“Karen did excellent care for my 5 months old puppy! We did a daycare and she was very flexible with the dropoff/pickup time. She sent several updates with photos during the daytime. Her place is awesome with the dog park in the community.”

“Emely has been super helpful with helping take care of my 3 month old pup. She is very attentive and is always sure to send me updates throughout the day. I definitely recommend!”

“David has been an amazing help! Apollo and Theo (my dogs) seem really happy with him on their daycare adventures. David sends video and photo updates throughout the day so I can see how they’re doing. I have peace knowing they’re well cared for by David! ☺️☺️”

“Mirna was the sweetest for watching our cavapoo for the day! She was super friendly and sweet and took good care of our Leo. She also updated us a few times throughout the day!”

“Shelley was absolutely wonderful! She took such great care of my dog today and was incredibly kind, attentive, and dependable. I felt completely comfortable knowing my dog was in such good hands. I truly appreciate the care and attention she provided and would definitely recommend Shelley to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. Thank you, Shelley! 🐾❤️”

“Very nice first visit with Hannah! She is very kind, caring and nice. Our puppy seemed to have a good day. She sends lots of pictures and updates which is great as it's our first time leaving our puppy.”

“I took a "test drive" with Mark, leaving my dogs with him for a day. He was a great match for my 2 older dogs. He knew how to match their energy and had a very calm presence when they first met him. My pups will usually bark at people when they first met them but not at Mark. They were fine with him for a full day. He took them for a walk and they were fine for him. My "party pup" wanted more pets from Mark before we left. I definitely recommend Mark for a calm & comfortable person & place of care.”

“Ailen was kind, reliable, and incredibly helpful throughout my dog's entire stay. She took great care of my dog, kept me updated, and gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. I highly recommend her and would definitely book with her again.”

“Ted had a wonderful time with Sondra and Kirk. They were so easy to communicate with and just the nicest people! 10/10 would recommend. We will definitely be back for future stays.”

About: I will always love to take care of any animal that needs caring. I’ve always had a passion for animals and have had many pets of my own to take care of. I know the responsibilities that come with dogs whether it be the simple things like taking them out to play or things like giving them their medication, grooming, or just making sure they get some attention. I have had plenty of years of training with my own pets (dogs and rabbits). I truly love to take care of animals and would take excellent care of your furry friend if the opportunity arises!! I’m currently on summer break so super flexible with time, I usually take my own dog on runs with me throughout the week as well as on hikes or to the beach. I am more than willing to come over and give your pet some time outside or whatever is more accommodating to you and your pet’s needs. I would love to play with your pups, board them, take them out, feed them, or any of the sorts! I always like to make sure my animals are more than taken care of and try to give them what they need whether it be physically or emotionally. I am a caretaker as well as companion for any dog. I always make sure my dog has water and food available to him as well as making sure he has access to the bathroom. I love playing, throwing the ball, or any other activity that will keep your pet entertained.
“Jaime was great with Sage. Sage can be nervous first meeting people and Jaime was confident Sage would be taken care of and warm up. She sent several update photos and Sage had a great time. I will definitely hire Jaime again ◡̈”

“Charlene was really great about communicating with us prior to us leaving our dog with her on relatively short notice. She is very friendly, responsible, and kept in contact with us about how our dog was doing in her care. Would highly recommend and book again in the future!”

“Gina and family take such excellent care of my beloved Chevy. Gina sends fun, beautiful pictures of my dog, taken while I am away. He's so happy when I come to pick him up later. Thank you again.🐶”

About: I am retired as of a few years ago, and we just lost our Bailey girl at 14 years old a few years back. I haven’t adopted a new dog since and instead am taking care of our kids dogs when they go out of town but do miss having a dog around. I’ve cared for about 6 dogs over my lifetime, and would love to care for your pup too. We have a huge yard that is fenced in for them to go out and play and a large neighborhood great for walks. A few of the dogs I have taken care, love to run in our backyard because there is room for them to run. Since I’m retired I have plenty of free time to take care of and play with pups. I love dogs and enjoy interacting with them. I want them to be happy and safe. I have a large, fully fenced in backyard and a separate fenced in side yard both of which can be closed and keep the dog inside. I also welcome any crates if a dog feels more comfortable in a crate at night. If a dog is well behaved at night, they could also bring a bed and sleep next to our bed.

“Abby is so wonderful and attentive to dog’s needs! I have been training my puppy to wait for the command to cross the street and I mentioned this to Abby when my puppy stayed with him. I could tell Abby was very consistent with the training as my puppy has been much better about not crossing the street without the ok. Poro loves spending time with Abby and he will definitely be back!”

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
