She was able sit my pup last minute for several days, was very communicative, sent picture updates, administered my pup's daily anxiety medicine no problem, and made sure she got plenty of exercise/exploration time. “We were very fortunate to have Jan and Elena as sitters for Toby, our 8¾ year old male Cavalier King Charles spaniel. I had made travel plans on too short notice, allowing only 1 week to locate a sitter. The previous sitter I used, was unavailable so I applied to 4 other homes that seemed ideal. To each, I explained that Toby’s litter sister, Dani, had died 2 weeks earlier from chronic heart failure. After I entered information about Toby on each site, I received only ONE reply. At her request, a ‘meet and greet’ was set up late, the next day. As I was preparing to drive to the ‘meet and greet’, I received an apologetic phone call from the sitter who changed her mind. I was troubled, since now I only had 5 days to locate a good sitter. In panic mode, I completed the information for 2 additional sitters. I was still completing another Rover form when I received a call from Jan, minutes later, on her ‘personal’ phone, telling me that she, too, had experienced the loss of her dog with chronic heart failure and she knew what we were experiencing. Although it was dinner time, Jan allowed me to drive to her home, immediately, to do an impromptu ‘meet and greet’. I was overwhelmingly grateful for her compassion and thoughtfulness. Throughout the week of Toby’s vacation at Jan and Elena’s home, I received photos and kind messages at least 3 or 4 times daily. They were responsive to my concerns about Toby, who is deaf and on heart medications, having lost his sister so recently. All my instructions for Toby’s personal and health care were followed and I have complete trust in their competence and honesty. I knew that Toby was very safe in their care. On her Rover site, Jan was reassuringly responsible stating that all dogs will stay within her large fenced yard for liability reasons. Many sitters write about taking their dogs to a fenced off-leash park or on hikes, while in their care. That may be ideal for some active, younger dogs. I was more comfortable to know that Toby would not be on a leash in unfamiliar neighborhoods, with his hearing deficit. I am so pleased to have connected with Jan and Elena.”
