AnaBeth did an excellent job watching my cat, Greta. She communicated frequently so I was up to date on how Greta was doing. Every visit included lots of pictures, which I loved! I came home to a happy kitty and a clean home. I will definitely be using AnaBeth for future pet-sitting :)

About: Hi! I’m Elizabeth, a lifelong animal lover based in the Pittsburgh area. I understand that pets are family, and when you leave them with someone else you want the same care, attention, and safety you’d give them yourself. I spent 13 years with my sweet mini poodle mix Theo, who taught me how much love and personality can live in one small dog. Because of him, I’m especially attentive to each pet’s unique quirks, routines, and comfort needs. Whether your dog loves long walks, couch snuggles, or a consistent routine, I’m happy to adapt to what makes them feel most at home. I’m dependable, communicative, and I’ll send regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. Your pet will be treated with the same patience, kindness, and care I would want for my own. I currently work from home and have complete flexibility with my job to ensure your pet gets as much attention, walks, and love throughout the day as they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow your pet’s routine closely, provide a calm environment, and ensure they are always supervised, secure, and well cared for. I will always send you updates and let you know what we are up to on our days together.

About: I’ve taken care of neighborhood dogs and cats since I was 12. In May of 2020, I got my first puppy and crate-trained and have taken care of her since. I love cats and dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities! I am currently working for the city government, so I have a very reliable 9-5 schedule. I am largely free outside of that and can’t wait to spend time with your pets! I currently do not offer services in my home. In your home, I am happy to take care of your pet in any way they need!

About: Hi there! I'm Krista, your friendly neighborhood pet lover. Growing up, I was surrounded by a menagerie of animals and it instilled in me a deep love and understanding for our furry friends. My childhood days were spent amidst the soothing moo of cows and the playful scamper of countless paws. From the tiniest kittens to the grandest horses, I've cared for them all. At home, I'm the proud parent of four dogs who bring boundless joy to my life. Each with a unique personality, they've taught me the art of patience, the joy of companionship, and the significance of a good belly rub. I’ve also been a foster parent to a quite a few pups. Preparing them to go off to their forever home is a very rewarding experience. Whether it's a spirited game of fetch, a fun training secession or a lazy afternoon cuddle, our days are always filled happiness. With a wealth of experience in handling animals, I am well-versed in the diverse needs and quirks of our beloved pets and I approach each furry friend with the care and attention they deserve. Currently, I am the owner/operator of a pet supply + dog friendly lounge in Downtown Pittsburgh. For Doggy day care, your pup will be hanging with me at the shop, meeting all the people and pups that stop by. Feel free to reach out for a meet-and-greet or to discuss the specific needs of you and your pets! I am the owner/operator of a pet supply and dog lounge. I am here Monday - Saturday and will spend the entire time with your pup here. Every situation and dog are unique. I want to get to know your pups quirks so we can do whatever makes the most sense to keep everyone comfortable and stress-free

About: I grew up with pets (both cats and dogs) and have always loved being around and caring for animals. I worked as an animal care associate at the Humane Society of Chittenden County in Burlington, VT, where I learned safe handling techniques, gained medical knowledge, and cared for a wide variety of breeds and behavioral cases. I have extensive experience with cats, dogs, and smallies of all shapes and sizes and would love to help care for yours. I have a flexible schedule which leaves me plenty of time to walk and play with fur babies. I do have a part time job so I will need to leave occasionally when I am housesitting. I also don't mind commuting to care for an animal. I live in a lovely neighborhood for walking and am also able to drive dogs to nearby parks and hiking trails to play and exercise. I have a cat at home who dislikes other animals so I would only be able to provide care at a client's home.

Alexis was the best sitter we’ve used on this app! She was super communicative and took the best care of Millie with fun updates of her mornings and nights. Alexis even figured out a partial refund for her not being able to make it due to severe snow. I would 1000% recommend Alexis as a sitter and we will be absolutely be using her again!

About: Tam is an experienced pet parent and sitter who is familiar with caring for young and elder pets who may need special care and/or medications. I myself have five dogs, all of whom have medical needs, two house kitties, and two house bunnies. I am lucky enough to have a spouse who is able to care for my Squad while I am able to help care for yours. I currently work full-time Monday - Friday and I work from home on Mondays and Fridays. I am available to care for pets throughout the week and weekends, as long as he/she is able to be along on T, W, R until I return home in the early evening. I am unable to care for pets in my own home due to having my own pets who do not always interact well with strangers.

About: I love to go on long walks/runs with pups as well as hang out with them afterwards. Whether that is petting/scratching/cuddling with them if they are people-pets or reading with and sitting near them if they prefer a little distance. I have experience pet-sitting for dogs, cats, chickens, fish, plants, and snakes, though I prefer homes with no birds if possible. I had a dog and a cat while growing up, and visit my family's dog, cat, and fish as frequently as possible! I work a typical day job, and if you and your pet live near my office I can stop by during the day for a short walk and potty break with a longer walk before and/or after the traditional work day as well.

About: As someone who has hired many pet sitters myself, I know exactly what it takes to give an owner total peace of mind: immaculate communication, unwavering reliability, and putting safety above all else. I have extensive experience caring for dogs (and cats) at every stage of life. Whether it’s keeping an energetic puppy calm and safe after a spay/neuter procedure, or providing gentle, attentive care to a sweet senior, your pet is in expert hands. Why we’ll get along great: Medical & Post-Op Experience: Fully comfortable managing medications and post-surgery recovery restrictions. Love for Long Walks: I regularly exercise my "doggy nephews," and long, stimulating walks are one of my absolute favorite hobbies. Tailored Communication: I communicate exactly the way you want—whether that means frequent photo updates, quick text check-ins, or a detailed summary at the end of the day. Safety First: Your dog's well-being and the security of your home are always my top priorities. I work a standard full-time job, meaning your dog or cat will have my undivided attention during peak prime times! My availability includes: Weekdays: Before 9:00 AM & after 5:00 PM Weekends & Overnights: Fully available! Your Home, Your Rules: Safety is My Priority I fully respect and abide by all the household and safety rules you have in place. I am incredibly meticulous and will always ensure your home is left exactly as you want it. Here is how I keep your pets secure: For Dogs: Whether they use a fenced yard or require a leashed walk, I double-check that they are fully secure. If they use a crate, I ensure they are safely tucked in and the latch is completely locked. For Cats: I keep a sharp eye out for curious kitties to make sure they can't get into any hidden hazards. For Your Home: I am extremely detail-oriented—everything will be kept in its right spot!

Heather is very patient and considered all the instructions we had for her thoughtfully. Our dog needs some time to warm up to strangers and Heather accommodated for that. We went for a couple of walks together and had her over as well before we booked our first check-in. Now our dog is starting to get happily excited when he sees her. She's easy to communicate with and we're very happy with how everything went. Looking forward to booking her services again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Sitting in Pittsburgh on Rover is $18.61 per visit (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,622 sitters on Rover offering Dog Sitting across Pittsburgh. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Pittsburgh stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pittsburgh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in Pittsburgh with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Pittsburgh. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
