“Teri was wonderful to work with! She took such great care of my pup while I was gone. She took him on walks and made sure he was comfortable and happy. I would recommend Teri to anyone!”

“Jacob and his family did a great job watching Freya! She was a bit more anxious than usual cause we had been traveling a lot, and they did a great job making sure she was comfortable and taken care of. You can tell that it's a dog loving family, and Jacob is really putting in the effort. Katherine's daily updates were also much appreciated. Highly recommend!”

“Dan was great! Super nice guy, he sent us updates with photos throughout our trip. He has a nice big home with the perfect open yard. His dog was so sweet and friendly, our dog made friends with her immediately and was a great companion. We would definitely hire Dan again.”

“This was our second time having Anne care for our dog at her house while we were out of town for a week. Anne is so personable and you can tell she really loves caring for these dogs and takes the trust families are giving her seriously. I appreciate how laid back Anne is, adjusting to each dog's own personality and quirks :) Our dog gets a little home sick but I always know Anne is loving on him as if he were her own and sends us updates and pictures frequently to put us at ease. We will definitely continue to book with Anne in the future!”

About: I remember being a kid and finding a stray kitten at the store wandering around the front door begging for food.. I petted it and it followed me back to the car. My Grandma had no choice but to bring it home with us and that is just part of my story. I had that cat for 20 years. My two boys who are 10 and 13 love animals as much as I do. We just lost our Newfoundland and we still have our Collie, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, and our monstrous fish in the aquarium. I've learned that each animal has different needs and I know a lot about how to care for them. I prioritize peace and safety in our home and I want to give each animal a fun experience while you are away. Your pet will be part of the family when they are visiting with us. Our Collie, Creed, is excited to host new friends! Summertime, I stay at home and take care of the kids. I'm home most of the time except for any family trips we might take. During the school year, I work during the week on school days at my son's school, and pick kids up after school, but I'm otherwise home. Home on the weekends. I'm available on weekends and home. During the week, I work at my son's school part time and am home after 3 pm. I have a fenced in yard and one dog that loves to play with new friends. I also have two cats that are friendly with dogs. Depending on your pets personality, l will be quiet and calm and gentle with them, and/or play and take them for walks. I'll make sure they're safe and well cared for while you're gone.
“Sylvia is such a blessing. She was extremely communicative and caring for our dog! She took him on last minute over the holiday and we couldn’t be happier with finding her! Thank you so much Sylvia, we appreciate you so much and look forward to booking with you again next time.”

“Jenna is amazing! She was ultra responsive when it came to booking and she made it super easy. The boys absolutely loved her and had a great time. They came home all tuckered out. We can’t wait to see her again!”
“Diana was the best dog sitter ever!! She sent us a bunch of pictures and wrote sweet updates on what Ellie was up to for my son to read. She was so thoughtful, took Ellie on a ton of walks and loved her like she was her own dog. I highly recommended Diana and will use her again!”

“Nicole did such an amazing job with our girls. Communication was great. She send tons of pictures to help ease my mind. Her whole family was so good with the girls. I will def use her gain when needed. My girls have a new retreat to go too. They loved it and her family.”

“We have dogs with some specific needs / requests and Maddie was able to accommodate those and take great care of our girls. She seemed very qualified and in tune with their behavior. Our dogs are prone to UTI’s and she noticed an issue during the stay, and was very communicative and helpful in getting our dog the care she needed. Would recommend Maddie :)”

“Kristopher and Lisa and their family were very welcoming of our pup, Gus. They sent daily updates to let us know how he was doing and they did their best to make him feel at home!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
