About: As an aspiring veterinarian and Animal Science student, I've always had a passion for caring for animals. I've been the proud owner of my Shih Tzu for nearly 7 years, giving me firsthand experience with daily care, grooming, exercise, and understanding a dog's unique needs. I also regularly assist in caring for a well-loved Goldendoodle whenever his owner is away, making sure he stays on his normal routine, gets plenty of attention, and feels comfortable while his family is gone. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always strive to provide safe, loving, and reliable care. I'm currently an Animal Science student, so my class schedule includes breaks throughout the day that give me flexibility for walks, drop-in visits, and spending quality time with your pets. I'm also a member of a cheer team, but I plan my schedule carefully and will always make sure your pet's needs are met. I understand how important routines, attention, and reliability are, and I'm committed to providing dependable care and keeping you updated while you're away. I understand that trusting someone with your pet and your home is a big decision, and I know that trust is something that's earned over time. I'm patient, dependable, and committed to building that trust by treating your pets with the same love, respect, and care that I give my own. Their safety, comfort, and well-being will always be my top priority. I also understand that being away from their owners can be stressful for many pets. That's why I believe caring for them in the comfort of their own home can help provide a sense of security and keep their routine as normal as possible. My goal is to create a calm, loving environment where your pet feels safe, happy, and cared for until you're back home. I also believe in keeping owners updated with messages and photos, so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in good hands.

“Justin did a fantastic job taking care of our kitties Phoenix and Cici while we were away! He was extremely professional, communicative, and very thoughtful. 5 stars all around!”

“Sarah is the best ! She has been pet sitting Mac & Rusty since they were puppies and just new to Rover. I’m a little upset about having to share her with other Dog Moms but know she has lots of love to give the fur babies. Whether it’s a walk, drop in feeding or overnight I know they are well taken of and cuddled with. I highly recommend Sarah for any of your pet needs!”

“Erika did an amazing job taking care of our two dogs and cat. She sent pictures everyday and spent a considerable amount of time with them outside despite the snow storm we had. She was flexible as we extended our trip a few more days and went above and beyond by bringing packages in and taking our trash out. I highly recommend her and we will definitely use her services again.”
“Arden was so sweet to help me in a last minute pinch. She took the time to do a meet and greet, was always on time, and sent adorable pictures of our pup all weekend. Thanks Arden!”

“Kendal was amazing! She respected my home space and gave me active updates on my pups and truly spent time with them! She knows what she’s doing and knows how to care based on moods of my pets!”

“Flora was a total professional! She planned the initial meetup, got all of our instructions, and had zero issues in our somewhat complicated home. She was kind, on time, communicative, flexible, and most importantly all of our animals loved her! We will ONLY be using Flora from now on!!”

About: I have had my own dogs since I was 5 years old, so I am intimately familiar with caring for pups (grooming, feeding, giving medications, walking, playing, training). I also spent almost all of high school volunteering at the Durham County Animal Shelter, where I interacted with all kinds of dogs (walking, playing, providing enrichment) and cared for cats (cleaning cages, socializing). I have been petsitting professionally for 5 years, and have learned a ton interacting with all kinds of pets and situations! I am a college sophomore, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I am available throughout the week and most weekends for walks, drop-ins, and house-sitting during the school year. When in your home, I ensure any directions given are followed to the best of my ability and double check everything is done correctly before I leave. I’m not hesitant to ask questions when needed! I double check doors on my way out, and for walks ensure everything is fitted correctly. I have a leash-reactive dog myself, so I am comfortable redirecting or moving away from a situation that could escalate.
“Caitlin was a fantastic sitter for our two cats. We hired her last minute before the holidays and she couldn't have been more accommodating, meeting us beforehand and helping with medicine for one cat. She was kind, communicative and considerate. Everything was done perfectly and both cats took to her very well! Definitely recommend Caitlin!”

About: I have had pets my whole life. I love taking care of them and I’m very good at it. I have taken care of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, bunnies, hamsters, bearded dragons, and even a chinchilla. I am in college right now. I am available anytime Mondays and Fridays. For the rest of the week, I am available anytime after 3 pm. Since I am currently in college, I can’t bring any pets back with me so I would have to pet sit at your home. I can crate your dog when needed. I’m very good at disciplining animals. I do not yell and I definitely do not hit.
“Caley is wonderful! She is very quick to respond. She was very patient with our thorough meet and greet. Charlie instantly warmed up to her with no hesitation. She is communicative and I love seeing how happy Charlie looks in the pictures she takes while they are playing. We highly recommend Caley to care for your fur babes.”

About: I’ve always loved animals and truly believe pets deserve the same love, patience, and attention we give our own family. I have experience caring for dogs and understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. I’m comfortable with walks, playtime, feeding, potty breaks, and giving pets plenty of attention and affection. I’m also very attentive to changes in a pet’s behavior or appearance and will always communicate with you if something seems off. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away! I’m currently in nursing school, so my schedule varies depending on my classes and clinicals. I’m organized and plan ahead to make sure I have enough time to give each pet the attention and care they deserve. I treat every pet like they are my own and prioritize their safety, comfort, and well-being. I follow each pet parent’s instructions and routines closely, including feeding, walks, medications if needed, and playtime. I’m very observant and will communicate with you if I notice anything unusual. Whether I’m caring for your pet in your home or taking them for a walk, I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and loved.
“Megan did a great job caring for my high energy pup! She gave me such great peace of mind while I was away. I’ll definitely be asking Megan to care for Hamilton next time I’m away!”

About: I am a dog lover at my core! My family always had a dog (or two) in the house and I helped out in caring for them. I currently have a large dog myself that is the light of my life! Dogs really are a gift to us. I have experience with puppies and the whole potty training ordeal, elderly dogs (one of the pugs was mine and was partially blind) and administering basic oral prescription meds— peanut butter anyone? I am a teacher on summer break with flexible time to spend with you and your fur baby! I can provide morning, evening and night drop-ins to fit your baby’s schedule. I will accommodate all instructions from the pet owner. I have experience in potty training and teaching basic commands. I am relaxed around animals and definitely have the “dog-mom voice” down pat. My own home stays very clean so I will ensure to take care of yours as well.

Could not recommend Christopher more! He went above and beyond and will be our #1 sitter for life! Our power went out while we were away and Christopher even went back twice in one day to check on our sweet kitten and the house, keeping an eye on temps (it was hot), and making sure everything was okay. He was communicative and really made us feel like we had someone who loved our cat there to care for her. I truly could not recommend him more!
Michelle was awesome! She took care of my fur baby so good and took on the job last minute when a family member left me in a lurch as I was leaving the country. She treated my baby kind and was compassionate and followed instructions. I would definitely utilize her services again!!

Flora does a wonderful job! We have a skittish, elderly cat who is extremely bonded to me and dislikes everyone else. Flora has been able to follow our cat's cues and actually develop a comfortable relationship with her. This is the second time she has cat sit for us, and both times our cat was not upset or anxious when we returned. We already have Flora booked for our next trip.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
