“Greyson had a great time with Elspeth and her two pups. Elspeth was very accommodating with Greyson's needs and schedule and ensured he was well taken care of. We had a positive experience.”

“Jessica and John were wonderful. We have never left our sweet Flynn with anyone besides my Dad. However, my Dad was unable to keep Flynn for this 7 day vacation. Flynn was so well taken care of and I felt 100% comfortable leaving Flynn with Jessica and John. They sent me messages, pictures and videos throughout our trip, which I loved. I feel like Flynn was treated like family. I would definitely recommend and use them again. Love. Love. Love 💕”

“First time using Rover and we were lucky to choose Rene. She took wonderful care of Cooper. Sent daily updates and pictures. Will definitely use Rene in the future.”

About: Have watched family and friends’ dogs in my home for years. Currently have 2 family dogs of different sizes and ages. Range of experience. Lots of walking, playtime and snuggles. I’m home during the day and can adjust my daily schedule to the needs of the dog. My kids are in school during the day so it’s quiet during the day. I have a fenced in yard with room for dogs to play and take care of business. I have 2 dogs at home so your dog will never be alone. My kids and younger dog loves to play. The neighborhood is full of walking paths for walks.
About: I’ve loved and cared for dogs for many years and currently have two senior dogs of my own, so I understand the patience, attention, and consistency pets need to feel comfortable and safe. I have experience with different personalities, energy levels, routines, and the extra care that comes with older dogs. I’m dependable, attentive, and will treat your pets and home with the same care and respect I give my own. I know how important it is to have someone you trust caring for your pets while you’re away, and I’ll make sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and companionship. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to give pets plenty of time, attention, and companionship throughout the day. I’m available for house sitting, drop-in visits, and walks on both weekdays and weekends. I’m happy to follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and bedtime routines. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding, medications, walks, routines, and household rules. I take time to learn each pet’s personality and respect their boundaries, especially with senior, shy, or anxious pets. When staying in a client’s home, I’m respectful of their space, keep the home secure, and provide regular updates so owners can feel comfortable while they’re away.
“As always, Kuzco had the time od his life with Rachel and Jason. They're so good with him, it allows me to breath a little easier as a first time pawrent. Thank you!”

“I couldn't be happier with the level of care Linda and her family provided to my senior yellow lab! She provided regular updates while I was away and knew exactly how to best care for a senior lab. Don't hesitate to ask Linda to take care of your pup! You'll be happy you did!”

About: Note - I go by the name ‘Happy’. I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 15. I am always the one that takes care of my family and friend’s pets when they go on vacation because they know the dog will be safe and loved. I have a large, fenced in backyard for running daily exercise. Since I work from home, I will only be away from the dogs for a max of 6 hours when I do go out. I work from home and my favorite thing is to keep the dogs around me when I am in my office all day. When I do go out, it would be max 6 hours on the weekends. I have a big fenced yard for running around. I like to throw a bal around for dogs if they play fetch. I do not currently have my own dog (she passed a couple years ago at 14yo) so I would just be with yours.

“Jennifer did such a great job taking care of my boy Franklin! She welcomed him into her home and said she loved having him there--Franklin will definitely be staying there again!”

“I have elderly chihuahuas and if you know anything about the breed they get worse in temperament, as they get older. I choose Kaye when reviewing her profile and seeing her experience and the chihuahuas surprisingly cuddled up with her and interacting with her family and other dogs. She’s great in conversation and keeping up to date.”

About: I recently lost my 14-year old bulldog and I am looking to reconnect with dogs before committing to another long term companion. I have experience with senior dog care, to include dogs with cancer and dementia. I work full-time from home. During the day, I would be able to offer 2 15 -minute bathroom visits/walks during my breaks from work. I also have flexibility when other needs arise. In the evenings, I am free to give your dog as much love and attention as they desire. I only accept 1 dog at a time (unless multiple dogs are from the same owner and the dogs are pair bonded). I was single handedly responsible for my own dog for 11 years before she died of old age, so I know what it takes to compassionately care for a dog. I have also watched my friends’ dogs and my parent’s dog for weeks at a time. Taking care of dogs is not a new experience for me. I work from home and have complete control over the flexibility of my schedule. I can take breaks from my work to attend to your dogs needs 2 times per day during my 15-minute breaks. I am free evenings. I can also use my breaks to give walks/pet stop-ins if within close proximity to my house. I am willing to take care of dogs who prefer free play in a fenced in yard or those that prefer longer leash walks or park outings. I have no problem with free roam in the house or crating, whichever fits best with the dog’s regular routine. I have a big fenced in back yard and live in a neighborhood with sidewalks and a park 1 block away. I also have a good relationship with a local vet in case of emergencies.
“Chrissy is amazing! This was my first time using Rover, and I was concerned about boarding my puppy after a procedure. However, she quickly alleviated any worries and followed care instructions impeccably. I also appreciated the frequent updates.”

“Ameneh took great care of our Shiba Inu! She did a great job feeding him his seizure medication each day. She also gave detailed updates on his well being and what activities he did each day as well as several pictures. Thanks again for a great stay!”

“Zlatka took care of Mr. Blu May 8th-11th. What a wonderful person! It was love at first sight for my dog Mr. Blu he bonded with her immediately. I knew then she was the right sitter for Mr. Blu. Zlatka is very kind and caring and is very knowledgeble of handling a dog. Mr. Blu is a little anxious but Zlatka's demeanor calmed him and he became so relaxed. It was the sound of her voice. I was so thrilled to know that I could enjoy my vacation and not worry about him. Mr. Blu is a major part of our family. I received photos of their walks. He looked happy & enjoyed being with her. I recommend her 1000 %. The best part is she was close by my home. She's #1 on my list if I need a dog sitter again. Mr. Blu & I thank you Zlatka!”

“Soumen is amazing! It was my first time having Nala stay with him and his family. She was treated like one of their own, sent pictures and communicated perfectly. If Soumen is available to watch your dog they are lucky to be in such great hands. Thank you for going above and beyond to care for my baby and to make me feel comfortable leaving her in such caring hands. I watch dogs for a living and Soumen is who I go to when I need someone to watch Nala! Thank you!!”

“Jaxon, his dogs, and his family were great. Bonnie has sensitive skin and it needs to be looked after and they did a good job. She seemed happy to be there. He sent pics and videos from time to time and was quick to respond. I would absolutely have her join this family again!”

Glenn is amazing! He took wonderful care of Ovi and made the entire experience stress-free. He is friendly, thoughtful, and genuinely cares about the pets he watches. He is always responsive to messages, provides updates, and is ready to help whenever needed. Glenn creates a true home-away-from-home environment, and I felt completely comfortable leaving Ovi in his care. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter.

Oakley and Navea had an amazing stay with Dan over Christmas. I could tell they got tons of exercise because they were happily worn out when I picked them up. Dan was very friendly, kept us updated, and was flexible with our schedule. Highly recommend—would definitely book again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
