lauri helped us out recently with housesitting and watching our two cats - one of whom required medication twice daily and some other specifications throughout the day. lauri was great with caring for both him and his brother, giving them everything they needed and making sure that they were happy and healthy while we were away. she sent photos and detailed updates and it gave us such peace of mind knowing that she was looking after them. we came home to happy cats and a well taken care of house - i would highly recommend lauri and will be booking with her again!

I sincerely cannot recommend Meghan highly enough! Don't hesitate to book with her if she is available. Meghan stayed with my puppy Farley for 3 nights while I was out of town with family and truly made it the easiest and most reassuring experience I could ask for as a first-time pet parent. She handled Farley's routine effortlessly, providing regular updates and the sweetest pictures to let me know he was being well taken care of at all times. Her communication and professionalism from the moment I booked to the moment she left at the end of her stay was more than I could've ever expected. 12/10 experience, will absolutely book again if both of our schedules permit :)

Cheryl is wonderful and very kind. Our dog Bella takes time to warm up to people and she didn’t have a problem warming up to Cheryl and snuggling on the couch with her. I already have her booked to house sit for us before the end of the year. Thank you for your care of our pack, Cheryl!

As soon as Annie met Jean, she immediately loved her and I knew she was in good hands. Jean is very empathetic and understanding of the challenge in leaving your baby with someone else, but I knew everything was good with her. Jean was a great communicator, and I loved getting the updates. This is the most relaxed I think I have ever been leaving her so truly so grateful 💜💜

About: I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember, with 7 years of experience caring for dogs. While I don’t have a dog of my own I have two bunnies I adore and, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after pets for friends and family, gaining experience with various breeds and temperaments. From puppies to senior dogs, I’m skilled in providing personalized care, ensuring each pet feels comfortable and loved while their owners are away. I am a recent college grad with a BFA in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Wayne State University. I am currently living in Grosse Pointe Michigan. I as I am a part time nanny, have a relatively flexible schedule, so depending on what your pet’s needs are I would love to accommodate and be of service to you and your pet.🫶 Safety, trust, and a comfortable environment are my top priorities when caring for pets. I ensure pets are always supervised, and I tailor the care to meet each pet’s unique needs. I’m mindful of your pet’s routine and create a safe, cozy space for them to feel at ease. With my flexible schedule and experience, I’m able to offer attention and care that’s both nurturing and reliable, so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.

About: professionally, I have taken care of pets for the last 3 years, ranging from dogs to cats to birds to lizards, with care ranging from normal sittings to walks, to overnight work as well. Personally, I have taken care of pets my whole life, currently either six cats and a big dog (and a gecko). Dogs have always been drawn to me it seems, with all of them (save for one 😅) growing to love me in time. Let me add your pet to that list! I am as malleable as the client needs me to be. Obviously that can change around holidays sometimes, but generally I am super available and almost always by my phone if needed. I unfortunately cannot offer boardings as I have a dog and that would not be fair to her. However, when I do sittings, especially overnight ones, my goal is to leave the pet parent’s as close to how it looked when I got there.

About: I have over 25 years of experience caring for, loving and training various dogs and cats of all ages and sizes. My wife and I have 3 rescue dogs and 5 rescue cats, plus we regularly foster puppies and kittens. I know how important it is to ensure your babies are in good hands and safe while you’re away! I’ve worked with dogs and cats of many different ages, breeds, and temperaments over the years and have experience with potty, obedience and leash training, as well as caring for senior animals or administering medication etc. I love every pet as if they were my own!! I work fully remote so am entirely flexible throughout my day, including nights and weekends. I am able to accommodate the needs of the pet whether it involves a quick stop or an extended stay. I will always make sure your pet is secured in a fenced yard or on a leash. I don’t even like to leave pets unattended in the yard without keeping an eye on them. In the house it is important that boundaries are adhered to if there are certain areas off limits, and crate trained dogs are secured in their crate when left at home.

About: I grew up with dogs and found a love for them at an early age. I always had Labradors but love all dogs. I have been dog walking since middle school. I am currently a rising junior at Wayne State University and love all pets but love dogs! I have been dogsitting consistently for family and friends over the years and love taking care of pets:) I am currently a full time student in the fall, but I babysit a few days a week but am home a lot of the time. I do not have a fenced yard, but am very comfortable taking any dogs out on a leash and am comfortable having your pup sleep with me or can have them in a crate.

Hannah was great!! Our first time using Rover, and everything went perfectly - she was friendly, responsible, and handled everything -- our home, a senior diabetic dog, and a 4 month old puppy wonderfully. She sent periodic photos to ease our minds while we were away - Zero complaints and zero concerns. She's a pro and worth every penny. Thanks!!!

From the moment Caelan showed up and interacted with my dog, I knew I had chosen well. Marvin is a rescue pit mix with severe separation anxiety, so not everyone's cup of tea, but I could tell from her easy, confident body language that they would get along just fine. Caelan was very understanding and accommodating despite me booking last minute. If her schedule allows, I will definitely book with her again!

Khelsi is truly the best. I was extremely nervous leaving my little man with someone new. My previous sitter, who was not Rover-related, was not the best fit. Khelsi came to the rescue. She's extremely professional, attentive, and caring. I travel for work and am over the moon to have found her. 10/5 stars.

FAQs for House Sitting - Grosse Pointe Farms

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Grosse Pointe Farms on Rover is $36.63 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,799 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Grosse Pointe Farms. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Grosse Pointe Farms walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Grosse Pointe Farms maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Grosse Pointe Farms choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Grosse Pointe Farms. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
