“We had a wonderful experience leaving our dog Willow with Alma! She was very communicative before and during the booking which always makes the Rover process feel easier and more reassuring. Alma’s dog, Birdy, is super sweet as well. Willow seemed comfortable right away and according to Alma settled in more as the day went on. Great yard, deck for doggie lounging and overall set up from the house (super easy to see the yard from most parts of the downstairs). We will definitely book again. Highly recommend!”

About: I have been a pet carer since I could hold a spoon and scoop cat food onto a plate. My family had two cats for my entire childhood; they lived to 18 and 19 years old! I have cat-sat for friends and family for all my life and through this have become extremely comfortable with cats—from the grumpy to the cuddly. I have given cats medicine in most forms that don't require a certification (pills, syringe, in food, inhalers, ointments... just no injections!) and have sitted for kittens, cats with illnesses like chronic respiratory issues, cancer, and severe skin allergies, and have no queasiness when it comes to the realities of life with cats! With dogs, I have more of the proper pet-sitting experience. That has really ramped up in the last year, since we moved to Portland and into an apartment that is pet-friendly. I have loved getting to know each dog and adjusting so they have the best time possible (it can't be easy leaving home for a stranger's house!). For example, one dog tends to have a much better, more peaceful day if I get him out to the woods for a run/walk in the morning before work (who wouldn't!) Another loves to cuddle, so we put a blanket on the couch so that she can snuggle while we watch TV at night with constant pets. Another is whip-smart, so I try to make sure we do extra enrichment/play time. With all animals, I try to go above and beyond and see them as individuals with distinct personalities and needs. :) I am a work-from-home journalist who would absolutely love some company, playtime, cuddles, and more reasons to get outside during the day. Sadly, I travel too much right now to adopt a pet of my own. I would very much appreciate the opportunity to bond with and share my space with an animal! My work schedule is incredibly flexible, but in general I am home all day, with some sort of exercise in the morning that I would be happy to make part of the pet sitting experience, a remote work day wherein I have a lot of freedom to take breaks. I also have a small porch, a medium-sized fenced yard, a larger non-fenced yard, and a beautiful suburban area to walk with nearby parks. I am often away from home for a few hours in the evening, but I am flexible and happy to stay home with an animal if necessary. Flexibility is the name of the game! We live in a very safe area, in a pet-friendly home. It is just my partner and I, two young professionals, in an apartment that regularly hosts animals for boarding. As a previous long-time pet owner and sitter, I am aware of the best practices regarding animal safety (depending on the animal). I prioritize comfort and respect with animals. I think of animals as a member of the family, and will care for their interest and safety as I would a child who was in my care.

About: I absolutely love all animals, and have cared for dogs since I was born. In addition, I've helped foster and adopt out over 40 dogs in my life, so I have extensive experience with caring for dogs of all types. I recently relocated to Maine and I have lots of free time to care for your furry family member. Bring on the pups please! I love them. I have a large apartment in the West End of Portland. It's very quiet with minimal traffic and lots of other dogs around. I can crate your dog but also I am home most days and prefer to spend time with dogs rather than leave them alone. Would love to take them on hikes / beach days if they are love that as well!

About: I raised, trained, and cared for my family dog from a puppy when I was in high school. Post college I adopted a senior dog and cared for him for the last couple of years of his life. In the meantime I have been a sitter for friends and family dogs and cats over the years. I am used to giving medications (even when it needs to be disguised) and staying on a feeding schedules. I am very up for caring for senior dogs who want to lay around the house, and equally ready to go on long walks with a dog with more energy. I work from home always, so will be around during the day for pups who like to hang! I'm on the East End of Portland with the Eastern Prom very close by so plenty of places to walk and explore. I am usually out and about in the evenings for a few hours at a time. On the weekends I like to be busy, but can certainly adjust my time when I have a dog or cat around. I have a large one bedroom, and am on the 3rd floor. So my place is likely not good for pets with mobility issues (unless they are small enough that I can carry them). I live very close to lots of nature easily accessible and make a point to get outside often.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was 10. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to walk, feed, and bathe their pets, and I’ve worked with all ages, from playful puppies to gentle seniors and occasionally some reactive dogs. I’m patient, dependable, and treat every dog like my own. I cannot accommodate dogs that are not crate trained. I have a 5 month old puppy, so dogs must be puppy friendly. I’m currently working part-time from home and getting my master’s degree, so I have plenty of time to play with your pups! I’m available for boarding on weekends and weekdays. I love including walks, playtime, and snuggles as part of my daily routine, it’s the best part of my day! I have a small yard and live near a park as well as access to many trails. I make sure all pets are safe, supervised, and comfortable at all times. I can crate your dog if needed and will always follow your specific feeding, walking, or medication instructions to ensure your pet feels right at home.

About: Hello! My name is Julianne. I first joined Rover in 2018 but am only just starting to actively use it now (2026). I do not have any pets myself yet, but I love animals and a lot of my close friends and family have dogs. I have ~5 years of experience with pet sitting, house sitting, and walking dogs. I work full time from home, so I am able to hang out with your pup all day. My job is very flexible with me taking breaks when needed, so I will have plenty of opportunities to take your pup out for walks or bathroom breaks. My space is quiet, clean, and safe. I work from home and would love the extra company. I do not have any pets myself. I live with a close friend and she also does not have any pets, but she is very dog friendly.
