“Joyce was able to take Schuyler for a week on short notice. We got pictures and updates, and Schuyler came back super happy. A very enjoyable experience, Joyce will be our first choice next time we need to board Schuyler.”

“Gisel and her family took great care of my girl Kola. Kola had a case of severely itchy paws pop up the day before we were set to leave town. I was able to get some meds from the vet before we left. I let Gisel know what was going on with Kola, as she was licking and chewing her paws and they were very red. I kept socks on her paws and gave her Benadryl in between the meds from the vet. Gisel also kept this up for the four days Kola stayed with her family. I was so thankful and appreciative of the extra care Gisel and her family gave Kola. Kola’s itchy paws popped up so last minute and Gisel assured me she would take great care of her and she did just that! I would definitely use Gisel again for Kola!”

“Aida sent pictures daily and made sweet observations about our pup, letting me know she sees him for who he is! She showed enormous patience and understanding. Will definitely rebook!”

“Never boarded a pet before, but I left my Xander there and they treated him wonderfully! He even got a cat tree to play on, which I don’t even have! Highly recommend!”

“Corbin and Shah took amazing care of our dog, Dora! Dora takes a daily medication and they had no problem giving it to her. She was well cared for and they made her feel right at home!”

“Meagan, Chris, and pups, Butter, and Lucy took great care of Ozzie. Ozzie does not always warm up to strangers immediately but felt at home with them burrowing under their blankets and sleeping in their pup beds. They provided daily report of Ozzie antics and photos keeping me posted. Meagan really loved Ozzie and animals in general, and adjust to them easily. It was evident Ozzie enjoyed his staycation. We will definitely board Ozzie at their place in the future.”

“Elizabeth was awesome. She sent numerous pictures of our dog during the long vacation. Our dog was clearly comfortable and relaxed when we picked him up. We will hopefully use Elizabeth next month!!!”

“Meredith is the best! Ollie felt immediately comfortable with her and had the best time while we were away. Meredith was so easy to communicate with and sent regular updates with pictures and even videos of Ollie playing-I could tell he was so happy. I would highly recommend Meredith to anyone needing a home away from home for your dog!”

“Erin was totally a pleasure and kind person to work with. From scheduling a meet and greet with our Maxx a few weeks before to sending updates with pictures. We never once had to worry about my our baby Maxx while chilling on the beaches in Cancun, Mexico.”

“Emily & Patrick are wonderful pet people! They took great care of Karson while we were away and sent us updates as promised. Karson loved hanging with his new friend Biscuit (Emily & Patrick's dog) too! Highly recommend them!”

“Kaitlyn was amazing. My little doggie daughter loved her and her pups. She sent pictures each day to keep me updated with Coco’s day. Highly recommend Kaitlyn to anyone that wants their pets to be in good, loving and caring hands.”

About: I know how hard it can be to find a trustworthy pet sitter. I've struggled with it myself which is why I want to help others. My two dogs are part of the family and it's always hard leaving them with somebody. Luna our younger dog has anxiety and so we've learned a lot about taking care of a dog with special needs over the years. I work 10 minutes from home so I come home on my lunch every day to let the pups out and to give a mid day treat and I get home by 5:30/6pm in the evenings. I have a fenced in backyard and two dogs(females)to keep your fur baby company. My girls are not crated during the day and have the freedom to lounge on the sofa & play with lots of toys. Your pup is welcome to join them or could be crated if you request.
“Shanikka is very skilled and meeting and greeting. This was my first time and she made me feel really comfortable and providing me with some knowledge and continuation of socialization.”

“Adriane was fantastic! She helped us out when our other sitter had to cancel last minute. Bella seemed so happy with her and her big back yard. We appreciated the pictures and updates.”

“Michelle was absolutely amazing with my baby! She watched her for two nights while I was away on business travel, and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She kept me updated with pictures and videos, responded promptly, and every single picture she sent had my baby smiling! 🥹❤️ I could tell she was safe, happy, and getting plenty of activity and attention. Michelle also had all of my baby’s things organized and ready to go when I arrived for pickup, which I really appreciated. It gave me so much peace of mind being away. I would definitely trust Michelle with my baby again! 🐾💕 Book with her.”

About: Hello, I’ve been boarding and walking dogs for a while now. I love my job. I’m also open to drop ins and short time sittings. I use to have a dog myself for over a year. I’m home full time and can walk/feed/take your dog to potty at any time. I’m open to long boardings and short time sittings, and all walks and drop ins. Plenty of time to play with your pet. I make sure there’s nothing on the floor or in the dog’s reach that can harm them and if there’s a crate, will usually put them there if I’m not going to be around.
“We loved having Gina watch our dog, Camden. She sent lots of pictures and videos which made us feel so comfortable. He’s been sleeping ever since we picked him up so I know he had a great time! Would definitely rebook with her and highly recommend.”

“Connie is amazing! My bunny and dog are both rescues, and my dog is very skiddish with new people. It takes her time to establish trust. She took to Connie immediately! Connie has gone above and beyond with her care. She even helped troubleshoot an a/c problem while I was gone. When I come home, my babies are so content and happy that I think Connie is their vacation! I highly recommend her services.”

I used to get so anxious every time I had to board my dog because she has separation anxiety. I would always worry that she wasn’t eating, sleeping, or adjusting well while I was away. But ever since I found Ian, I feel so much more at ease. Ian's place has a great yard and my dog has made new friends at their house and always seems so happy there! They take such great care of her, and their huge yard is amazing for the dogs to run around and play. You can genuinely feel how much Ian and his wife love and care about the dogs they look after. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing my dog is somewhere she feels safe, comfortable, and loved while I’m away. I’m so grateful I found them and would 10000% trust Ian with my dog again!

This was our first time booking with Theresa, and right off the bat it was for almost 2 weeks while we were on an extended vacation. She took great care of Lucy and Cada, who have very different personalities (and needs, although as far as needs go, they're pretty straightforward). We got regular updates on how they were doing, along with photos. The dogs got a lot of quality outdoor time in the yard! When Lucy experienced a health issue the day before our return, Theresa communicated with us promptly and kept updated on her progress. Thank you for taking good care of our pups! They are well-loved family members and we're happy they were treated as such at your home as well. :)

Samauira was absolutely amazing with Rosie! Even though Rosie isn’t very friendly with other dogs, she went out of her way to make sure Rosie was comfortable by taking her outside during times when there were fewer dogs around. She was so thoughtful, patient, and caring with her. I also loved getting lots of pictures and updates everyday. I would definitely recommend Samauira and would trust her with Rosie again!

Kali was an extraordinary dog sitter for my very very anxious dog. My dog has significant anxiety which can be very difficult to work through but Kali was diligent and kind allowing my nervous pup to ease into a her environment. Kali gave frequent updates, pictures and videos, always asking if there’s anything else she could do to help ease the transition. Within a day my scared pup started to warm up and became inseparable from Kali. Not only did she have to deal with my pups anxiety but my pups eye drop regime! She did everything I asked and more, she exceeded my expectation. I can’t wait to use Kali again, she was amazing with my dog and just a lovely person!

Trishelle was great with my pet. She took him on short notice, when my sitter had an emergency and could not board him. I had a paid vacation already planned. Trishelle agreed to take him in on short notice. I received many pictures and messages on my week away. I have a senior, shy and very temperamental dog. The pictures put me @ ease. When I picked him up, he was well cared for. I can tell Trishelle truly cares for pets. I definitely would recommend her especially for boarding your pets for long periods.

Katie was absolutely amazing with Toby during his 3-week stay. We have previously booked Katie to care for Toby, and we were so happy to have her watch him again. Knowing Toby’s personality and needs, we felt completely at ease leaving him in her care. Toby is a sensitive dog who needs patience, understanding, and a calm environment, and Katie provided exactly that. Her regular updates, photos, and thoughtful attention gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that Toby truly enjoyed his time with her and was treated like a part of her family. Thank you, Katie, for taking such wonderful care of our baby. We are so grateful for your kindness, patience, and love toward Toby. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter!

We had our pup stay with Christina for a week and he was in the best hands! She was proactive about having a meet and greet with her pup, she provided so much information, and the many updates were so detailed! I know our boy had the best time and there couldn’t have been a better place for him to have stayed.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
