Pet care is not only therapeutic, it fits into my schedule perfectly, since I am a semi-retired administrative professional who suffered an untimely stroke at a young age. However. after an almost miraculous recovery, I'd like to move forward in a direction that nurtures my empathetic personality. Therein, leaving the desk behind, affording me with a more active lifestyle, all year round. As to that, my days generally consist of assisting my daughter with her dog, exercise, personal errands and volunteering a few hours a week. Although, I take pet care jobs occasionally, I'd like to "officially"extend my services to do something I love (I believe I'm good at it.) and rewarding because the pets (my clients) always seem to appreciate it.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced in yard and super friendly and silly, one year old fur gran-baby that would be happy to show a visiting canine "the ropes", lol. I can also crate and/or crate train your dog(s), when necessary. They will always have access to clean water; be walked consistently and fed on time and kept in a clean an organized space, whether at your home or mine. I make sure to follow pet parents care instructions. I send photos or video of fun moments to give insight as to how your pets are doing and cared for. I play, pet and communicate with each pet in their way to build trust, friendship and joy while their pet parents are away. In addition, I have had some dog training in the recent past and will have more dog training in the near future to help me care for our hairy pals compassionately and efficiently. [NOTE to Drop-in Clients: Please understand, Safety is a concern for Everyone; pet care givers, pet parents and pets. I work on a basis of professional Trust between all parties, including the pet party. All I can offer are my Referrals, my Word as a trusted professional and a background check conducted by Rover. I expect the same appropriate professionalism, trustworthiness and mutual respect from those who accept my Services. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.] I look forward to working with you. ;-)

Information Erika B. would like to know about your pet

Please, let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors I can account for. I like to know their daily habits about their personality and what makes them happy;I don't have any special breed preferences; I generally try to adjust to the needs of the breed. -Meet & Greet: Are there any things that can hurt or irritate your pet, in any way; are there any health issues, special diets? What are your pet's eating, chewing and bathroom habits; what playtime games and toys do they like? How long and often do they like to walk/run?

A typical day

A day and a life with Mary Poppins pet care: begins about 3o minutes after a breakfast feeding with a brisk walk through the neighborhood, connecting with the sights and sounds of the morning; the smell of the other dogs that live there, the other animal life that began the day, the dewy grass and last but not least, the garbage men, :). *Then, we come in for a water break and a relaxation exploration of the backyard where there is plenty of grass, shrubs, rodents and rabbits, birds and an occasional neighborly cat satisfies their foraging instincts. In the evening about 30 mins after dinner, we take a long slow stroll exploring more of the parks and brooks nearby, after all that fresh sniff, lol; we relax for the night and do it all again the next day in a new way!.. everyday is a new adventure. (Note: on rainy and/or very cold days, they have indoor brain games for dogs and dog toys for play.) *The activity and space provided in a day may vary per the daily habits and over all energy level and size requirements. Will ask pet parents if short car rides are allowed.

Meet the Mary Poppins of Pet Care !

Pet care experience

I've been caring for small pets such as, Hamsters, Guinea-pigs and Fish (from goldfish, etc. to Oscars, etc.) from a very young age. Therein, for example, when I was still a little girl, my friend and neighbor could no longer care for their beloved, hamster, Andy; who did they think of... me ! So, Andy, the hamster was adopted and added to the fold. Next, Cats and Dogs. When my neighbor found a stray cat had given birth in their shed closet, again, who did they call?! I adopted one of the 3 kittens; adopting their sibling from the same liter soon after the first adoptee, was unable to care for it. I began caring for Angel and Geisha, my first two cats. Last but not least, Dogs... Cream was a white Pittie, whose owner, again, became unable to care for her so she lived with me and my 2 year old daughter at the time, and they loved each other dearly. After, finding Cream a permanent home, I had the honor of caring for other dogs for friends and neighbors even the homeless, from which I cared for Lulu, a pittie, living with her owner on the street. However, she received a healthy diet, vet care and patience, training to reverse some of the habits she developed living on the street. Now, although, I've cared for others such as Bamboo, the Pitbull, that seemed to take care of himself, lol and Karma, who needed a foster during the Covid pandemic; I'm entrusted with the care of my Pittie/German-Sheppard Gran-pet baby, Nasir aka Nas, while my daughter's in college. Nice enough, I still get to switch it up and care for the Cats (and small pets) of various friends and neighbors in my community. With that, I try o create a Pet-care Staycation like atmosphere when boarding or Home care while pet-parents are away and a Family like atmosphere for Fosters. I look forward to meeting your furry friends and four legged family members :)

Erika was very responsive and flexible. She took good care of Peppercorn and kept us updated by the app with detailed updates and tracking of his drinking/eating/toileting schedule. She was very flexible with allowing us to change hours / dates when our schedule changed. Would recommend Erika!

Erika was exceptional and really made my dog feel comfortable and cared for! She was very responsive and accommodating and even kindly bought additional food when my dog ran out. She is fantastic since she made her availability even include Christmas holiday. She was always kind, patient, and understanding. I highly recommend her service to anyone in search of a top rated pet sitter!
