“Emily was great! We had a last minute booking and she was very fast responding through the whole experience. She sent updates and my dogs had a great time! I definitely recommend!!”

“Gina always provides the best, consistent care for Penny! I can leave Penny with peace in mind that she will be well taken care of. Thank you so much Gina! Aarin, Todd and Penny”

“Rebecca was very thoughtful in how she took care of our little guy. She let the dogs take naps in their own space while also having very safe playtime and sent us pictures throughout. She’s a lifesaver as we have been looking for a sitter for a while. Thanks so much to her and her husband for caring for him! My girlfriend adores Aloo and was so nervous to find a new sitter for him but felt so much better after meeting Rebecca and seeing that Aloo was in great company. We are so lucky to have found her and can’t wait to bring him back!”

“David was absolutely amazing with our crazy girl! It’s difficult to find someone who is willing to deal with her special brand of crazy but he had no problem. We will happily have him take care of her again. It’s nice to have finally found someone local that we can trust to leave her with.”

“Kaylee really took great care of Toby even when he put his brakes on during a walk. She sent me pictures n updates. I would definitely recommend Kaylee for ur pup or kitty! Thx!”

About: I am retired as of a few years ago, and we just lost our Bailey girl at 14 years old a few years back. I haven’t adopted a new dog since and instead am taking care of our kids dogs when they go out of town but do miss having a dog around. I’ve cared for about 6 dogs over my lifetime, and would love to care for your pup too. We have a huge yard that is fenced in for them to go out and play and a large neighborhood great for walks. A few of the dogs I have taken care, love to run in our backyard because there is room for them to run. Since I’m retired I have plenty of free time to take care of and play with pups. I love dogs and enjoy interacting with them. I want them to be happy and safe. I have a large, fully fenced in backyard and a separate fenced in side yard both of which can be closed and keep the dog inside. I also welcome any crates if a dog feels more comfortable in a crate at night. If a dog is well behaved at night, they could also bring a bed and sleep next to our bed.
“Mirna was fantastic and took great care of our puppy! We didn’t even have to ask for photos, videos or updates because she just sent them and it was definitely a great reassurance that he was in good hands. Her kids were great as well! Thanks Mirna”

“I can’t say enough great things about Chris! From the very first interaction, it was clear that he is incredibly passionate about what he does. His communication was excellent—updates, pictures, and detailed messages made me feel completely at ease while I was away. He was very transparent about everything from the beginning, from feeding, daily routines to how my dog was adjusting and more, which I truly appreciated. He was also super responsive whenever I had questions and reassured me that my dog was in the best possible hands. What really stood out is his knowledge of dogs and behavior. He understood my dog’s behaviors and needs, and fit his needs and care accordingly. It’s rare to find someone who not only has the skills but also genuinely cares for the animals like they’re his own and I appreciated the gift he gave to our Niko. He loves it!”

About: I’ve cared for my Pembroke Welsh Corgi since he was 10 weeks old, and he is now almost five. I enrolled him in puppy classes, established a consistent daily routine, and have always stayed on top of his veterinary care, vaccinations, checkups, grooming, exercise, and enrichment. Raising him from puppyhood taught me how much patience, consistency, attention, and affection dogs need. I can also administer oral medication and am comfortable caring for dogs of all breeds and sizes. I maintain a highly flexible schedule, so i’m readily available for midday walks and drop-in visits, boarding, and house sitting. I can easily accommodate last-minute, same-day appointments. I plan my day around each dog’s usual feeding, potty, walking, medication, and bedtime routine. During boarding or house sitting, dogs may be left alone for up to three hours at a time, depending on their individual needs. Please let me know if your dog requires more frequent supervision before booking. I live with my boyfriend and our Pembroke Welsh Corgi in an apartment with a large patio. Guest dogs are welcome on our furniture and beds, and I do my best to make them feel like part of the family. Dogs are always supervised while using the patio. For boarding, I require a meet-and-greet with my Corgi so we can make sure the dogs are comfortable together. I follow each owner’s instructions carefully, keep dogs leashed outside, monitor interactions, and maintain their established routines. When house sitting or completing drop-in visits, I will treat your home respectfully and make sure it is secured when I leave. I’m also happy to provide regular photos and updates.
“Temi was amazing! Flik had an absolute blast with her and came home tired and happy. We immediately felt comfortable with Temi from the moment we met. She has such a calm and friendly personality and was great about sending photos and videos of her adventures with Flik. We are looking forward to having her dog sit in the future and I’m sure Flik will be very excited to see her again!”

“Ailen was kind, reliable, and incredibly helpful throughout my dog's entire stay. She took great care of my dog, kept me updated, and gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. I highly recommend her and would definitely book with her again.”

I highly recommend Mahsa! She is incredibly kind, caring, and truly treats dogs with so much love and attention. She was always punctual and reliable, which gave me peace of mind knowing my dog was in great hands. She also kept me updated regularly by sending pictures and videos of my dog, which I really appreciated and made me feel even more reassured while I was away. It’s clear that she genuinely cares about the pets she watches and goes above and beyond to make them feel comfortable and happy. I felt completely at ease leaving my dog with her and would absolutely trust her again in the future!

Francesca did an amazing job watching Rooster! She kept him busy all day playing and going on walks, he is now home tired!:) He has some seasonal allergies and anytime she noticed him itching, she put his cone on when necessary:) We will definitely book again!

Donna was absolutely wonderful in caring for KiKi, our Petite (yet energetic) German Shepherd rescue. Kiki was immediately comfortable with Donna. She was able to not only give safe care and space, but also anticipated our 5 year-old rescue's need for companionship which helped quell Kiki's separation anxiety. This is a massive WIN for Kiki and for us. Our Pup trusted Donna's active yet casual approach which also became an energetic approach as needed. Donna also sent us photos of our dog's day long stay, her walks, chasing balls, her exploring. We nominate Donna for a Rover Doggie Day Care Giver Champion-of-the-Day! Thank you, Donna!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
