“Kelly was amazing with her updates and provided my family with much needed peace of mind while we were away. Our Frenchie,Bijuu, seemed to enjoy himself and Kelly was thorough in making sure she attended to all his needs. Would absolutely book again.”

“My wife and have been using dog sitters to help us with our significant travel schedule for over 20 years. We have had some good ones, some not-so-good ones, and a couple of very good ones. Presently we have a 9 pound Havanese and a 23 pound mini Irish Doodle. We chose Mitzi (and her family) for our recent two week trip to Long Island. Granted that this was our first time using her, but our experience with Mitzi was as good or better than any other sitter we have ever used. She listens well and has great attention to detail. Her house and large enclosed yard are perfect, and she and her husband both work from home. She loved our dogs as if they were her own (she has four), and they loved her and her entire family. She communicated with pics and video at least two or three times a day to help us stay connected with our dogs and assure us everything was well. Our dogs came home happy and exhausted from so much paly and run time. While nothing unusual happened during their stay at Mitzi's, I am convinced that I could depend on her to do whatever is necessary for them in love. We plan to use Mitzi as long as she is available.”

“We contacted Alex at the last minute to board our dog, Finn. She is amazing!! Her response time was fast, we were able to schedule a meet and greet that same day and she took excellent care of Finn during his stay. She has 2 well behaved dogs that loved up on Finn. He did so well with Alex and we were at ease for our very special trip. She is organized and handles many dogs at a time with confidence and skill. She is good at communicating so we knew how Finn was doing. I highly recommend Alex! We will use her in the future for sure!”

“This was the first time I’ve ever left Zara with anyone outside of my home. But, let me tell you….Zara and I feel extremely lucky to have found and been able to use Lesley for Zara’s stay. Lesley and her family were absolutely amazing and took such good care of Zara. It was clear that Lesley loves animals and takes this “job” seriously. Lesley and her family truly welcomed and treated Zara as their own. It took Zara a while to warm up being in a new environment and all. But, once she did, you could tell she was enjoying herself. Lesley cared for Zara in the same way(s) I do; following our usual eating, sleeping, and playing routines. Lesley maintained great communication with me and provided me with updates and several pictures and a video. All of which eased my anxiety a ton! I can’t praise Lesley and her family enough! I will be booking with Lesley again in the future. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!”

“She was an amazing dog sitter. She kept Sheba for 3 days and kept us informed the entire time. She let us know right away if anything was off and truly cared about Sheba’s wellbeing. She was also very kind and professional when we met. I would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her.”

“Michelle takes great care of my dogs each time they stay with her. She is dependable. She replies to messages quickly and provides updates on my dogs' stay which includes photos. Thank you for always taking such great care of my dogs!!”

“As before when she watched Pepper, Sarai kept us updated and the pups seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. We received a number of pictures and regular communications! We’re entirely greatful to her for taking such good care of our babies!”

“Took a last minute booking after our scheduled boarder decided that our dog was too much. Our dog had no issues with her at all. She saved us from being in a bad position and handled our dog who doesn't like being without us without issue for five days.”

“Kaitlyn and her family were very welcoming to Bentley . She sent pictures of Bentley while we were away, it seems he really enjoyed his vacation and backyard play. I will definitely use Kaitlyn in the future.”

“Karen & Vincent were great! She provided plenty of updates during Jasper & Onyx’s stay and I could trust they were happy and well cared for. She even let me know about Jasper’s developing limp which I greatly appreciated. I know I can rely on her to take good care of my babies when we need her again in the future”

“I booked Taylor for a last minute trip and she was wonderful to work with! She was very responsive and flexible during the booking process and sent lots of communication and photos during the stay. I would definitely recommend her and book with her again.”

“I had a bad experience with a previous rover sitter so I was so reluctant to leave my baby but Casey eased all of that! She was extremely attentive with our baby. To the point where she will be my go to whenever I'm in the area and she is available. She was kind, very responsive and really eased all of my concerns. Thank you again for caring for our baby especially during our time of need!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Caitlin! She was absolutely incredible—by far the best sitter we’ve had for Sully. She kept us constantly updated with pictures and messages, which made it so easy to relax and enjoy our own vacation knowing he was in such good hands. From the looks of it, Sully had his own vacation filled with fun, cuddles, and adventures. We’ll definitely be booking with Caitlin again—she’s a true gem!”

“First, let me say, if you head to Sarah's late in the day... don't go hungry. At drop off and pick up, I wanted to pull up a chair to her dinner table. House smelled like she could be on a cooking show! Now--on to the sitting. My puppy has high energy and has never been away from me, so I was nervous. She sent frequent updates and videos of Athena playing with her new bestie. Her pitbull had so much patience with my rambunctious pomsky. I would recommend Sarah to anyone. My little girl is tuckered out and sleeping soundly. I know she will miss Lainey for sure.”

“Ksenia is so kind and took such good care of our dog. It was nice to go on a trip and know that our dog was in good hands. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.”

“Julia was great. She sent lots of pictures and it seemed like my dogs truly enjoyed staying with them. She was flexible as our drop off and pick up times had to change, and she made sure to check in often. I will definitely use them again and recommend their service to others.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
