We have a very active 60 lb. dog who requires a daily hike. Tina took Hazel out for an hour each day, and when it proved too hot in the afternoon she switched to mornings. She followed all of our requests and Hazel really liked Tina. She (Tina, not Hazel) left the house clean and tidy. We have already made arrangements to hire Tina again. We recommend her wholeheartedly.

Ashley was a great sitter for Lucy. She was very polite and gentle. Her communication skills are excellent. This was the first time Ashley took care of Lucy and Lucy was settled in with her very quickly. I would definitely ask Ashly to house sit Lucy again and would highly recommend her for other pet parents.

Lena is amazing. Kind, responsible, responsive, exact, caring, gentle, honest, capable, safe…all the characteristics you need and want in a furbaby sitter. She stayed in my home with my furchild, Summer, sent pictures and videos often, followed my detailed, and particular, directions exactly, and most importantly, Summer loves her!! Lena made my time away from Summer bearable. Will request Lena again soon, and without reservation.

Jacqueline is a very soft-spoken and kind lady who took care of our Nutella at our home for a little over two days. Our cat was very well cared for and we received multiple daily photos showing her activity, making us feel very comfortable about having left our cat in Jacqueline's care. She also took very good care of the home. We are very happy with the help Jacqueline gave us in caring for our cat when we were away and will easily consider her for the next time we have a similar need !

Jade did a great job of taking care of our dog, Lily, while we were on vacation out of the country. She was very responsive and sent us pictures daily. She left our home in great condition as well. Our pup was excited to see us when we returned, but not overly excited, which made it clear that she was well taken care of and well entertained while we were gone. We would definitely recommend Jade to other pet owners and plan to hire her again in the future!

I should say they are the worst dog sitters ever because we want them all to ourselves!!! Our dogs ABSOLUTELY LOVE their Auntie Chelsea and Uncle Richard. We recently adopted a dog who is usually a little skittish…but not with her Auntie and Uncle. They love them like their own..Cuddles and pets and lots of spoils! They should get a 10 start…5 isn’t enough!

Bonus, she is a great pet photographer and we received several frame-worthy photos and really fun videos while we were away. Highly recommend.

About: I’ve helped friend and family with dog sitting since I was young, watching dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs. I’ve mostly worked with dogs and small rodents and I love them all like my own 🩵 I’m currently a student and have a lot of extra time on my hands to get out and about with your pets. I am most available on weekends but weekdays I’m available all mornings and most afternoons and all evenings except Wednesdays. I work with what I’m given and always make it work. I strive to give fur babies all the attention they need and get out any excess energy before finishing a walk.

About: I have years of hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats and more, including two years at an animal clinic where I administered medications, handled feeding, cleaning, and made sure pets felt safe and comfortable. I’ve also worked as a dog pack walker, managed group walks, and provided pet sitting, house sitting, and drop-in visits. I understand animal behavior and take a calm, attentive approach—caring for pets isn’t just what I do, it’s my passion, and I treat every animal like my own. I am working full time, but available in the evenings or for walks and on the weekends I can do check ins and walks! I’m more than happy to take your baby on a short or a looong walk. In your home, I provide respectful, compassionate care while honoring your space and privacy. I follow your pet’s routine closely to keep things familiar and stress-free, and I treat your home with the same care and professionalism as I do your pets. I’m clean, reliable, and attentive, making sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well-loved while you’re away.

About: I've taken care of people's animals since I was 10 years old, whether it's paid or unpaid. I've cared for them and love them as my own. I'm currently studying for the Asvab to join the Army online, but that also means that I'm free all the time unless I'm booked for another client. I can provide a safe shelter for your pets. I can easily crate them if needed. I have a fenced, big yard they could play. I prefer pet-sitting them in my client's home so that they can feel comfortable and safe in a familiar environment.

About: Hello, my name is Maira and I’m a life long animal lover. I’ve had all kinds of pets and cared for everything from turtles to fish, hamsters and birds, a rabbit, cats and dogs. Although I love all animals, Dogs are where my heart melts! I’ve taken care of friend’s dogs as well as helped friends and family basic train their small and large breed dogs. I have 10+ years of experience with dogs of all sizes and ages including my 90lb high energy Doberman which taught me a lot. If you remember one thing from my page I hope it’s this; I will take care of your furry babies as if they were my own. Monday through Friday I am available 6:30am - 6:30pm to care for your furry family. Saturdays and Sundays I am available 7:00am -7:00pm. If you need me outside of this time frame please let me know. During a drop in visit, I let your fur child out for a potty break and ensure they have plenty of water, food, and treats (if you okay the treats before hand) then hang out, play, and love on them for the remainder of the 30mins. During a walk booking, I will pick up your dog for a walk around the neighborhood. Which can be part structural and part sniffing to mentally stimulate and not just physically work out. The goal is a happy healthy pupper (and yes a 10 y/o is still a pupper) you will receive photos of our adventures and a message informing you how your baby’s walk went. Rain or Shine! Your Dog’s safety is my top priority. If it’s too hot or it is raining we will alter our walks with either a rain jacket or walking indoors at a near by pet friendly store. I am prepared with towels, plenty of water and a pet first aid kit should we ever need anything.

We went out of state for 5 days and had never left our cat so I was wanting someone at the house with her and so the house would not be vacant - We were very happy with Kelsey! She came over to meet with us first and we really liked her. She took good care of our cat, fish and even the outside animals / birds as I requested which meant a lot to me (not a typical request but she was great about it!) We loved how she asked questions when she had any via text. She also sent us a lot of pictures which was great! We recommend Kelsey!

Ryan is simply wonderful. He stayed with our dog and cat for 6 days. He immediately became friends with our dog (and she’s quite a handful). Our cat didn’t accept him right away, but he wasn’t put off and found an approach with her - and after just 2 days they were already best friends. He always sent us photo updates and wrote about how the animals were doing. We can see that our pets didn’t miss us at all while Ryan was with them. He’s now number one on our list of pet sitters. Thank you so much.

Whitney is simply wonderful, and an amazing house and cat sitter. Our original sitter had to cancel a few days before leaving on a trip, and we were incredibly fortunate to find Whitney. She is very punctual, and kept our kitty’s schedule and routine going smoothly while we were away. She is great at communicating, letting us know when she first arrived and with daily updates and pictures. Her care for our home and especially for our kitty put us at ease while we were away. She is very neat and tidy and went above and beyond cleaning before she left and we arrived back home. Thank you kindly Whitney for spending the week with our kitty! Highly Recommend Jackie! Jackie was absolutely fantastic with our two dogs! From our very first meet-and-greet, she was incredibly conscientious—taking detailed notes about their schedules and asking thoughtful questions to ensure they received the exact care they needed. She provided regular daily updates, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Both dogs were wonderfully cared for, but what impressed us most was how she handled our more anxious pup. She usually gets very stressed when the family leaves, but she was completely relaxed, happy, and at ease with Jackie. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

FAQs for House Sitting - Placentia

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Placentia on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 12,641 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Placentia. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Placentia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Placentia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Placentia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Placentia. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
