“Donna and Mike were the answer to our prayers for our senior Chihuahua Capri. They were both loving and kind while watching her and sent updates each day, sometimes multiple times a day! Our Capri has health challenges and requires medicine throughout the day as well as help with feeding and mobility since she has a hard time seeing with cataracts. They were wonderful from drop-off to pick-up and gave Capri lots of reassurance and cuddle time. We would highly recommend using them as sitters for your fur babies. We will definitely book them again!”

“Stella did a great job. Harley was walked 2-3 x a day. He really was Happy to see her when the key was dropped off. The house was left spotless. We would definitely use Stella again to watch Harley and our house.”

“Will house-sat and took care of our senior dog Leo over five days and four nights. He did a great job communicating with us and attending to all of Leo's needs. He texted us daily updates with photos. He asked the right questions and also took care of some things around the house. He was easy to work with in getting set up. We highly recommend Will!”

About: I am the biggest animal lover at heart. I truly believe that pets are family, and they deserve the same love, patience, and attention as any human. I've always had a deep connection with animals of all kinds, and spending time with them brings me so much joy. I have professional experience working at a dog daycare, where I was responsible for supervising playgroups, feeding, administering medications when needed, cleaning, and making sure every dog was happy, safe, and well cared for. I've worked with dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and energy levels, from playful puppies to sweet senior dogs. I'm comfortable with high-energy dogs, shy dogs, and everything in between. Safety, trust, and keeping pets happy are always my top priorities. My journey on Rover is trying to work for myself and my furry friends because I love the freedom of constructing my own hours and creating a schedule that works for both me and the pets I care for. To me, taking care of animals is not a job - it is a privilege. I don't take that lightly. Every pet in my care will be treated like my own, with endless love, attention, and respect. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, feeding, overnight care, or just someone to keep them company while you're away, I will be there to make sure they feel safe, loved, and happy. My schedule is very flexible, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. I love being able to create my own hours and work around each pet’s individual routine and needs. I’m available for overnight stays, boarding, walks, drop-ins, and extended daytime care. I’m happy to communicate with you beforehand to make sure your pet’s normal schedule is followed as closely as possible while you’re away. Safety, trust & environment Your pet’s happiness, safety, and comfort are my absolute top priorities! 🐾 I provide care exclusively in the client’s home, which means your pet gets to stay in the place they know and love while keeping their normal routine. I’ll make sure they get plenty of love, attention, playtime, walks, and cuddles while you’re away. I’m also very respectful of your home and will treat it with the same care I give your pets. I’ll follow all of your instructions closely and send you plenty of updates and cute pictures, so you can relax knowing your fur baby is happy, loved, and in great hands! ❤️🐶
About: I love dogs and cats all ages and sizes. I treat them as my own and take care of all their needs. I see all pets as family members. I’ll be happy to take them for long walks and I live close to a dog park!! Each one pet deserves individual attention. I will play, clean and walk them because they deserve the best. Please ask questions and let me know if your friend has special likes and needs. I am more than happy to provide extra services as long as time permits. I really appreciate advance notice from you. I have two cats at home. Your pets are welcome to stay at my place if you feel they will be comfortable. I look forward meeting your best pal! 😃Thank you. I am available full time for dog walking/dog and cat boarding. Flexible schedule for your needs. I love exercise so I want the same for your sweet dogs. I have a fenced yard to keep pets safe. They can play while I watch them. I love to play catch and keep them active.
About: I’ve had a dog since age 10 (now a sweet old boy!) and have fostered puppies! From shy and snuggly to playful and curious - I’ve met them all! Student at UH studying botany in my last year! Pretty flexible and looking to spend time with the pups of the island - originally from California with a good boy at home - I’m looking to cure some homesickness with your doggy! At home, my dog enjoys a fenced yard with plenty of sunshine for his sunning and naps with my cat (supervised of course) and both animals have free reign of the house. In your home all rules placed for your pets will be respected and any accidents cleaned before you can say “woof”!
About: I’ve had dogs ever since I was 8. In the past I’ve had a boxer, a puggle, and an American Shorthair cat. I have a straight-haired toy poodle who I adore the most in the world (I’ve included pictures of him)! I have experience with dog walking and sitting. I think that it’s such a delight to have pets around and would love to watch your furry friend on the weekends! I’ll be sure to send plenty of updates/photos/videos and treat your fur baby like my own. I’ve had experience with many different breeds of dogs from large German Shepherds to small senior Shih-Tzus and I love them all! Family and friends have always been able to rely on me to care for their pets. I love all animals (even though I do have a soft spot for cats and dogs) but I’ve also had birds, fish, a turtle, a hamster, and a bunny in the past. I recently graduated with my Bachelor’s and am taking classes to pursue my Master’s. I am also working as a tutor and behavior therapist with children on the spectrum but I would love to care for your fur babies in my free time! I can provide potty breaks, walk times, and play times and can ensure that your pet will get all my love and attention while they’re with me! :) SITTING AND DAY CARE: Currently I have on my calendar that I’m unavailable on most weekdays and only have availabilities on weekends, however this is just due to my work and school schedule as I don’t have as much time on weekdays as I would on weekends. However, if your fur baby is able to be alone between 4-6 hours on weekdays, feel free to reach out and I’d love to spend time with a new furry friend :) I ensure to respect each home that I am in and make sure to leave it as is, if not cleaner, than when I arrived. I excel at following instructions and always want every fur baby to feel comfortable and loved!
“We feel so lucky to have found Rebecca. She did a great job watching over our two pups for a week. She followed all of our instructions/requests and went above and beyond with the house too! She sent daily updates and plenty of photos. Highly recommend!”

“Kiryl was excellent! Very responsive on time and took great care of my Matteo! Highly recommend Kiryl pet care and staying with your fur babies! Will definitely have him stay with my boy again! Many Thanks”

“Joshua was wonderful with our pets. You can definitely tell how experienced he is with my not-so-easy pup. I can totally tell how he has so many 5-star reviews. He sends great update videos, so I never had to wonder once how my furry friends were doing. Highly recommend you hire him!”
“Shayna was so great with my dog. He has really bad separation anxiety and Shayna stayed all day with him and he loved her. He was able to relax and feel comfortable with her which put our minds at ease while we were gone. So glad we found someone to help us when we need to leave.”

“Alla was perfect for my nervous senior pup Kenna . i found her last minute and she was a perfect fit . she followed all directions perfectly and her communication was quick . i will definitely be asking Alla to babysit again”

“Great experience with Laura as always. She was very patient with me booking last minute and also making a last-minute change on the final day. Two cats with complex feeding requirements and meds. Thank you, Laura!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Portola Hills
We are so grateful to have Rebecca watch our dogs! She was willing to be flexible and hop in to take care of our pups on extremely short notice when we had to rush to the hospital for our baby girls arrival. Our pups were well taken care for which brought so much peace of mind to both my husband and I!

Our dog Sonny had another great experience with Bradey. We were gone for quite a long trip and felt comfortable our pup was well taken care of. Several of our neighbors even went out of their way to tell us they noticed Bradey constantly out on walks and giving Sonny lots of love.

Despite my hesitation about leaving Ella, our 15 week old puppy, Donna did a wonderful job house sitting for us. She was a great communicator and kept me updated on Ella’s well being with regular messages and photos. Donna was attentive, well prepared, and kept our home clean. I highly recommend her!

Maya was wonderful! She stayed at our home for a few nights to take care of our two dogs and our cat, and we couldn't be happier. All of our animals were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for when we got home. She also left our house exactly as we left it, which we really appreciated. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our pets and home were in such good hands while we were away. We're so happy we found Maya and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!

Megan was wonderful. We had daily photos and updates. The kiddos only took one night to get comfy with her and seemed to settle in quickly. Having someone home with the dogs in our home was a really safe feeling for us. Couldn’t have been more happy with the great care Megan gave.

Reagan is an incredible sitter and lovely walker! He listens to your pup and their needs. Is able to provide cuddles, walks, adventures and listen to the smallest of details and quirks your pup may have! 10/10 will have him watch my malinois again. Great knowledge of high energy working breeds as well

I think Paloma was a trooper in the best way. She accepted a job in a house with an antique grandfather clock that has an audible tick-tock and quarterly chimes and requires manual winding. Our dog, Jet, really likes it because she can hear the progress toward mealtime. I appreciate Paloma stepping out of her comfort zone. I think the experience will broaden her experience and add to her value as a pet sitter. Paloma proactively communicated about issues that came up, largely dealing with the grandfather clock. I appreciate her taking the time to do that.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Portola Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Portola Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Portola Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
