“Michaela and her partner are amazing!!! Their dog Gus is extremely friendly and adorable. My dog had the best time there and was taken care of like she was their own (both for doggy day care and weekend boarding). She took her to the dog park multiple times, many walks, always providing updates and sending pictures. Super friendly, responsive, and responsible. Couldn’t recommend more.”

“Savannah was fantastic in taking in our pup for a last minute daycare stay. She was responsive, caring, flexible and so great with our girl Phoebe! Our pup is needy, anxious and a bit quirky but Savannah was great with her. Would absolutely use her again!”

“Lindsay is fantastic. She has been a lifesaver with our new pup. He always comes home happy and tired, and Lindsay always gives great updates so I know exactly how our pup has been throughout the day. I couldn’t recommend her more.”

“Our rescue pup Cora has been so well cared for by Alma + Birdy + family - we are so grateful for fun filled days playing in their backyard, going on walks, and chilling while we are at work.”

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong dog lover based in Portland, Maine, and I work from home full time, which means your dog will rarely be alone and will receive plenty of attention throughout the day. I live in a dog-friendly apartment near Back Cove and absolutely love going on long walks around the city, rain or shine! I’ve been caring for dogs for family and friends my entire life and have truly never met a dog I didn’t like. I treat every dog as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, relaxed companionship, or simply having someone nearby throughout the day, I’m happy to tailor my care to your dog’s individual needs. I work from home full time, which allows me to be flexible and available throughout the day for walks, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship. Your dog will rarely be left alone and will receive consistent attention and care. I’m available for daytime walks as well as extended dog sitting, including week-long stays. I live in a clean, dog-friendly apartment with no unsafe areas, and dogs are constantly monitored since I work from home full time. I carefully follow all owner instructions and keep doors, leashes, and routines secure. Walks are always done on leash, and your dog’s safety, comfort, and well-being are my top priorities at all times.
“Emily and Kieran took a very good care of our dog! They were very accomodating even on the last minute notice, and were very flexible on the timing, which we really appreciate :) They took Ohsam out for a walk several times, gave lots of loves and cuddles. I can see Ohsam had a great time with the family! Would recommend them during our next visit in Portland. Thank you!!”

“This was my first time leaving our new adopted puppy with someone. Rachel made it completely stress free. She was so well cared for and exhausted by the end of the day. I especially loved the many updates and pictures. We will definitely use Rachel in the future!”

About: I've loved dogs since we had our first one as a child. Friends continue to ask me to watch their dogs. I’m essentially retired so I have time to take the dogs on neighborhood walks, dog parks and nearby trails when appropriate. We allow pups on our furniture (yes beds too), but they have the option to sleep and go wherever they want (well, all the safe places anyway). I very recently retired and have time for pups. If they need or want exercise I can walk them here in the neighborhood or on very nearby trails and/or dog parks if they need socialization too. We leave it to the dog (their or their human’s choice) as we're fine with our pet friends joining us (or alone) on the furniture and beds.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was 10. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to walk, feed, and bathe their pets, and I’ve worked with all ages, from playful puppies to gentle seniors and occasionally some reactive dogs. I’m patient, dependable, and treat every dog like my own. I’m currently working part-time from home and getting my master’s degree, so I have plenty of time to play with your pups! I’m available for boarding on weekends and weekdays. I love including walks, playtime, and snuggles as part of my daily routine, it’s the best part of my day! I have a small yard and live near a park as well as access to many trails. I make sure all pets are safe, supervised, and comfortable at all times. I can crate your dog if needed and will always follow your specific feeding, walking, or medication instructions to ensure your pet feels right at home.

About: I raised, trained, and cared for my family dog from a puppy when I was in high school. Post college I adopted a senior dog and cared for him for the last couple of years of his life. In the meantime I have been a sitter for friends and family dogs and cats over the years. I am used to giving medications (even when it needs to be disguised) and staying on a feeding schedules. I am very up for caring for senior dogs who want to lay around the house, and equally ready to go on long walks with a dog with more energy. I work from home always, so will be around during the day for pups who like to hang! I'm on the East End of Portland with the Eastern Prom very close by so plenty of places to walk and explore. I am usually out and about in the evenings for a few hours at a time. On the weekends I like to be busy, but can certainly adjust my time when I have a dog or cat around. I have a large one bedroom, and am on the 3rd floor. So my place is likely not good for pets with mobility issues (unless they are small enough that I can carry them). I live very close to lots of nature easily accessible and make a point to get outside often.
“Lucy did a great job taking care of my puppy while I was away. 10/10 experience, quick response times, took my puppy on multiple walks and even washed his blanket. I would recommend her to anyone and I will definitely be booking again!”

About: I'm dedicated to your dog's well-being and offer genuine love, playful engagement, and a safe home and environment to ensure a stress-free experience. I have been a dog owner my entire life and I know how to read the body language of dogs. I nurture trust so that your dog is as happy here as s/he is in your home. We have two rescue dogs here in the home, Phoebe and Canela. Phoebe has been with us since she was a tiny chiweenie puppy six years ago, and Canela is a two year old sweetheart that was starving/living on the streets in Oaxaca, Mexico. Little did I know when I fell in love with her that the only way to get her home was to have her driven here in February! I am a writer and have a small gardening & vintage business which allows me to be at home close to full-time. Because I have a fenced in yard, I leave the door to my back porch open and our dogs go in and out of the home as they wish. I am here to monitor them, of course! I have a big fenced yard and two dogs that love to play and go for walks on the Greenbelt which is across the street. When they are inside, they sleep like queens on the couch or bed. Their favorite activity when they are not playing is to stare out the front window from the bed and bark at all the dogs that dare walk by our home.
“Our 5 month old puppy moose loved daycare with Emilia! After getting neutered he needed a break from daycare to fully recover. Emilia did a great job at keeping him entertained throughout the day, while keeping a close eye on his stitches. Every night we picked up moose he was so tired from all the fun he had! We will definitely be using Emilia again in the future!”

About: I am new to Portland from Philadelphia. I do have a full-time job as a chaplain in the maritime industry but, I make my own schedule and have plenty of times to walk or take care of pups and or check in on cats. I live off of Forest Ave in the Oakdale section of Portland.. I presently cannot board in my apartment. I am new to Portland and looking forward to meeting some pups and kitties I do have a full-time job as a Chaplain here but have plenty of time to work around my schedule! I treat your pets and all of the dogs and cats I look after as if they are my own, as if I am in my own home even though I'm on their turf
Riverton dog parents share their Rover experiences
Gwen was exceptional. I appreciate her being so patient and caring with Quincy. This was the first time Quincy stayed at a sitter's home and the new experience caused her a bit of anxiety and confusion. I was also a little nervous. Gwen insisted I shouldn't worry and kept me apprised of how Quincy was doing throughout the evening. When I returned for Quincy she was out for a walk with Gwen and things had worked out fine. Thank you, Gwen!
