About: I’ve loved animals my entire life and have had three dogs and two cats over the years. I’m currently raising a golden retriever puppy with my family and absolutely love spending time with dogs. About: I grew up helping raise several litters of kittens to healthy and happy adults, and have lived around cats all my life, so I know a lot about their behaviour. I've also bonded with many "problematic" cats who were said to have been "near-feral" or "unadoptable" and helped coax them a bit out of their trauma into being more open to human touch and affection. I have experience doing basic grooming for cats: bathing, brushing, shaving away mats, trimming claws, brushing teeth, and cleaning ears. I do not have experience doing "style" cuts for cats. I own a dog who is very friendly and gentle with cats, but if your feline is timid around dogs I can easily keep them separated.

About: Longtime dog lover and owner, current parent of a 9-year-old Siberian Husky service dog whom I trained to myself. I love dogs of all sizes and shapes and personalities and I can't wait to meet all the wonderful furkids that I'll be looking after in the future. I'm always telling people "I may have trouble remembering your name, but I will always remember your pet's name." Though I am small in stature I'm actually quite strong and can handle large/muscular dogs (and the occasional feral cat when necessary), because I just know how to move with them/guide them. I'm also not intimidated by aggressive behavior in animals, nor do I meet it with aggression in return. I always try to calm the animal and figure out the issue, putting myself between them and anyone/anything that might upset them further. I have a personality/presence that dogs seem to love, from the timid to the social, the calm to the active. I'm a fast walker, so your dog will certainly get a workout they'll love as they keep pace with me, but I can also meander when needed for the older dogs and fumbling puppies. I have experience doing basic grooming for dogs: bathing, brushing, shaving away mats, clipping nails, trimming the fur between pawpads, brushing teeth, and cleaning ears. I do not have experience doing "style" cuts for dogs. I know snake pet care as well, so feel free to inquire if you need someone to look after your danger noodle! Pet care is my primary work focus right now as I work through completing my online schooling towards getting my degree and Vet Tech licence. I have a backyard for your dog to play in alongside my very friendly Husky. It's not fenced in, but I keep a spare long-lead on-hand, same kind as I use for my girl, for guest dogs. If your dog is an especially strong one please let me know and I'll make sure to have an lead appropriate for your dogs weight strength available. Inside the house is dog-friendly and spacious, and I can crate your dog if needed. My dog is allowed on the couch and my bed, so do let me know if those are no-go areas for your dog. If your cat likes outside time I can provide walks and/or put them out in the backyard on the spare long-lead.

I understand different animals have different needs and routines. Here to help look after your animals for dog walks, drop in visits, potty breaks, babysitting! About: I raised, trained, and cared for my family dog from a puppy when I was in high school. Post college I adopted a senior dog and cared for him for the last couple of years of his life. In the meantime I have been a sitter for friends and family dogs and cats over the years. I am used to giving medications (even when it needs to be disguised) and staying on a feeding schedules. I am very up for caring for senior dogs who want to lay around the house, and equally ready to go on long walks with a dog with more energy. I work from home always, so will be around during the day for pups who like to hang! I'm on the East End of Portland with the Eastern Prom very close by so plenty of places to walk and explore. I am usually out and about in the evenings for a few hours at a time. On the weekends I like to be busy, but can certainly adjust my time when I have a dog or cat around. About: I have been a pet carer since I could hold a spoon and scoop cat food onto a plate. My family had two cats for my entire childhood; they lived to 18 and 19 years old! I have cat-sat for friends and family for all my life and through this have become extremely comfortable with cats—from the grumpy to the cuddly. I have given cats medicine in most forms that don't require a certification (pills, syringe, in food, inhalers, ointments... just no injections!) and have sitted for kittens, cats with illnesses like chronic respiratory issues, cancer, and severe skin allergies, and have no queasiness when it comes to the realities of life with cats! With dogs, I have more of the proper pet-sitting experience. That has really ramped up in the last year, since we moved to Portland and into an apartment that is pet-friendly. I have loved getting to know each dog and adjusting so they have the best time possible (it can't be easy leaving home for a stranger's house!). For example, one dog tends to have a much better, more peaceful day if I get him out to the woods for a run/walk in the morning before work (who wouldn't!) Another loves to cuddle, so we put a blanket on the couch so that she can snuggle while we watch TV at night with constant pets. Another is whip-smart, so I try to make sure we do extra enrichment/play time. With all animals, I try to go above and beyond and see them as individuals with distinct personalities and needs. :) I am a work-from-home journalist who would absolutely love some company, playtime, cuddles, and more reasons to get outside during the day. Sadly, I travel too much right now to adopt a pet of my own. I would very much appreciate the opportunity to bond with and share my space with an animal! My work schedule is incredibly flexible, but in general I am home all day, with some sort of exercise in the morning that I would be happy to make part of the pet sitting experience, a remote work day wherein I have a lot of freedom to take breaks. I also have a small porch, a medium-sized fenced yard, a larger non-fenced yard, and a beautiful suburban area to walk with nearby parks. About: Growing up with dogs all around was and continues to be a fun and deeply rewarding experience. I have cared for dogs (and cats, etc.) since I was a kid, and still often take care of family and friends' pets. Providing enrichment and engagement, anticipating and caring for needs, wrangling wily actors, managing space and time in a positive attitude, and thinking and acting flexibly, attuned to diverse and changing needs, are not only things required from a good dog walker - these are tasks I complete daily as a middle school teacher. I am available all day most Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with some availability on the weekends. During the school year, my availability will mostly be on the weekends, though I will be available during school breaks and holidays. As a dog walker, safety is the most important aspect. About: My first job was at Mainely Dog, a doggy daycare where I fed and entertained groups of dogs-all sizes and personalities. I’ve grown up with many dogs in my family. We also fostered and took in dogs with behavioral difficulties, even had up to 5 dogs at once so I’m used to handling multiple dogs at a time! My work schedule is incredibly flexible, but in general I am home all day, with some sort of exercise in the morning that I would be happy to make part of the pet sitting experience, a remote work day wherein I have a lot of freedom to take breaks. I also have a small porch, a medium-sized fenced yard, a larger non-fenced yard, and a beautiful suburban area to walk with nearby parks. I am often away from home for a few hours in the evening, but I am flexible and happy to stay home with an animal if necessary. Flexibility is the name of the game! We live in a very safe area, in a pet-friendly home. It is just my partner and I, two young professionals, in an apartment that regularly hosts animals for boarding. As a previous long-time pet owner and sitter, I am aware of the best practices regarding animal safety (depending on the animal). I prioritize comfort and respect with animals. I think of animals as a member of the family, and will care for their interest and safety as I would a child who was in my care.
About: I have cared for animals from dogs to horses to chickens since childhood. I have had greyhounds for the last 8 years and am familiar with their idiosyncrasies, but am happy to walk and sit dogs of all shapes and sizes. I am a teacher, so during the summer I have a flexible schedule for sitting and walks. During the school year, I can board for weekends only. My dog is used to 3 walks a day in the neighborhood and an before-bed potty break, with some trips to trails and parks to keep things interesting. I live on a quiet dead-end street. I do not have a yard, but there are lots of sidewalks for neighborhood walks on leash, and a trail in the woods within walking distance. If your dog likes car rides, we can also go for adventures on other trails. I have a friendly, 6 year old greyhound, Turtle, who gets along well with medium and large dogs, so any boarders must play well with others and be up to date on shots, including kennel cough, and parasite screenings!
