“Clean house, secure backyard, and updated photos of my wonderful pet!! What else could I ask for? Michelle was a wonderful host who made my pet (and me) feel safe and calm. From the photos, my Mila felt right at home. To end Mila's visit, she was given a "to go" gift bag from this super host. I will definitely be using her again!”

“Alissa and her fiancé are very sweet & kind. Such a welcoming & safe home. They were very attentive to my dog’s needs and even with other pups that were there, they made sure mine were taken care of properly. She has a great set up to separate any feedings, go out at any time if needed. They were happy overall! I will definitely have them watch them again in the future!”

“We had an amazing experience with our dog sitter, Samantha! She took such great care of our dog, Nugget, while we were away. She kept us updated with regular messages and the cutest pictures, which really put our minds at ease. It was clear that Nugget was having a great time—he went on plenty of walks and got to play outside often, which he absolutely loves. We could tell he was happy, well cared for, and in very good hands. Thank you so much for treating Nugget like family! We highly recommend her and would definitely book again.”

“Always amazing and I am truly grateful for you. Mia LOVES you so much. She’s been sleeping since she got home from how busy she is at your house. I thank you so much for taking such great care of my pup. ♥️”

“I recently boarded my 5 month puppy with Juliana. This was my first time boarding my puppy so was very nervous but Juliana was very kind, professional and caring. She sent daily photo/text updates and Coco seemed to have a lot of fun with her and her family! I felt very comfortable about leaving Coco with her. Will definitely rebook in the future! 🐶😊”

“Wendy took excellent care of my dog. She tailored her care depending on his individual needs. Jasper was calm and happy when I picked him up. What a great experience. Thank you.”

“Booked Vanessa last minute, and we are so happy we found her. She sent us lots of videos and photos throughout our dog’s stay, which gave us peace of mind. She made sure our puppy got plenty of playtime and attention. She was very kind and also flexible when we picked up our puppy 2 hours later than the scheduled pickup time. We would definitely book her again.”

“My husband and I booked a much-needed vacation. We were very apprehensive about leaving our two senior dogs (Bella and Stella) with anyone. They require special care due to their age and the fact that they are rescues. We met with Pam before our trip and found her to be very pleasant, caring, and a wonderful dog mom. Our first impression of Pam was reinforced during our trip by the quality care that she gave our fur babies. She consistently sent us videos and kept us updated. We could see that they were very well taken care of and this enabled us to enjoy our vacation. Bella and Stella had a wonderful time and weren't in any rush to leave Pam. We will definitely, reach out to Pam again in the future!!!”

“I am so thankful Charlie was available for a last minute booking/ boarding for our dog, Bibi. After communicating our needs, we knew Charlie was a great fit. Our dog felt right at home, and Charlie communicated frequently throughout her time there, including sending picture and video updates unprompted. We would love the opportunity to re-book with Charlie in the future.”

About: I am an experienced dog owner who spent the last 15 years caring for two dogs. I experienced it all from puppy to elderly. I am currently without a dog and would love to share that experience with your furry friends. I’m currently working from home full time. Leaving me plenty of time for walks and play time. I would love to have the company of a dog throughout the day. I will be home with your dog(s) and they can hang in the house with me. When it’s time to go out we can walk and we have a yard for your dog(s) to enjoy. It’s not fenced in but we do have long cords to hook them to so they don’t wonder off.

“Anna went above and beyond the call of duty for myself and my dog. The retractable leash I provided broke on one of her walks and without hesitation she went out to get another leash for future walks. My flight coming back was delayed and she stayed up late for me to arrive to pick up. She checked in everyday with updates and photos on how things were going. Anna was super tentative and detail oriented with my pets routine and needs. She made the experience for myself and my pet very comforting and assuring throughout the duration of the stay. If you're looking for a genuinely good hearted and trustworthy sitter then Anna is for you. I would recommend her to anybody.”

“Brandon and Ruth-Ann did awesome! Just to give background I’m shipping my dogs overseas and me and my family had to leave before the dogs. They went above and beyond and made sure they got to their flight in time with everything they needed. They were very friendly and flexible 10/10!”

“I left my Frenchie with Glaelle while qeAlthough we was nervous when we left, I can tell through the videos and pictures we were sent practically everyday, Louie was having fun with the other dog there. We returned with him in positive spirits and just as chunkie as could be. Thanks so much!”

“OMG! Vanessa is such a wonderful sitter, she made us feel so comfortable leaving our puppy baby Givi with her while we were on vacation. She kept us updated everyday with pictures and videos. We were at ease knowing he had the upmost care from Vanessa. She is amazing, such a sweet person, our baby loved her very much as well, he looked like he wanted to stay Lol. We highly recommend her to anyone who wants their baby puppy to be well cared for. We will definitely take our baby to Vanessa again. So happy we found her! We Love Her!!!!”

“Great experience with Grace. She has a fenced backyard that the dogs can play in. She provides daily picture updates and tells u how your dog is doing. Very accommodating to any requests. Would definitely book again!”

“Keoma is the best of the best! I am not an avid Rover user as I’ve luckily maintained a large friend group who will care for my dog, Stan. As a result, I was a little nervous to leave him with a Rover for a long period of time but trusted in Keoma’s wide array of overly positive reviews. I was not disappointed - Keoma met with me prior to the stay, talked me through the process and cared for my boy so well! Stan returned so happy and playful, it was clear he had the best time in her care. Pictures and texts about his well being were constant so any anxiety I had going in was eased. I will 1000% be using Keoma in the future - and I know Stan can’t wait to be with her too. Thank you Keoma!”

“Ilona was Great with Glitter! She took us last minute after another sitter cancel. Glitter had a lot of fun and made a lot of new. Friends. Ilona knows her stuff how to introduce her and get comfortable. I'm super happy with her service and will highly recommend.”

“Qin En took good care of my cat Echo while I was out of town. She sent me multiple pictures/videos a day so I can enjoy my vacation while making sure my cat is doing well. She genuinely loves cats and actually any animals! 😂 highly recommend 😊”

About: I’ve loved dogs for most of my life. I grew up with a family dog beginning at age 10, and I most recently cared for my own pet Lucy until 2023. These experiences taught me the importance of daily care, consistency, patience, and creating a loving routine where dogs feel safe and comfortable. What sets me apart is that I provide a calm, family-oriented home and take care of only ONE dog at a time. This allows me to give each dog my full attention, maintain their routine closely, and ensure a low-stress environment without the overwhelm of multiple pets. As a parent, I am organized, dependable, and very attentive to safety and structure. I understand how important it is to follow instructions exactly—from feeding schedules and walks to medications and comfort routines. I treat every dog as part of my family while they are in my care, and I provide regular photo and message updates so owners feel connected and reassured while away. My goal is to offer the same level of care and peace of mind that I would want for my own dog. I am a family-based home, and pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. Because I only accept one dog at a time, I am able to fully integrate your furry baby into my home life and provide consistent attention throughout the day. My schedule is structured around being at home. This allows for regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, feeding on schedule, and plenty of supervision and companionship. Dogs in my care will not be left alone for long periods of time ever. If I do need to step out briefly, it is typically for very short errands, and I ensure dogs are safe, comfortable, and settled before leaving. My home environment is predictable, which helps dogs adjust quickly and feel secure. I treat each dog as part of my daily rhythm—whether that’s quiet time, walks, or simply relaxing with the family. Safety is my top priority when caring for pets in my home. I provide a calm, structured, and family-oriented environment where your dog is closely supervised and treated as part of my family daily routine. Because I only accept one dog at a time, I am able to give full attention to your furry baby and closely monitor their behavior, comfort level, and needs throughout their stay. This also allows me to maintain a low-stress environment without overcrowding or unfamiliar animal interactions. Your dog is always kept in safe, comfortable areas of the home and is never left unsupervised with children. All interactions are closely monitored to ensure both the dog and our family are safe and comfortable. I follow each owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, walk routines, medication instructions, and any behavioral notes. I always ensure fresh water is available, regular potty breaks are provided, and exercise is appropriate for the dog’s age and energy level. When outside, your dog is kept on leash unless in a secure, enclosed area. I never take risks with off-leash exposure or unsafe environments. I also maintain open communication with owners at all times and provide regular photos and updates. *** Safety & and a premium experience are extremely important. I accept only well-socialized, friendly dogs who are comfortable in a home environment with children.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New Hyde Park
We had a great experience with Von Marie & Steven. Before Leia’s stay, they came over with their dog, River, so the dogs could meet and make sure everyone got along. I really appreciated them taking the time to do that. While we were away, they sent plenty of photos and updates, so we always knew how Leia was doing. They were easy to communicate with, reliable, and we felt completely comfortable leaving Leia in their care. We’d happily book with them again and definitely recommend them.

Grace is a thoughtful sitter. I felt safe to have left my fur buddy with her for a longer stay. During that stay my pet got sick and Grace was fully involved and did everything necessary to get the care it needed. She was also proactively communicating thought the emergency. I’m glad that my pet was in her hands when this happened. I fully recommend her services. Thank you Grace!

Tanu is great! She took good care of our 6 year old Ace for a day. She loves your pet like it’s her own. Ace is picky with his eating habits and spoiled I should say, but she was very concerned when he skipped his meal. She followed all our instructions and sent us pictures of Ace more often than we expected. He was very happy at her place. I would use her services again without any hesitation and would recommend her to anyone who is looking for an excellent sitter for their furry. Thank you so much Tanu for taking care of Ace!

Another great vacation for Frodo with Britany - she’s the best! She sent daily photos and videos without me even having to ask, and I never worried about Frodo during his stay. He looked like he was having the best time, and I honestly don’t think he wanted to leave when we picked him up! We can’t wait for Frodo to stay with her again in the future.

Kara was an absolute joy to work with. From the initial meet-and-greet to the thoughtful pictures and updates she sent throughout the stay, she made the entire experience stress-free and reassuring. Knowing my pet was safe and well cared for gave me complete peace of mind. She was definitely the right choice, and I will certainly book with her again!
An excellent experience. I was comfortable on vacation knowing my baby was in great hands. I got a picture of my Stormi☔️ everyday. She looked happy romping around the huge backyard. When I went to pick her up she wanted to stay. That’s the best sign of a great time.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
