“We were a little nervous since this was our first time using Rover, but Samantha made the entire experience so easy. We appreciated receiving all the regular updates with lots of pictures, and quick communication. It was clear our pet was in good hands with her. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with again with Samantha and highly recommend her to anyone in the area!”

“Haily is excellent! She took amazing care of my three cats — their food bowls were always spotless, and the water was always fresh. She even watered my plants and kept everything tidy. Her communication is outstanding, always keeping me updated and at ease while I was away. I truly appreciate her reliability and care. I’ll definitely be booking with Haily again and again — highly recommended!”

About: As a professional hypnotherapist specializing in emotional trauma, I bring a calm, empathetic presence to pet care. Combined with my nannying background and experience raising three dogs from puppy (2 Bullterriers & 1 Staffordshire mix) and currently caring for my recently adopted 1.5 year old female doberman, I create a balanced environment perfect for soothing anxious pets, and caring for dogs of all ages I am currently building my business and have plenty of flexible home office time, so there is lots of time and opportunity to go for walks and play time. Our home is roomy & secure and I can fit a small to medium crate if needed. We have lots of walkways and I love to go take dog for beach walks or easy hikes when I can
About: I have had dogs my entire life, I have experience training 4 dogs from puppy age through middle age and up until senior age! The dogs I have taken care of range from big dogs (german shepherds) to tiny dogs (teacup chihuahuas). I have a very active lifestyle that allows me to have fun with the dogs and get them active. I have experienced working with shelter dogs, I actively walked them and fed them. I HAVE BASE ACCESS :) !! My schedule has my days ending early afternoons so I would be available to stop in for walks/check-ins after. My nights are flexible for night visits. I currently live in dorm housing where animals are not allowed but for care inside client homes I will keep a watchful eye when letting your pet out and pay close attention to instructions.

About: Hi, I’m Kari! I’ve been a dog lover my entire life and currently share my home with Lola, my senior terrier mix. As a pet owner myself, I understand how stressful it can be to leave your pet behind, which is why I strive to provide the same level of care and attention I would want for my own dog. I have experience caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, and personalities, including senior pets who may need medications, extra monitoring, or a slower pace. Whether your pet needs a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight care, my goal is to help them feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. You can expect: • Dependable and attentive care • Regular updates and photos • Experience with senior dogs • Comfortable administering medications when needed • Clean and pet-friendly environment • Plenty of love, patience, and attention I know every pet is unique, and I’m happy to work with owners to maintain routines, preferences, and special care instructions. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I already care for my own senior dog, Lola. I work a consistent daytime schedule, which allows me to provide reliable drop-in visits, walks, and pet care before and after work, as well as throughout the day and on weekends. I understand the importance of routine for pets and will do my best to keep them comfortable, happy, and cared for while you're away. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I carefully follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, and any special care requests provided by owners. I believe every pet is unique and deserves individualized attention. I provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident your pet is being well cared for while you're away. Whether caring for pets in your home or mine, I strive to create a calm, safe, and loving environment.

About: Animals have been a part of my life since I was growing up in El Salvador. ❤️ I have experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds, and I truly enjoy making every pet feel safe, loved, and comfortable. One thing that sets me apart is my patience with shy or nervous pets. I cared for a Husky-German Shepherd mix who was initially afraid of me, but with time, patience, and consistency, he learned to trust me and became excited to see me. That experience taught me how important it is to respect each pet’s personality and let them build trust at their own pace. I have also cared for cats for many years and helped look after a sweet Pit Bull and a small Shih Tzu. I will treat your furry family member with kindness, attention, and love, just as I would want someone to treat my own pets. 🐾💕 I’m a stay-at-home mom with a flexible schedule and a lifelong love for animals. I’m available on weekday mornings and afternoons, and I can also help on weekends with advance notice. Living in beautiful Hawaii, I know families sometimes travel between islands or go away for the weekend and need someone trustworthy to care for their furry family members. I can offer boarding in my home or visit your home to provide loving care while you’re away. My home has a fully fenced yard, giving dogs a secure outdoor space to enjoy under supervision. I would provide a loving, calm environment with plenty of attention, playtime, and opportunities to relax. As a mom, I’m mindful of maintaining a safe environment for both children and pets. I would always supervise interactions and make sure each dog has the space and care they need. When caring for pets in their own homes, I’ll carefully follow their routines and their owners’ instructions, including feeding schedules, fresh water, potty breaks, walks, and any special needs. I’m also happy to send photo updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away.

About: Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always surrounded by dogs, and over the years I’ve developed a genuine love and appreciation for how much joy, comfort, and unconditional love they bring into our lives. My dog Charlie had the biggest impact on me. His love was completely unconditional, and he taught me just how special the bond between a person and their dog can be. Because of him, I believe every dog deserves to feel that same unconditional love, patience, safety, and kindness. When caring for your pet, I want them to feel comfortable, secure, and cared for just like they would at home. I’m attentive to their individual personalities and needs, whether they’re energetic and playful, shy and cautious, or simply looking for some extra companionship and cuddles. Your pet is more than just a pet—they’re family. I’d be honored to give them the love, attention, and care they deserve while you’re away. 🐶❤️ My Availability 🐾 I work full-time during the week, so my availability is primarily in the evenings. I’m generally available after 5 PM for evening walks, drop-ins, and check-ins. On weekends, I have much more flexibility and am available throughout the day for walks, check-ins, and boarding. I’m happy to work with you to find a schedule that works best for you and your pet! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Since I provide care in your home, I make sure to follow your instructions closely and keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible. I’m responsible, attentive, and always aware of my surroundings when caring for pets. During walks and outings, I pay close attention to traffic, other animals, and anything that could potentially put your pet at risk. I also understand that I’m being trusted with both your beloved pet and your home. I treat every home with the same respect I would want someone to show mine, and I’m mindful about keeping doors, gates, and other entry points secure. My goal is for you to feel confident knowing your pet is safe, cared for, and in good hands while you’re away. ❤️
“We are Sylvester and Pippa, two tuxedo cats, who were "abandoned" for 12 days by our humans while they went on vacation without us. We wholeheartedly give Colby 8 big paws up!! She was so awesome and sweet that we barely missed our humans. Colby provided a nice assortment of photos each day to them showing her feeding and playing with us making them really miss us. And, because we got lots of daily attention we didn't have to beg for it when our humans finally came home. Plus, our humans came home to a spotless litterbox! We love Colby!”

About: Pet lover and Corgi mom who understands how important routine, attention, and love are. I’m home all day and treat every pet like my own. I live in a house with a fully fenced backyard for secure outdoor time, plus plenty of nearby walking paths and sidewalks for long walks and exercise. I enjoy spending time with animals and would be happy to use my free time between classes and on weekends to make sure pets receive the attention, exercise, and care they need. I care for pets by making sure they have fresh water, food, exercise, and plenty of attention. Whether in my own home or a client's home, I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while following their usual routines and any specific instructions from their owners. I enjoy spending time with animals and always make sure to treat them with patience, kindness, and responsibility.

About: I’ve been around dogs for most of my life. My family dog, Buddy, is 12 years old, and we’ve had him since I was in 7th grade. Even after moving out, I still help care for him by taking him on his midday walks and spending time with him whenever I can. I know how much pets mean to their families, and I also understand that inviting someone into your home and trusting them with your pet isn’t always easy. If I were hiring someone to care for Buddy, I’d want someone who is dependable, respectful, and keeps me updated every step of the way—and that’s exactly the kind of sitter I strive to be. I’m very communicative, flexible, and reliable. I’ll always follow your instructions, respect your home, and send plenty of updates and photos so you know your pet is safe and having a great time. My goal is for you to feel completely comfortable and confident while you’re away. I have a very flexible schedule, so I’m available throughout the week for dog walks, drop-in visits, and pet care. Since I’m home most days, I have plenty of time to give your pets the attention, exercise, and companionship they deserve. I’m happy to work with your schedule whenever possible, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. While I’m not able to board pets in my own home, I’m happy to care for them in the comfort of their own home where they’re most relaxed. I’ll follow your pet’s routine, make sure they have fresh food and water, plenty of playtime, walks, and lots of love and attention. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel confident that your pet is in good hands.
About: I’ve taken care of all kinds of dogs. And I want to be able to help other people who are looking for help with dog sitting I work part- time. And with the extra time on my hands I want to be able to work with more cats and dogs. I do have experience working with a variety of animals, which I am super blessed to be able to do so. Unfortunately, I do not have Military or Base access. I care for pets as if they are my kids and I’m willing to do anything for them to have a good time. For a client’s house I will always respect it and keep things how they are when I got there

“Sierra was great with my dogs and knew how to handle their quirks. She also communicated wonderfully with me during the visit sending pictures and updates. Will definitely book with her again!”

About: I have over 6 years of hands-on experience caring for my own pets (cats), including feeding, daily care, mild grooming, and nail trimming. As a veterinary technician student, I’ve also gained valuable animal handling and care experience through my studies and one year of internship experience at an animal hospital. My background has helped me develop patience, attentiveness, and an understanding of how important it is to recognize an animal’s individual needs. While most of my personal pet care experience has been with cats, I’m excited to extend that same level of care, compassion, and responsibility to dogs. I understand that every pet has their own personality and comfort level, and I’ll always prioritize their safety and well-being! I’m currently working part-time so I am available for the most part. Weekdays between 8a-1pm and pretty free on the weekends after 4pm. I am flexible so please don’t hesitate to reach out regarding scheduling concerns. As a longtime pet owner and veterinary technician student with animal hospital experience, I understand the importance of creating a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for every pet. In my home, I prioritize proper hygiene, fresh food and water, a clean litter area, and plenty of attention while respecting each pet’s boundaries and personality. When caring for clients’ pets, I follow their routines and instructions closely to help minimize stress and maintain consistency. I understand that cats especially can be sensitive to unfamiliar people and environments, so I always approach them with patience and allow them to adjust at their own pace. I’m happy to accommodate individual feeding schedules, playtime, grooming needs within my experience, and other care instructions to help pet parents feel confident that their fur babies are in caring, responsible hands.
About: I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember, and caring for them has always been a natural part of my life. I grew up on a horse ranch, spending my days feeding, grooming, and learning everything I could about the animals around me. My passion only grew as I became deeply involved in 4-H and FFA, where I gained hands-on experience with livestock, leadership, and animal care. From horses to household pets, animals have shaped who I am—and caring for them isn’t just something I do, it’s who I’ve always been. I’m a stay at home wife so I have completely open availability and wanted to turn something I love into something that makes a little money! I have a big yard and a run lead so you don’t have to worry about any of your babies slipping away. I understand the love and care that we all have for our pets and will absolutely treat them like my children when they’re here. We’re a kid free environment so all the attention is on your babies!
About: I grew up with dogs and cats, both owned and fostered and all different sizes! We also have 2 large pups who love to play with other dogs. I am comfortable and familiar with administering medication or whatever your animal may need with clear instructions. I work remote several days a week so I have flexibility to check in on or walk your animals! I am also available on weekends for check ins if planned in advance. I have a fenced in yard and 2 active pups. I will typically not offer in-home care unless there are meet and greets first, as we have a little one in the home.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Halawa
I’m so thankful for Nessa coming by to check on our two cats while we were away! She took the time to track down our very shy cat in his favorite hiding spots and sent pictures of him and his much more outgoing sister. She even came in an extra time to troubleshoot our litter genie when we got an error message on it

Karina is amazing! She is so good with our three pups! Karina took extensive notes during our meet and greet regarding each of our dogs and their individual personalities. We have one dog that is very selective with new people and she loved Karina immediately! All our dogs absolutely love her drop in visits, and we trust her to be in our home and care for our pups.

We were so lucky in having Chelsea watch Star for the last several months. I trust that Star will be in good hands! When we come back from our trips, our house was neat and tidy. She is also great at letting us know about updates and how Star is doing! We enthusiastically recommend her to furry parents out there.

Samantha was yet again an amazing sitter for our cats/apartment while we were away. She is always my top choice for good reason! Her attentiveness and the ample updates/pictures always keep me at ease knowing our little ones are safe and cared for while we’re gone.

We couldn’t have been happier with the care Haily provided to our dog. It was clear that our dog was comfortable, happy, and well cared for while we were away. Haily was dependable, caring, and great at communicating with us. She gave us complete peace of mind, and we would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!

Sean is amazing pet sitter. He took wonderful care of my cat! Always sending really cute pictures of her. If you want someone who can make you feel secure about your pets, give informative updates on your pets, and send you pictures of your cat that will make you smile, then he's the man!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
