“Jean took great care of our pup and was so easy and kind to work with! Our anxious and hyper dog calmed down with her instantly. Great communication and updates as well!”
“I was in a last minute pinch for a weekend trip and Josh came through. Josh took great care of my two pets and made sure they were well taken care of and loved. I would recommend him to anyone who is in need of a sitter.”

“Cheryl is wonderful and very kind. Our dog Bella takes time to warm up to people and she didn’t have a problem warming up to Cheryl and snuggling on the couch with her. I already have her booked to house sit for us before the end of the year. Thank you for your care of our pack, Cheryl!”

“I sincerely cannot recommend Meghan highly enough! Don't hesitate to book with her if she is available. Meghan stayed with my puppy Farley for 3 nights while I was out of town with family and truly made it the easiest and most reassuring experience I could ask for as a first-time pet parent. She handled Farley's routine effortlessly, providing regular updates and the sweetest pictures to let me know he was being well taken care of at all times. Her communication and professionalism from the moment I booked to the moment she left at the end of her stay was more than I could've ever expected. 12/10 experience, will absolutely book again if both of our schedules permit :)”

“Lauri was amazing. She was wonderful with my dogs, including my senior who has health issues and takes medications. She gave me frequent, comprehensive updates, and sent plenty of much-appreciated photos of my fur babies (and even of my aquarium and flowers). She took excellent care of the household generally, followed all my instructions/requests, and was very professional and communicative. The dogs were lucky to have her. I'll call on her again in a heartbeat!”

“Breanna saved us last minute when a friend cancelled dog sitting for our 3 while on a short trip. She was very kind and sent lots of pics. Would recommend her to anyone!”

“Brandi was awesome! She came and stayed with our 4 month old pup at our house for 6 hours while we attended a wedding. Took him on plenty of walks and was a pleasure to have in our home. Will book again for pet sitting!”

About: professionally, I have taken care of pets for the last 3 years, ranging from dogs to cats to birds to lizards, with care ranging from normal sittings to walks, to overnight work as well. Personally, I have taken care of pets my whole life, currently either six cats and a big dog (and a gecko). Dogs have always been drawn to me it seems, with all of them (save for one 😅) growing to love me in time. Let me add your pet to that list! I am as malleable as the client needs me to be. Obviously that can change around holidays sometimes, but generally I am super available and almost always by my phone if needed. I unfortunately cannot offer boardings as I have a dog and that would not be fair to her. However, when I do sittings, especially overnight ones, my goal is to leave the pet parent’s as close to how it looked when I got there.

About: Hi, I’m Hope! I’ve always felt at home with animals, especially dogs. I believe every dog has their own unique personality, and I love taking the time to understand what makes them feel safe, happy, and loved. Whether your pup is energetic and playful or calm and cuddly, I’ll meet them where they are with patience, kindness, and genuine care. I’m dependable, attentive, and treat every pet as if they were my own. You can expect regular updates, photos, and clear communication so you always know your furry family member is happy and in good hands. I’m comfortable with walks, playtime, feeding routines, administering basic medications if needed, and giving plenty of affection and companionship. My goal is to provide a calm, loving environment where your dog feels secure while you’re away. I know trusting someone with your pet is a big decision, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. I’d love the opportunity to care for your best friend and become someone you can rely on whenever you need a helping hand.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats for years now for neighbors, family members, and friends. I love animals and am looking forward to meeting and taking care of more! I’m available to sit on weekends and before and after my 9-5 during the week. I’m willing to visit your dog or cat before and after work or throughout the day on weekends and keep them company or walk them! I am willing to walk your pets, feed them, play with them, and whatever else you need when at your home. I do not have any pets of my own currently and a fenced in yard at my home.
“Fourth time that Linda and Steven and stayed with our doggos and man oh man do we feel lucky. I know our dogs, and our house, are in great hands whenever they are involved. They are truly kind, communicative, and friendly people. They take the dogs on walks, follow their routine, treat them like their own, communicate with us so well, and make us feel safe leaving our family members in their care. All I can say is "Thank You!"”
“Wonderful care giver, will only be asking for her services from now on! All my fur-babies are well fed, well walked, and happy! Thank you Randi for your excellence.”

“Dawn did a terrific job dog and house sitting for a week for us. We came home to a happy dog and a home just as we left it. Dawn will always be our first choice to take care of Stella and our abode.”

“I mean, the level of attention to detail and consciousness Hanan brings to the care of our pets is matchless. I felt so at ease during our trip away, and she always follows through!”

About: (New Account) Hi there I’m Julianna and I have 20+ years of animal care experience under my belt! I grew up in a unique situation with over 15+ animals in my house at a given time as my mother was an animal fosterer and relocator. This allowed me to amass a lifelong experience of taking care of animals of all different sizes, temperaments, and health conditions. I have worked with a wide range of animals including exotic pets, farm animals, and rescues. I have a deep understanding in animal behavior which allows me to carefully tailor your furry babies individual needs. I am skilled in daily feedings(live too), light grooming, administering medications all while creating an environment that feels safe and healthy. Life can get busy. I can assist with transportation to and from your veterinary clinic, groomers, or airport. I work from home so I am able to be extremely accommodating to your pets needs. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Grosse Pointe Farms
Khelsi is truly the best. I was extremely nervous leaving my little man with someone new. My previous sitter, who was not Rover-related, was not the best fit. Khelsi came to the rescue. She's extremely professional, attentive, and caring. I travel for work and am over the moon to have found her. 10/5 stars.

Breanna sat for my 2 dogs while we were on vacation for 5 days. She stayed at our house and everything went great. She kept us updated with daily pictures, which was reassuring! I will definitely use her again and refer her to friends and family! Thank you Breanna!!
Lauren was wonderful while watching our baby boy, Astro. She gave us plenty of updates and pictures during the weekend. It was a weight off our shoulders to have someone in our own home watching our dog, so we knew he was comfortable and in his own environment. Lauren followed instructions and left our house nice and clean. We would definitely use Lauren again for any dog watching needs in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Grosse Pointe Farms on Rover is $36.63 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Grosse Pointe Farms walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Grosse Pointe Farms maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Grosse Pointe Farms choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
