“We have a very active 60 lb. dog who requires a daily hike. Tina took Hazel out for an hour each day, and when it proved too hot in the afternoon she switched to mornings. She followed all of our requests and Hazel really liked Tina. She (Tina, not Hazel) left the house clean and tidy. We have already made arrangements to hire Tina again. We recommend her wholeheartedly.”

“Chelsea and Richard have been taking care of our fur babies for some time now. We are always happy with the way the house and our pets are taken care of. They're happy and taken care of when we get home as if we were never gone. ❤️🙂 I will always recommend them!”

“Lena was an amazing caregiver for our two dogs while we were out of the country on vacation. She fully demonstrated all the attributes of an exceptional dog sitter— responsible, caring, conscientious, communicative, and nurturing. We would not hesitate to hire her again to watch our dogs and are deeply appreciative of her wonderful care of Remy and Tucker and for also looking after our home while we were gone. Lena is a true gem!”

“Jacqueline is a very soft-spoken and kind lady who took care of our Nutella at our home for a little over two days. Our cat was very well cared for and we received multiple daily photos showing her activity, making us feel very comfortable about having left our cat in Jacqueline's care. She also took very good care of the home. We are very happy with the help Jacqueline gave us in caring for our cat when we were away and will easily consider her for the next time we have a similar need !”

“This is our first time using Rover and I feel like we hit the jackpot with her. Our puppy loved her! She did everything we asked and made herself comfortable in our home. She was on time and promptly replied to all our text.”

“Can’t say enough good things about Sarah! Loved her interaction with my fur babies, loved her desire to learn about my dogs and ask questions, love the pictures and communication….. and absolutely love her professionalism . I believe Sarah will succeed at anything she chooses to do because of her great work ethic. Will definitely use her again!”
“I can’t say enough about Kirsten!! BEST dog sitter I have ever had! We had her stay with our very high anxiety dog for 9 days in our home. We recently had to put down our other two dogs and Bentley has been so depressed and we were so worried about boarding him or just having drop ins because he would be by himself. I requested someone that could stay with him the entire time and Kirsten did just that! She came and met him two weeks before and he takes some time to get to know someone, but by the second day he just loved her. She kept him in his routine even letting him sleep with her like he does us. Walked him daily, let him play in the hose daily (one of his favorite things) Sat with him out in yard, played catch with him another favorite thing and checked in everyday with pictures and videos. She went over and beyond…took our trash cans in and out on trash day, took in our mail and packages, emptied our dishwasher, hosed yard everyday, stripped and washed her bedding and washed dog blankets on couch, cleaned bathroom and kitchen. My house was just as I left it. We were also welcomed home with a sweet note and gift for Bentley! She is the BEST and we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing he was so well taken care of like family ❤️ Our last dog sitter was terrible and i was a wreck the entire time, not this time! She will be the only one I will use from now on!! Highly recommend if you are looking for someone to take care of your pets the same as you would!! Thank you again Kirsten!!!”

“I highly recommend Eduardo! He was very communicative and extremely kind to our older dog while we were away. He followed instructions well and kept us up to date on his activities with our pet. I'd book with him again without hesitation.”

“Yerim was wonderful! She took great care of our critters & house, and had no problem providing special care for our pup when a last minute health issue arose. We would be happy to hire her again!”

“Maggie was amazing with our 5 month old puppy. Our puppy suffers from major separation anxiety, and she didn’t cry once when Maggie was with her! She was very nice and accommodating. Definitely will be using her again in the future”

“This was the second time that Katherine stayed at our house when we went on vacation. Just like last time, she was awesome. She is reliable, trustworthy and our dog loves her! She sent regular updates and pictures. We will definitely continue to book her when we go out of town. Thanks again Katherine!”

About: Runner, dog lover, and experienced with high-energy pups! I have two energetic dogs of my own, so I know how important exercise, patience, and play are. Whether your dog needs a long walk, a run, drop-in care, or overnight sitting, I’m here to keep them happy, active, and cared for like family 🐾 I currently work full-time during the weekdays, but I'm available for morning walks, drop-in visits, and even a quick run if your dog enjoys being active! I'm also completely available on weekends, making it a great time for longer walks, pet sitting, or meet-and-greets before booking. I have two energetic dogs of my own, so I understand the importance of providing a safe, structured, and loving environment. Whether I'm caring for your pet in your home or mine, I always follow your pet's routine, respect your instructions, and make sure they receive plenty of exercise, attention, fresh water, and affection. Safety is my top priority, and I treat every pet like they're part of my own family.

About: I have grown up having and taking care of dogs my whole life, as well as looking after friends' dogs while they are away. I truly believe that a pet is apart of the family and should be treated as such. When sitting dogs I am willing to take extra time and put in the effort to make sure they are fed, exercised, hydrated, and loved as they would be with their family. I am a student-athlete home from college for the summer. I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to spend mornings, midday check ins, and evenings with your pets. I am available to stay overnight if needed. I see pet sitting as an opportunity rather than a task, being excited to look after a part of your family. I am able to take dogs on long walks and keep up with high-energy play time, but I am just as happy providing a calm environment for a more relaxed dog. I am extremely respectful of your space and privacy. I follow all house rules regarding 'off-limits' furniture, feeding schedules, and security protocols; ensuring all doors and gates are double-checked and locked after every visit. Your pet and home's safety, as well as your peace of mind, are my top priorities. I keep dogs on a short, secure leash during walks and avoid high-traffic areas.
About: I'm a dedicated dog owner myself so I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet. I'm patient, attentive e and committed to making every walk safe, fun and stress free. I treat every dog like family. I balance my work schedule with pet care and always make time to provide reliable, attentive, and loving care. I carefully plan my days to ensure each dog receives safe, enjoyable walks and consistent attention. On walks, I focus on providing safe, enjoyable exercise tailored to each dog’s energy level. I always follow the owner’s routine and make sure pets return home happy and well cared for.
“We can't thank Athena enough for the incredible care she provided for our dogs on the 4th of July. With the fireworks causing a lot of anxiety for our pups, Athena's professionalism and attentiveness were a true lifesaver. She went above and beyond to ensure our dogs felt safe and comfortable during a stressful evening. Her calm demeanor and expertise in handling their anxiety made all the difference. We highly recommend Athena to anyone in need of a reliable and caring pet sitter. Thank you, Athena, for your outstanding care!”

About: I’m a huge animal lover, with experience handling both dogs and cats. Currently, I work as a dog handler at a boarding, training, and daycare facility, where I am usually in a room with over 25 dogs at a time. Previously, I worked in a facility that boarded cats as well, where I was responsible for feeding them and cleaning their catios. I have two years of experience handling dogs of all sizes and caring for cats. I also have a 4-year-old French Bulldog and a 2-year-old long-haired cat of my own, which gives me a personal perspective on pet care. My approach is centered around understanding each animal’s unique personality and needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care and attention. Whether it’s energetic playtime, calming anxiety, or just offering plenty of cuddles, I am committed to making every pet feel loved and cared for. My schedule currently involves working 4 to 5 days a week as a dog handler, which means I’m usually available around 4 PM on my working days. On my days off, I’m available all day to provide care and attention to your pets. In-Home Visits: For Dogs: Feeding & Hydration: I adhere to your dog’s regular feeding schedule and ensure they have fresh water at all times. Health & Comfort Checks: I monitor your dog’s well-being, including checking for any signs of health issues and administering medications as needed. I also ensure their living environment is clean and comfortable. Interactive Time: I spend quality time with your dog, providing companionship, playtime, and any specific care they require. This helps keep them engaged and reduces feelings of loneliness. Dog Walking: Exercise & Play: I take your dog for walks based on their needs and preferences, whether it’s a quick potty break or a longer, more energetic walk. I tailor the walk to suit their exercise requirements and ensure they have an enjoyable experience. Safety: I prioritize your dog’s safety during walks, keeping them on a leash and being mindful of traffic, other animals, and any potential hazards. Routine Updates: I provide updates on your dog’s walk, including any observations about their behavior or well-being. For Cats: Feeding & Hydration: I follow your cat’s regular feeding schedule and ensure they always have fresh water available. Litter Box Maintenance: I clean the litter box regularly, ensuring it’s tidy and odor-free to keep your cat comfortable. Grooming & Health Checks: I check your cat for any signs of health issues, provide basic grooming if needed, and administer medications as required. Interactive Time: I engage with your cat through playtime and affection, using interactive toys and gentle petting to ensure they feel loved and stimulated. Environmental Checks: I maintain a clean and safe living space for your cat, ensuring their favorite spots are comfortable and addressing any issues that may arise.
“Esther was fantastic with our cats! We were away for two weeks and left her in charge of our four cats, each with very specific care instructions. She was incredibly attentive to all our needs and followed every note closely. Her communication was clear, consistent, and reassuring throughout our trip. All of our cats were happy, comfortable, and well-cared for in her hands. My husband and I were truly able to enjoy our vacation with peace of mind knowing our pets were safe and content. We highly recommend Esther to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.”

Eduardo is a great person and dog sitter. He communicated throughout the stay, came to meet our dogs prior to sitting and took them for walks. He let us know when he was arriving and leaving and took great care of them. Especially our little one that’s a little shy at first. I highly recommend Eduardo for your pets too

Tiffany went above and beyond caring for Mikey while we were away. This was the first time I had ever left him, so I was naturally nervous, but she completely put me at ease from the start. She sent continuous photo updates, which meant so much and allowed me to see how happy and comfortable he was throughout his stay. Tiffany is incredibly organized, attentive, and meticulous in her care. It was obvious that she truly cared about Mikey's well-being and treated him like family. Knowing he was in such capable and caring hands made all the difference. I cannot recommend Tiffany highly enough and will absolutely trust her with Mikey again in the future.

Highly Recommend Jackie! Jackie was absolutely fantastic with our two dogs! From our very first meet-and-greet, she was incredibly conscientious—taking detailed notes about their schedules and asking thoughtful questions to ensure they received the exact care they needed. She provided regular daily updates, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Both dogs were wonderfully cared for, but what impressed us most was how she handled our more anxious pup. She usually gets very stressed when the family leaves, but she was completely relaxed, happy, and at ease with Jackie. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Dahlia is hands down the best pet sitter we've ever had. She house sat for our two dogs for a week and spoiled them rotten with walks, attention, and cuddles. She kept us updated with lots of photos and videos, and judging by the pictures, our dogs barely noticed we were gone! She went above and beyond by helping with a few household tasks we forgot about before our trip, and we came home to a spotless house and two very happy dogs. Our younger dog, Lucy, can be a handful at times, but Dahlia handled everything with patience and care. We wouldn't hesitate to book her again. She is officially our go-to sitter.

This was my first time Katrina to take care of my rescue. Marley is a special case and can be very skittish around new people. Marley opened right up to Katrina which just shows how great a job she did. I would absolutely recommend Katrina for anyone and will be reaching out to her for my next booking.

We have a very active 60 lb. dog who requires a daily hike. Tina took Hazel out for an hour each day, and when it proved too hot in the afternoon she switched to mornings. She followed all of our requests and Hazel really liked Tina. She (Tina, not Hazel) left the house clean and tidy. We have already made arrangements to hire Tina again. We recommend her wholeheartedly.

I can’t wait enough kind words about Michelle’s. Our boy Rocco is already missing her and it’s only been one day. Her daily check-ins and photos were always wonderful and helped alleviate any stresses while we were away. I highly recommend her for anyone who is on the fence about finding someone who will treat their dog like their road and their house. Thank you, Michelle. Rocco can’t wait to see you again.

Lauren is phenomenal! She did an excellent job with our timid rescue dog. He immediately took to her. She was loving, playful, gentle and communicative. It was a relief to know our sweet boy was being so well loved while we enjoyed some time with the family. I would highly recommend Lauren, without any hesitation.

Brittney was amazing with our 11 week old puppy. I was so nervous about leaving him due to a work event, but was immediately set at ease with her calm personality and loving demeanor. I got updates and pictures regularly and was able to do what I needed to do for my job while knowing my puppy was safe and loved. Thank you!!!

Kelsey truly went above and beyond while watching my baby girl Lily! She had no issues with administering Lily’s medications and vitamins! She sent plenty of pictures and I booked her for overnights and she was very respectful of the space! She treated Lily just as her own and I would definitely have her again watching over my heart on four paws! Thank you Kelsey!

We could not be more pleased. Davin was really patient with Penny, our senior German shepherd rescue. He regularly texted updates to let us know how things were going. He’s super responsible and kind. We’ll definitely ask for Davin again. When we got home after two weeks away Penny was calm — none of the stress I would expect from kenneling. What a find! I highly recommend Davin—the fact that he is studying to be a vet tech is a big plus.

FAQs for House Sitting - Placentia
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Placentia on Rover is $59.57 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 12,766 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Placentia. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Placentia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Placentia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Placentia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Placentia. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
