“We cannot say enough about Josh. He is AMAZING 🤩 He loves our dogs like his own and is very reliable and respectful. Definitely will be booking him again for our pets needs.”

“So many good things to say! We have two dogs and have had Ashley dog sit and do daily visits. She has done great at both and we will continue to use her. She kept us up to date while we were away and took good care of our guys.”

“We were very blessed to have selected Brandi. She take amazing care of Duke & Dutchess while we were gone. Plus sent update pictures of each dog during that time. They were very comfortable with her and listened to her very well. Thank you again for your care for our fur babies. Yes we would have her back in 2023 if she is not booked already. Lewis”

“Danielle did an amazing job watching my fur babies on my wedding day. She sent regular updates and my dog was happy as a clam the whole time. Most he was just a ham and gave cuddles on the couch. Would defiantly have her dog sit again”

About: I have over 25 years of experience caring for, loving and training various dogs and cats of all ages and sizes. My wife and I have 3 rescue dogs and 5 rescue cats, plus we regularly foster puppies and kittens. I know how important it is to ensure your babies are in good hands and safe while you’re away! I’ve worked with dogs and cats of many different ages, breeds, and temperaments over the years and have experience with potty, obedience and leash training, as well as caring for senior animals or administering medication etc. I love every pet as if they were my own!! I work fully remote so am entirely flexible throughout my day, including nights and weekends. I am able to accommodate the needs of the pet whether it involves a quick stop or an extended stay. I will always make sure your pet is secured in a fenced yard or on a leash. I don’t even like to leave pets unattended in the yard without keeping an eye on them. In the house it is important that boundaries are adhered to if there are certain areas off limits, and crate trained dogs are secured in their crate when left at home.
“I can’t say enough good things about Bridget! We had never left our 5 year old Irish Setter at all for more than a couple hours, we were very apprehensive about leaving him for a week. Bridget was very attentive, she stayed in our house with our baby and even let him sleep with her. She took such good care, following all hints and instructions. She texted us twice a day with update and pictures. She really went the extra mile above and beyond our expectations. Feel like we can take another vacation or trip and he would be well cared for with Bridget.”

About: Non smoking house. I typically only host one dog family at a time but please tell me if your dog doesn’t get along with other dogs in case I have an emergency booking. I have had puppies, seniors and everything in between. I love all the dogs, big, medium and little! They will be spoiled immensely with me! My husband and 21 year old son are also in the home so I cannot accommodate dogs who are male reactive. I only take spayed or neutered pets. I work from home a lot with a flexible schedule. I always keep an eye on your pet and love to send updates/photos during their stay or a walk. Communication is very important! Let’s schedule a meet and greet soon! Mostly work from home so they are not left alone for long. Only adults at home who know how to interact with and acclimate all visitors! Fenced, safe yard. Will exercise your pet or let them relax as requested. We allow pets on furniture- bring their favorite toys, treats and bones! Updates sent frequently! I also volunteer walking dogs at a nearby shelter so I can handle any size dog while on walks. I’ll give them as much or little exercise as they are accustomed to. Doing a meet and greet helps everyone make sure it’s a good fit!
About: First time bookers, please use my discount code here! :) https://www.rover.com/sit/julesc59802 My family had three small beautiful dogs for the past 15+ years. They are all now little Angels in doggy heaven. I LOVE animals. Originally, I am from Oregon and used to being outside a lot. I don't have any pets here and would love to help you take care of yours. I love going on walks and would be fantastic to have your fur baby join me. I am the person the over protective dog mom who is two steps ahead and believes pups should loved, safe, and have THE best possible lives. I just don't have my own dog to give happiness to now so I'm happy to spread joy by taking yours on a walk or coming to check in on them for you. Flexible with my time and hours right now. I typically work in sports marketing for agencies working with global brands. My schedule is currently flexible. I like to get to know the owners and pets preferences and lifestyles first and then cater my care towards that. I believe in consistency, going above and beyond, and building trust. I consider this an important role because pets are not just pets, they are family. I'm also just a very organized, prepared, and attentive person. Safety first, but always have fun!
“Breanna has been so great and reliable watching our dog Judy a few times now. Very communicative and sends lots of pics. We feel super confident leaving our anxious pup in her care!”

“Bonnie is the best! It’s obvious how much she cares about animals and is so professional. She has such a kind heart. She was very prompt, kept us updated on how Marley was doing throughout the day, and sent adorable pictures. She even brought a special treat and a little fall bandanna for her on the last day. I have full trust in Bonnie, and would not hesitate to have her care for Marley, or my dog Tucker . Thank you for everything Bonnie. You’ll be seeing Miss Marley again.🩷”

“Hannah stayed with our cat and dog, who we've only had for a few months, while we were out of town for the holiday. We were so glad to have someone so responsive and flexible care for our pets! We hope she can come stay again whenever we leave next.”

“Carly really helped us out with a last minute, week long stay at our house to watch our dog. She was professional and very good at communicating! We loved getting photos and updates from her to reassure us that Kona was doing well. Carly is wonderful and we will be using her in the future!”
“Excellent care and communication while we traveled internationally. The daily photos were a huge amount of comfort while away. The pets seemed very happy. Would definitely book again!”

“Rachel did a great job taking care of our dog, Sully! I get anxious about leaving him and this was the most relaxed I've been on a trip in a long time. She was timely and responsible, and really took in all of the Sully-information I gave her. (He has allergies and meds, so it was more info than your average dog.) She provided frequent updates and was able to get two rounds of exercise in, despite it being mid-July. Sully seemed really relaxed (and tuckered out!) when we returned and the house was in great shape. I would definitely hire Rachel again!”

About: I have fenced in backyard with room to run around. I'm a very loving person towards animals, they have a certain way of always making you feel special. I grew up with a golden retriever and she was the sweetest. I've had fish as well and care about them like I would a dog or cat. I now have my own puppers. She is a 3 year old German Shorthaired Pointer who loves meeting new dogs! I have been dog sitting for many years for family and friends. I used to stay at the owner's houses but now since I have my own dog I ask that the dogs come to my house. I am home most of the day. I love playing outside, going for walks and cuddling up with the pups. I love to meet new dogs and love learning about their breed and their personalities, they're all so different! Leaving your pets with me will guarantee them a fun safe time! I currently work full-time at home so I'm able to be with the dogs if they come to my home. If dog walking is what you need, I have an hour long lunch each day and can come after 4pm as well. I have a large fenced-in yard and a young dog to keep your pup occupied. I have extra kennels at my house if needed, as well as a gate in my hallway if for any reason I would need it. I have many dog toys and treats to keep your dog happy as well. Daily walks are a must, weather permitted.
“Khelsi is truly the best. I was extremely nervous leaving my little man with someone new. My previous sitter, who was not Rover-related, was not the best fit. Khelsi came to the rescue. She's extremely professional, attentive, and caring. I travel for work and am over the moon to have found her. 10/5 stars.”

“Lizz was wonderful! We left both our dog and cat in her care, and we didn’t worry a bit if they were in good hands. Our dog Oliver had epilepsy and required twice daily medication. Lizz made sure he didn’t miss a dose! She sent us pictures throughout the week, knowing how much we missed them. We will absolutely be booking Lizz again, thank you Lizz!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Saint Clair Shores
Hannah was great!! Our first time using Rover, and everything went perfectly - she was friendly, responsible, and handled everything -- our home, a senior diabetic dog, and a 4 month old puppy wonderfully. She sent periodic photos to ease our minds while we were away - Zero complaints and zero concerns. She's a pro and worth every penny. Thanks!!!

Sarah is wonderful. Our dogs love her. She is relaxed and goes out of her way to make our dogs happy in our absence. She was there everyday when she said she’d be and stayed with our dogs so they weren’t on their own longer than necessary. We definitely would love to use her again if she’s available. She’s the best! We came home to a clean house. Our dogs shed a lot! It was nice to walk into vacuumed floors. Sarah was excellent with communicating with us and sending pictures.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Saint Clair Shores on Rover is $54.39 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Saint Clair Shores walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Saint Clair Shores maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saint Clair Shores choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
