“I was a first time boarder and Kathleen and her family helped me and my pup to be at ease in this new space. The photos and updates throughout the stay were amazing. I can definitely see that my dog felt comfortable and welcome. I will definitely return as a customer.”

“Nat & Ally were amazing. We felt so comfortable leaving our baby June (an 80lb bernadoodle) with them. They sent pictures everyday that made us so happy to see how much love they were showing her. We will definately be repeat customers. Thank you so much Nat & Ally”

“Apollo had a lovely time staying with Sriju! She has such a peaceful, calm spirit and a cozy home. Apollo felt comfortable right away. Sriju’s house is located on a corner with a large yard next to it and there is a playground and dog park close by. We feel lucky to have found her!”

“Annette is truly an amazing dog host. She knows animal behavior so well. Her own pets are wonderful and our dog loved visiting as a guest. She is an expert with regard to introducing pets to one another. I wish he could go on a mini-vacation once a week!”

“Highly recommend- they updated us often with pictures of our pups, they have a nice outside area for the dogs to run around in. They were very flexible when our return flight got cancelled and we had to adjust our travel plans.”

“I left my baby girl for a week with John and they were the best. They really took a great care of my baby and gave constant updates with pictures and videos. They answered any questions I had. I could enjoy my vacation cause I could trust them with coco. I would definitely recommend them.”

“Mindy was so sweet and caring while I was on a trip for 3 days. She shared pictures of Toro daily that assured me Toro is having fun while I am gone. She was super responsive as well. Toro came home with a goody bag with some toys and even her paw print on canvas! The place was clean and organized where is safe for pups and I would love to recommend Mindy for your puppy!”

“Ameneh took great care of our Shiba Inu! She did a great job feeding him his seizure medication each day. She also gave detailed updates on his well being and what activities he did each day as well as several pictures. Thanks again for a great stay!”

“Gisselle and family are amazing! She is very attentive and loving. We already have her booked for two more stays. From the moment we dropped him off, she was loving and relaxed, so we knew she was able to handle our little man with issues. It gave us peace of mind that he was safe and happy, so we can enjoy our time away.”

“Our experience w/ Dan’s boarding was fantastic. We came from Chicago for family time where a 94pnd 3 year old German Shepard would not be having fun. Booking w/ Dan was easy, great communication and just a relief to meet him, tour the beautiful land they have. Instantly knew our girl would be just fine and she so was all dog smiles! Thank you Dan and we will see you again next trip or after….. Respectfully, Erica, Nancy, & Hendrix”

“Rong was fantastic! She communicated regularly and Ralphie came home happy. I can’t ask for much more than that! Her dog, Lucky, is also a sweetheart and made a good companion for my dog.”

“both of our dogs seemed well cared for. His property has plenty of space for the dogs to run and he took them for walks in the woods, which I’m sure they enjoyed. I would consider boarding our dogs with him again.”

“Raghavi and her family were AMAZING!!! It was my first time booking a pet sitter, so I didn't really know what to expect, but I got so lucky! Raghavi let me do a little meet-and-greet before I even booked to make sure that Ryder was comfortable with her dog, which put me so at ease, and during the boarding itself, was so accommodating with Ryder's schedule (and went above and beyond by sending me lots of photos while I was away, which was such an unexpected but very nice and much appreciated surprise!) She was so easy to get in touch with, and when I needed an emergency extra couple of days covered, she was so flexible and easygoing about it. Definitely booking again!!! :)”

“I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Edward and Natalia. We had a meet and greet a week prior where they asked a lot of questions and observed Ralphie with their sweet pup, Liz Lemon. I always worry leaving Ralphie with a new Rover. He has been described as “extra” and needs a lot of attention/human presence. Within an hour of dropping him off, I got a note that he is settling in fine with a picture of him cozied up with the family and this eased my mind immensely. They were very responsive when I reached out and had everything ready to go when I picked him up. The biggest testament, however, is Ralphie’s behavior on the drive home. If let’s me know if he didn’t like his stay somewhere, but leaving Natalia and Edward he was calm and well behaved. They deserve this 5-star review and j would recommend them to my friends and family without hesitation.”

“They were very accommodating to a last minute request! The communication was fantastic and thorough. We got a lot of great pics. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely use them again in the future.”

“Awesome and lovely dog loving family. Knight had a great time. I appreciate their flexibility and accommodations when I had a delayed travel flight departure, that affected my pick-up time.”

“Gena did a wonderful job watching after Oatmeal! She provided amazing communication throughout the entire time, from our initial Meet and Greet to pick up. The daily updates and pictures Gena provided really put us at ease as this was the first time we boarded Oatmeal. We also really appreciated Gena requesting detailed care instructions. We would definitely recommend Gena for pet care!”

“Sammy had so much fun with Gail and Kris! She went on long nature walks, sniffed a lot of geese and ducks, watched birds and squirrels, and played with them at home when the weather is not so great. We trust the Spare Hoomans to give the best care for our pup. They always send up pictures and video updates of how they’re doing. We were super comfortable having them care for her during our long trip.”

“Christopher took excellent care of Oslo! He made sure Oslo stayed active and had plenty of playtime and it was clear he was having so much fun. I really appreciated all the picture updates throughout the day, it gave me peace of mind knowing he was in great hands. I would definitely recommend Christopher to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter.”

We had a great experience with Rebecca! She took wonderful care of our Labrador, Lexi, over a busy holiday weekend, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. She was reliable, communicative, and made sure Lexi was well cared for the entire time. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the pets she watches. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
