“Heather was amazing!!! My friend who was supposed to watch Luke had a last minute family emergency and I had to book Heather the night before I left. My buddy is 14 this month and had a bladder infection so I was going to cancel my trip until I met her and saw how comfortable Luke was. She took such incredible care of him making sure he finished his antibiotics and got all his supplements. I loved all the updates and photos. Highly recommend Heather for a senior dog or any dog you want well cared for. Thank you for allowing me the time to be with my family and not worry about my best buddy.”

“I real felt comfortable leaving my pets with Laura. She was able to handle my energetic lab and diva cat. She also semt a few photos, which is always nice. I got home a little earlier than expected and I could tell my pup bonded with her. I also really appreciate how she respected my home. Will definitely have her back!!”

“Joshua met with my wife and I before the stay to address some logistics of the stay and answer all of our questions. Joshua was very excited to see our dog Goose and you could tell that he genuinely loved animals. Joshua stayed for 2 nights in our home and we felt very comfortable that the home would be well taken care of. Joshua did not disappoint! He sent a lot of pictures of him hanging out and walking our dog and left our house in the condition he found it. We knew our boy had a great time with Joshua and I am already planning on using him again for our next vacation. Great rover experience!”

“EJ's attention to detail was exceptional. She thoroughly reviewed the information about Tessie, asked questions, and made sure that she understood Tessi's routine, and the house. Tessie had a medical emergency that required a visit to the vet. EJ handled the issue proffessionaly and compasionately and made sure the Tessie got the proper treatment, kept me informed, and followed up with the appropriate treatment when they returned home. Tessie is doing well. Tessie was well cared for while I was away. The house was spotless. EJ was exceptional.”

Mariana is wonderful with our dogs! She is very trustworthy and responsible. She keeps us updated and sends us pictures of the dogs throughout her stay. This is our second time with Mariana, and we will use her again. Thank you Mariana for taking care of Archie and Frankie!

Madison did a great job watching my dog! She followed all my directions and left a clean home. She was responsive to messages and agreed to do a meet and greet before. She even watered my plants while I was away. I returned to a happy and healthy dog! I would definitely book her again and recommend her to a friend!! :)

Rose house sat for us over a weekend and took excellent care of our 12 year old heeler who is a typical cattle dog. She sent prompt updates, photos and stayed on top of his daily insulin medication. We arrived home to a happy and calm pup, and the house clean and tidy. I would absolutely have her house sit for us again!

Second time staying at Heather’s. It’s like Truffle’s second family. Truffle loves Heather and her cat Willow. She got to meet Heather’s daughter and I saw photos of Truffle with Heather’s daughter. Truffle was giving her kisses. Heather is very communicative. Sent lots of photos. Most importantly Truffle feels love and at home there. Heather will be Truffle’s forever sitter… the one sad thing is - it can be hard to book Heather. What to do? She’s the best sitter. Fingers crossed - hopefully next time Truffle needs Heather, she will be available!

Rain did an incredible job taking care of our anxious corgi and elderly kitty. We had just moved from out of state and it was our first time ever hiring a pet sitter while we flew back home to visit family for about five days, so we were nervous about figuring out animal care while we were gone. We found Rain here on Rover and they did such an incredible job at taking care of them and sending cute pictures and updates while we were gone. When we came home, we could tell that they were happy and well taken care of and Rain even left a little calming dog tv for our boy in the interim of our plane landing/driving home. I would highly recommend Rain and would most definitely book again as well! ^_^

Xime is an absolute gem and exactly the kind of sitter every dog owner dreams of finding. We've used Xime multiple times for our two 3-month-old Shih Tzu puppies, and she never disappoints. Anyone who has raised puppies knows how demanding they are, hourly potty trips, nap schedules, kennel routines, white noise machines, kennel cam monitoring, and Xime handles all of it flawlessly, without being asked twice. From the start, she was proactive in asking for instructions and clearly came prepared. Our pups absolutely adore her, they light up the moment they see her, but then settle right into their routine, which tells you everything about how consistent and calm she is with them. She is incredibly attentive and intuitive with them, and it shows. Xime keeps a detailed log of every potty trip and what happened, plus nap times and wake-up times, so we always know exactly how their day went. On top of that, she sends regular updates, photos, and videos and she has a genuine talent for photography. The shots she captures of our pups are absolutely adorable. She is also a respectful, tidy guest in our home. We honestly would never have known she was there. Communication is easy, clear, and responsive, and booking with her is a breeze. If you have puppies especially, Xime is exceptional. We trust her completely and couldn't recommend her more highly.

Sierra was awesome. She took great care of my senior dog while I was out of town. Her daily updates not only confirmed her food & medicine schedule, but also reports on her behavior in & out of the house. Ruth can be a stinker, but was fortunately well-behaved with her houseguest! I would definitely book with Sierra again!

Kieran has been a great rover sitter for Jack and my house. She is a very good communicator and shares about each day she spends with Jack including photos. I know my pup is in good hands and that she really cares about him. I have utilized Kieran multiple times now because of this great service.

I have two very sweet dogs that really just do better at home than in unfamiliar environments. Andrew was exactly what they needed. Throughout my trip he provided regular updates and took great care of my fur babies. I can’t explain in words how nice it was to know they were well taken care of in their home during my trip. Thank you Andrew!

Danitra did so well with our animals and was very accommodating. This was our first time having a pet sitter at all, and we were concerned initially because our dogs aren't very sociable, but she did a great job winning them over and going the extra mile making them comfortable and keeping us in the loop too.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fife Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fife Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fife Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
