“Lyle & Karen helped me with feeding my dog Cody who had suddenly developed an aversion to food, also administered medication that is nearly impossible to do by myself. It's especially helpful to have 2 people assisting me instead of just one. They were very patient and caring. I really appreciate them coming to see Cody, and want to apologize about the sloppy "canine cookies" instead of the liquid meal that I originally had planned to feed him. I hope to see them again for another visit. It's especially convenient how close they live to us. Thank you for everything.”

“Jenna is absolutely amazing! We had a small hiccup with the house key early on but we got it worked out quick and easy. Jenna took a ton of photos of my kiddo and was super communicative the entire time. Thank you so much for everything, I would absolutely rebook on my next trip! ❤️”

“Trinity was able to help us out for a last minute request, everything went smoothly and she took great care of the pups! Would absolutely work with Trinity again!”

“Kellye was amazing with our fur baby and treated her with so much love and care, I couldn’t recommend her more! Very responsive and reassured us every step of the way. Clover instantly clicked with her energy and they became friends so fast. This says so much about the love she has for animals!”

“Erika watched our 3 babies twice a day for an entire week. She was truly incredible. She is very responsible, timely, and took multiple pictures of each pup. She was so very patient, experienced, and listened to all of our directions so well. Even when one of our pups was anxious she cleaned up after him and cared for him. Thank you Erika for being so caring and loving to our fur baby family!!”

About: Animals have been part of my life from day one. I grew up with two veterinary technicians as parents, so caring for pets wasn't just something we did, it was part of our family. At 15, I got my first job as a kennel technician, where I learned how to safely handle dogs of every size, age, and personality. Over the years, I've had the joy of owning dogs and cats of all kinds, including raising three Great Pyrenees through college and adulthood. Giant breeds taught me patience, consistency, and how to confidently handle even the strongest dogs. Whether your pup loves a leisurely "sniffari" with plenty of time to explore or prefers an energetic jog to burn off some zoomies, I'm happy to match their pace and personality. I have experience with puppies, seniors, large breeds, small breeds, and everything in between. I know your pets are family, and I'll care for them with the same attention, safety, and love I'd want for my own. I work from home with a flexible schedule, which allows me to accommodate walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting throughout the day. I'm available mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, and I can often accommodate last-minute requests. My flexible workday means your pets will receive reliable, attentive care and won't be left waiting for their visit. I understand that trusting someone with both your pets and your home is a big decision. I'll treat your home with the same care and respect I would my own, keeping it clean, secure, and exactly as you left it. Your pet's safety and comfort are always my top priorities, and I'll follow your routines and instructions carefully to help them feel relaxed while you're away. You can expect reliable communication, photo updates, and dependable care every step of the way.

“You are an absolute doll and a very kind young lady. Everything you did brought a smile to my face and heart. Thank you for coming on short notice. I will definitely call you again. 🥰”

About: I have owned dogs all my life. I grew up with Akitas and Clumber spaniels (It's a real breed) and then got into rescues. My Booboo (Westie) came to me in college and hung out with me in Orlando then in Brooklyn and then back to stay here. My fiancé's dogs moved in during a hurricane and never left. We were up to 3 in a studio apartment. They lived great lives. The current generation are gentle giants. Miles and Bart are their names. I could leave them in a room of toddlers and be absolutely sure nothing would happen. I love dogs. Also dogs love me! I'm the guy at a party the dog hangs out with. I run events at night so I can hang out with your pups in the morning and early afternoon. I have a car so I can get to them your pups fast. I live in a quiet neighborhood in a house with a fence and a pool. I've had friends tell me they hope to come back as my dog. We bought a king size bed so the dogs would be more comfortable. They slept in bed before too it was just far less comfortable for us.

“Glacie was awesome! The babies loved her. She did great with taking them out to go potty, feeding them and giving them water. She also gave them medication I had left on the kitchen counter with instructions on how to administer. We will definitely be requesting her sitting services again!”

“Aly was amazing! Her friendly personality and willingness to have fun conversations during out meet and greet really helped put me at ease that my baby was in good hands. Would definitely book again 🤩”

“Shirel is super dependable and great with my boys! She communicates any changes and is great at following up with anything needed! I receive daily reports and photos of my boys and that eases my mind knowing they were taken care of. Highly recommend her :)”

“I have a very annoying dog that has made using any services super scary to me. Nevaeh listened to the whole situation, came over for a meet and greet ahead of time, was extremely understanding and sweet. She was on time and she stayed with them a little extra to get to know them too. She even washed their food bowls which I didn’t even ask her to do. 10/10 recommend! I will be a repeat customer!”
“Thank you Isabella for the helpful drop in visit for my babies. It was so nice to have no worries while I attended my son's graduation. I appreciate all the pictures and excellent communication.... see you again soon!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
