Will continues to be a life saver for us!! Not only does he take amazing care of our pups, but our home and other animals, too. He was so considerate to take our bunny to the vet while we were gone when he realized something was wrong with her and didn’t hesitate to do so. He’s got the best communication, sends lots of pictures, and loves on our fur babies when we can’t. I wouldn’t want anyone else looking after them when we are gone. Just please don’t steal him from us. 🤣

Donna and Mike were absolutely fantastic with our dogs over the 4th of July weekend. From the moment we left, they kept us completely at ease with constant communication, frequent updates, and tons of pictures that let us see just how much fun the dogs were having. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend Donna and Mike to anyone looking for trustworthy, caring, and attentive pet sitters, and we’ll absolutely be booking with them again in the future!

About: I have been surrounded by dogs of all ages my whole life, and have extensive experience in plenty of different scenarios. I helped train my dog when she was a puppy, I’m responsible for bathing her, feeding her, picking up her poop, walking her, and more - all the responsibilities of owning a pet. I am also the go-to dog sitter for my friends, family, and colleagues, as I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and do a great job at it. I have experience dog sitting for senior dogs, dogs with special accommodations, dogs who need medication, puppies, hyperactive dogs, standoffish dogs, pretty much every dog under the sun. I have no problems with any situation and can handle anything thrown my way! I have a very flexible part-time job where I can pick my hours, so pet care fits anywhere into my weekly routine where I may choose it. I tend to go above and beyond when pet sitting in the sense that I spend most of my time with the animals, so complete attention and pet care won’t be a problem. I could only care for pets in the client’s home, as my own dog stays at my house and is a solo act, but in a client’s home I would care for pets as if they were my own. I would expect to have access to resources I’d need to properly care for the pets, but I could also bring anything of my own if needed. I am determined to create and maintain a comfortable, safe, and loving environment for any pets that I’d be lucky enough to watch over.

About: I’m an experienced and playful dog walker & sitter who enjoys keeping pups active and happy. I currently walk two dogs twice daily and have cared for family dogs and my own pets. I have a flexible online school schedule, so I’m usually available throughout the week! I can often accommodate mornings, afternoons, evenings, and even nights. Just let me know what time you’re looking for, and I’ll do my best to make it work! When dog sitting in a client’s home, I’ll make sure your pup feels comfortable, safe, and cared for. I’ll follow their normal routine, including feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, and plenty of attention and companionship. I’ll also keep their space clean and treat their home and pet with the same care and respect I would my own.

Seph was a great house sitter and took outstanding care of my dog and cat. Seph was quick to respond to my initial request for a month long house sitting job and it was easy to see from his emails that he was going to be a great house sitter. He came to my house and met my dog and cat, me and the house and we had a good talk and walk with my dog. I could tell he was trustworthy and responsible. While I was away he sent me lots of cat and dog photos which helped me because I missed my pets. I could see he was taking good care of both of them and the house. He even gave my dog a bath! This is the first time I have used Rover for house sitting and it turned out great. When I got home the house was neat and clean and my pets were glad to see me. I would use Seph again for a house sitting job.

Samantha took great care of Jax. I got lots of updates and pictures and confirmations that she was putting in the extra effort for his care. The house was clean and his box was unkept when i got home. He warmed up to her slowly which means she took it at his pace which i greatly appreciate. It means she knows how shy cats can be. Thank you so much and Jax and i Greatly appreciate all the extra efforts. Means so much when I’m away! My old man is almost 19 Now and his care is imprornat to me.

About: Hi, I'm Evan! With nearly a decade of pet care experience and boundless enthusiasm for animals, I'm your go-to walker and sitter. After graduating college, I found joy in providing reliable and considerate care for pets of all sizes and personalities. I recently reached a milestone of 1500 five-star reviews on a popular dog walking app! It's hard to find someone trustworthy who can understand your fur baby's unique needs. Rest assured, your pet's wellbeing is safe with me! I'm known to keep tails wagging! 😁 As a full time provider, I'm very fortunate to able to fill my weekdays with walks and sittings. My weekend availability is more limited, but still feel free to ask! When I care for pets in clients' homes, I prefer having lots of information. Please tell me everything there is to know about your fur baby, so that I can help them be most comfortable. Such as... -their daily food and sleep schedule -toys and treats -favorite rituals -training commands and walking etiquette -any triggers or off-limits areas

About: If your dog has energy to burn, they’ll fit right in with me. I’m an active runner and hiker based in Irvine near the Spectrum, and I love having a copilot for outdoor adventures. Whether your pup needs a brisk morning walk, games of fetch at the park, or trail exploring on weekends, I make sure they get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. This is the only job I have at the moment so my schedule is pretty flexible and can accommodate to your preferred schedule when need be. I am flexible regarding what environment you would want me to take care of your pets. I know some walking trails and dog parks within the area.

I’m so grateful I found Amyra! It was already difficult finding someone available to house sit over the long Labor Day weekend, and leaving my pets to travel has become especially stressful for me. My cat Henry developed asthma about two years ago, and since then I honestly just haven’t chosen to travel because I worried about leaving him with someone who might need to administer his inhaler. Before his diagnosis, I was comfortable with simple drop-in visits, but having a cat with a medical need made being away feel like a completely different situation. Henry is pretty stable, but his need for his regular inhaler can be sporadic. Sometimes he won’t need it for a week, while other times he may need it daily. During my trip, Amyra kept an eye on him and let me know when he was showing symptoms. She administered his inhaler on two nights, including one night when he needed it twice because his symptoms didn’t stop after the first administration. Knowing she was comfortable recognizing when he needed it and taking care of him gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She also sent me photo updates and kept me posted on how both cats were doing, which I really appreciated. On top of taking great care of them, she went above and beyond with things I never even asked her to do. She took out the trash, put the sheets and towels in the washer/dryer, and brought in a package that was delivered while I was gone. Those little things were such a nice surprise when I got home, and I really appreciated her taking the initiative. Packing up and leaving pets, especially one with special needs, can be incredibly stressful, and finding someone I feel comfortable trusting with Henry and Bella is huge for me. After basically avoiding travel for the past two years because of Henry’s asthma, I finally feel like I have someone I can trust with them. I will absolutely use Amyra again, and it honestly feels like I can finally have my life back a little and take some much-needed vacations knowing my cats are in good hands. Thank you so much, Amyra!

Hailey saved our butts when not just one, but two Rover sitters fell through on us just days before we were leaving for a 6 day trip. Luckily we found Hailey and she took great care of both our goofy boys throughout our time away. Our boys are both rescues and while they are total cuddlebugs, they can also be challenging on walks so it’s always worrisome when we leave them behind with new sitters. Luckily they got along great with Hailey. I’ll also add that when our AC stopped working halfway through our stay (thanks SoCal heatwave!) Hailey did her best to keep our boys comfortable, cooling their fur down with water, leaving them ice water to drink, and making sure the fan kept them as cooled off as possible in our home. She was also great about keeping us up to date on their status throughout the week which definitely helped calm my worries. 10/10 will reach out to her again in the future!

Camille is my #1 go to for in-home care for our senior dog when we're traveling. She loves him like her own, carefully follows instructions and is very respectful of him, us and our home. And that he absolutely ADORES her, has fun, gets all the love he wants, AND experiences minimal stress and separation anxiety, is exactly what we hope for for him. FAQs for House Sitting - Lake Forest

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Lake Forest on Rover is $69.93 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 6,107 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lake Forest. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Forest walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Forest maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Forest choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lake Forest. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
