About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and have provided care for many different pets growing up, including dogs, cats, and even more unique animals. I have bottle-fed a litter of newborn kittens and cared for them until they were adopted, and I’ve cared for newborn puppies as well as senior dogs up to 18 years old. There has never been a year in my life when I haven’t owned a dog. Animals tend to warm up to me quickly, and I approach every pet with calm, patient energy so they feel safe and comfortable. If chosen, I will make sure your pet gets the appropriate amount of exercise, attention, and affection they need, while always respecting their routine and your instructions. Safety is extremely important to me. I never let pets out of my sight, always keep them leashed outdoors, and am attentive to their surroundings at all times. I’m happy to provide treats and toys if approved. I have two pets of my own and don’t see them as “just pets,” but as part of my family. When I’m caring for your pet, I make sure they feel the same way: loved, secure, and treated like family in a safe and nurturing environment. I structure my schedule to prioritize pet care, with flexible availability throughout the week. I plan my days so pets are never rushed and always receive consistent attention, exercise, and supervision. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I carefully follow all care instructions, keep pets leashed outdoors, maintain clean environments, and respect clients’ homes as if they were my own. Clear communication and updates are always provided.
“My dog is very skittish at first but ashley made him feel at ease. He started getting separation anxiety but after we started the walks he seems better. He hasn't had accidents and he seems very happy! thank you ashley!”

“Roxanne is absolutely wonderful! She treats our little Sheeman (Shiba Deman :)) like a prince! He is so happy when she comes to visit and we know he is safe when he is with her!”

“Jamie has been a life saver! I really and truly appreciate all the communication, flexibility and just genuine care. Jamie made it a point to come over to our house to meet Chilli and myself and that made me feel so much better about the whole process. I would and have recommended Jamie to anyone who will listen!”

About: I have had dogs for over 15 years and attended trainings with them so I am versed on how to train and care for your pet. I am comfortable with puppies and senior dogs. I am a nurse by profession and I am very comfortable giving medications or injections. Thank you for sharing your furry friends with me and allowing me the privilege to care for them! 🐾 I am available for walks during the day near lake forest or evenings. I can watch your pet on weekends or during the week as needed. There are no pets in my home currently so your pet will get all the attention. We will do frequent walks and able to crate if needed. No dog is too big or small

About: I’ve had animals my entire life and it’s truly my passion, everyone I know trusts me with their furrbabies! I’ve had dogs (great dane and boston terriers), cats, fish, tortoise, and a bearded dragon. I treat every pet like my own, i’m attentive and patient, and my main priority is making sure your pet feels safe and comfortable! I am a high schooler in online school, a month away from graduating. I also don’t currently have a job, so I am available daily! I prefer to work in the morning. I have plenty of experience with taking care of animals. During drop-in visits I will take care to follow all of your requests while making sure your pet feels safe and happy!

About: I've taken care of dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs almost my whole life! My personal pet care background is incredibly diverse. I currently manage a lively three-cat household with my sweet cuddle bug Lillie, and my sister’s rambunctious and silly littermate brothers, Scout and Sawyer. I am also the proud owner of a childhood calico named Luna, and a Shepherd/golden mix, Osa. Because Osa is a high-energy, reactive dog, I learned a lot from her and personally worked on training her. Additionally, I have experience with senior pets. I lovingly cared for my late childhood dog, Sisi, which included managing her daily medications. I have also administered short-term medications to cats. I specialize exclusively in house sitting at your home, drop-in visits, and neighborhood dog walks. I look forward to giving your pets the absolute best care! :) My schedule is very flexible this summer, which makes it easy to stick to whatever daily routine your pets are used to. Whether they need a mid-day drop-in visit, a walk, or someone to stay overnight to keep them company, I can easily accommodate their regular timing. Since I will be caring for your pets in your home, my main priority is keeping their environment safe and consistent. I am highly attentive to details like securing doors and gates, keeping dogs properly leashed during walks, and following your specific household instructions. I always send regular photo updates and check-ins so you have full peace of mind while you are away.

About: Ive taken care of family members dogs before. I’ve also had experience with puppies and adult dogs! I have 1 dog of my own and it would be fun to be able to take care of other dogs as well :) I work part time and most of my afternoons I’m free! I always love going on walks in the afternoons anyways so having someone to walk with would be awesome! I have a fenced yard and a crate inside if needed. I do have kids but they’re all very gentle with our animals here at home.
About: I’ve cared for dogs since I was about 5 years old. And that was when I received my first pet, a chihuahua mix. I’ve cared for her since she was a puppy and she just recently passed away due to old age. I have the patience to deal with puppies and elder dogs! I love them all! I’m currently working part time at a restaurant so I have some down time! I’m available mostly in the afternoons from 2pm - 8pm. I care for every pet as if they were my own by making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owner is away. In a client's home, I follow their pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medication administration (if needed), and plenty of attention and affection.

I am very tuned in to their body language, and very adept at reading their emotions. Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Grayslake
Kayla was very understanding of our rules and expectations. She handled the dogs with care and very open lines of communication. When there were any changes Kayla was very flexible and understanding. I would highly recommend her for n trust with your animals. Her care allowed my wife and I to have a stress free weekend. She even went above and beyond and fed our cat out of her own kindness. Thanks for everything. Will definitely hire again.
Roxanne did a wonderful job this weekend walking our two dogs. Roxanne is patient and communicative with us, especially regarding our quarantine rules our puppy Killian and an avoiding other dogs until she is fully vaccinated. She is also wonderful with our adult dog Guinness who has a lot of personality and energy. We love Roxanne and highly recommend her!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
