Lauri was amazing. She was wonderful with my dogs, including my senior who has health issues and takes medications. She gave me frequent, comprehensive updates, and sent plenty of much-appreciated photos of my fur babies (and even of my aquarium and flowers). She took excellent care of the household generally, followed all my instructions/requests, and was very professional and communicative. The dogs were lucky to have her. I'll call on her again in a heartbeat!

Khelsi is truly the best. I was extremely nervous leaving my little man with someone new. My previous sitter, who was not Rover-related, was not the best fit. Khelsi came to the rescue. She's extremely professional, attentive, and caring. I travel for work and am over the moon to have found her. 10/5 stars.

Cheryl is wonderful and very kind. Our dog Bella takes time to warm up to people and she didn’t have a problem warming up to Cheryl and snuggling on the couch with her. I already have her booked to house sit for us before the end of the year. Thank you for your care of our pack, Cheryl!

Steven and Linda, you guys are the best! Thank you for taking great care of our two Boxers! This is our first experience using Rover and we struck gold. Before we ever booked, they came over for about 45 minutes and met our dogs, asked questions about the routine, and we all made sure we were comfortable. Once we booked, they sent us pictures and were communicative the whole time. They took great care of our dogs and our house. They truly went the extra mile. When we came home from our travels, our house was cleaner than when we left! And most importantly, our furry ones were happy and healthy. Steven and Linda are delightful. You would be lucky to have them.

About: I grew up with dogs and raised a litter of 10 puppies growing up. Currently I have no pets but watch a senior dog occasionally. I am a dental school student and I currently have full availability through the summer to pet sit. When school starts I will still be available mornings and evenings! I can take pets for walks and runs in the morning, afternoon, and evening happily! I could also pop by during the day if in town

About: I grew up with dogs and found a love for them at an early age. I always had labrador retrievers but love all dogs. I have been dog walking since middle school and now I am currently a rising junior at Wayne State University and love all pets but love dogs specifically:) I have been dogsitting consistently for family and friends over the years and love taking care of all pets:) I am currently a full time student in the fall, but I babysit a few days a week on but am home a lot/most of the time. I do not have a fenced yard, but am very comfortable taking any dogs out on a leash and am comfortable having your pup sleep with me or can have them in a crate.

I sincerely cannot recommend Meghan highly enough! Don't hesitate to book with her if she is available. Meghan stayed with my puppy Farley for 3 nights while I was out of town with family and truly made it the easiest and most reassuring experience I could ask for as a first-time pet parent. She handled Farley's routine effortlessly, providing regular updates and the sweetest pictures to let me know he was being well taken care of at all times. Her communication and professionalism from the moment I booked to the moment she left at the end of her stay was more than I could've ever expected. 12/10 experience, will absolutely book again if both of our schedules permit :)

From the moment Caelan showed up and interacted with my dog, I knew I had chosen well. Marvin is a rescue pit mix with severe separation anxiety, so not everyone's cup of tea, but I could tell from her easy, confident body language that they would get along just fine. Caelan was very understanding and accommodating despite me booking last minute. If her schedule allows, I will definitely book with her again!

Brandi stayed with our two dogs for a week. She did a wonderful job. She kept us informed everyday and sent lots of videos and pics of our dogs. She was very flexible and supportive during a crazy time… our house was being renovated and we were in the middle of a move. Our return flights were delayed and Brandi worked with to assure our dogs were going to be cared for even if our flight was canceled. Brandi is a Star!

Hanan took our dogs on multiple walks a day and helped work with some basic training skills as well. She left our home clean and our dogs happy. I would recommend Hanan to watch after your pups.

About: I've had 2 dogs for their entire life. Raised and house broken a lot of puppies along the way. I used to foster for It takes a village. I love dogs. I have treat trained a lot of dogs over the years. Kennel training is also something I've done. I work from home so I can spend a lot of time with your pet. I have lots of time to dedicate to your pet. I have a fenced in yard and lots of sidewalks and parks to visit locally. All pets need the same thing love, space to run, and food. I can provide that anywhere.

About: professionally, I have taken care of pets for the last 3 years, ranging from dogs to cats to birds to lizards, with care ranging from normal sittings to walks, to overnight work as well. Personally, I have taken care of pets my whole life, currently either six cats and a big dog (and a gecko). Dogs have always been drawn to me it seems, with all of them (save for one 😅) growing to love me in time. Let me add your pet to that list! I am as malleable as the client needs me to be. Obviously that can change around holidays sometimes, but generally I am super available and almost always by my phone if needed. I unfortunately cannot offer boardings as I have a dog and that would not be fair to her. However, when I do sittings, especially overnight ones, my goal is to leave the pet parent’s as close to how it looked when I got there.

Casie was a wonderful dog sitter for the weekend I traveled to Chicago! I was very nervous to leave my puppy alone for the first time; especially after his surgery. However, Casie did a wonderful job taking care of both my dog’s health and ease my mind by sending lots of updates. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter!

Brit was an absolute gem of a dog sitter while caring for our sweet Maybelle. From the moment she stepped in, it was clear that she approaches her work with remarkable thoughtfulness and heart. She didn’t just “watch” Maybelle — she truly cared for her, paying close attention to her routines, her little quirks, and all the small details that make her who she is. Brit kept us updated and gave us such peace of mind, which is priceless when you’re away from your beloved pet. It felt like Maybelle wasn’t simply being looked after — she was being genuinely cherished. And as if that weren’t enough, we returned home to a house that was beautifully tidied and welcoming. There’s something so comforting about walking back into a calm, cared-for space after time away, and Brit made that happen effortlessly. We’re beyond happy with her care and can’t recommend her enough. She treats both pets and homes with the same warmth and respect as if they were her very own — and that makes all the difference.

FAQs for House Sitting - Grosse Pointe

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Grosse Pointe on Rover is $46.01 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,793 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Grosse Pointe. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Grosse Pointe walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Grosse Pointe maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Grosse Pointe choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Grosse Pointe. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
