my availability is very flexible and open! I will be more than happy to accommodate whatever times your animals need to stay happiest and healthiest. At home I take care of 2 cats and a large dog, as well as a water frog! I am very experienced in all aspects of cat and dog care and would love to extend my care to your animals.
About: Boarding Services- dogs 0 to 20 pounds. I grew up in a household that always had multiple dogs and was actively involved in their care, including feeding, bathing, walking, and providing plenty of love and attention. I have been caring for dogs for over 25 years and has always been a natural part of my life. I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your loved family member. I work part-time remotely, which means your pet will get tons of cuddles, playtime, and supervision throughout the day! I may occasionally step out for short errands, but I am never away for more than a couple of hours at a time. Your pet will always receive attentive, loving care in a safe environment. • ☀️ Morning Routine (7:00 AM - 9:00 AM): We kickstart the day with a refreshing morning walk to stretch those legs and take care of business. This is followed by breakfast, fresh water, and any morning medications your pup requires. • 🎾 Midday & Afternoon (12:00 AM - 2:00 PM): Afternoon potty break and mental stimulation-just as important as physical exercise! We spend this time also playing fetch in a secure area and playing with puzzle toys/snuffle mat. Afterward, they get plenty of time to lounge, nap, and relax. • 🌇 Early Evening (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM): It's time for another potty break and dinner. If your dog has high energy, this is a great time for a longer evening walk or a trip to a local, nearby park if permitted. • 🌙 Wind Down (8:00 PM - 9:00 PM): We wrap up the day with a final short walk before bedtime. Then, it's quality cuddle and belly rub time on the couch before lights out! I provide a safe, comfortable, and loving home environment where your dog will receive personalized attention and care. My goal is to have your pet feel happy and secure, whether they are in their home or mine. I have been a pet owner my entire life and have been relied upon by friends, family, and neighbors for pet care for the past 25 years. My practical, hands-on experience has taught me patience, reliability, and how to anticipate a pet's needs and comfort levels. I’m comfortable with various breeds and temperaments and committed to upholding the highest standard of care.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Scotch Plains
Sheila took wonderful care of our cats for a little over two weeks, and we couldn’t be more grateful. She is incredibly meticulous, genuinely loves animals, and went above and beyond what was required to make sure our cats were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. She also kept an eye on our home and alerted us to a water leak in time, which we truly appreciated. We felt completely at ease knowing both our cats and our home were in such capable and caring hands. Highly recommended.

Maria was a wonderful sitter for our cat Mary! We had total piece of mind on our trip. It was clear from the updates and pictures that Mary found a new friend and was totally content and comfortable with Maria! She's incredibly kind and responsive and we will definitely use her again in the future!
Chelsea took amazing care of my cat. She made sure to follow the special instructions I left and took lots of cute photos of my girl. I also really appreciated the updates she gave me every day. Chelsea made me feel good about leaving my cat at home while I went on a trip. Thanks Chelsea!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Scotch Plains. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
