“Matthew was awesome. My shy boy, William, took to him instantly. He has a new best friend. Bailey was very shy at first. Matthew was very patient and she eventually interacted with him more. I would highly recommend Matthew. He took very good care of my babies and our home.”

“EJ's attention to detail was exceptional. She thoroughly reviewed the information about Tessie, asked questions, and made sure that she understood Tessi's routine, and the house. Tessie had a medical emergency that required a visit to the vet. EJ handled the issue proffessionaly and compasionately and made sure the Tessie got the proper treatment, kept me informed, and followed up with the appropriate treatment when they returned home. Tessie is doing well. Tessie was well cared for while I was away. The house was spotless. EJ was exceptional.”

“Vanessa did such a great job watching over our home and fur babies! It was such a relief to know that my two cats and two dogs were taken care of while our family was away for a wedding weekend. Would definitely bring Vanessa back again.”

“Heather was amazing!!! My friend who was supposed to watch Luke had a last minute family emergency and I had to book Heather the night before I left. My buddy is 14 this month and had a bladder infection so I was going to cancel my trip until I met her and saw how comfortable Luke was. She took such incredible care of him making sure he finished his antibiotics and got all his supplements. I loved all the updates and photos. Highly recommend Heather for a senior dog or any dog you want well cared for. Thank you for allowing me the time to be with my family and not worry about my best buddy.”

“Archie LOVES Lauren ◡̈ I had to go into the office all day and so I hired her to watch Archie while I was gone they played almost the whole time! She sent me pictures and videos throughout which made me feel at ease so I could focus on work! Archie is a high energy dog and she was able to handle him with ease! Showed up on time and understood everything she needed to know ◡̈ Highly recommend and will definitely use her in the future! ◡̈”

“Shelli was a great house sitter! She was on time, provided wonderful photos of her interactions with our dogs and clear communication while we were gone. We arrived home to happy dogs and a clean house. Would recommend as a house sitter and will hire again.”

“I came home to a very happy cat and clean house. This is my second time with Meghan and I will book her again when I next travel. Meghan allows me to travel worry free.”

About: What sets me apart is that I work from home, so I’m able to give pets plenty of attention, companionship, and care throughout the day.I genuinely enjoy being active and going on walks, and I love having pets as part of my daily routine. I have experience caring for two larger senior dogs and two cats, so I’m comfortable with pets of different sizes, ages, personalities, and needs. Most importantly, I treat every pet like family and want them to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re in my care. Since I work from home, pet care naturally fits into my daily routine. I’m able to give pets attention throughout the day, including walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship. I enjoy starting my day with a walk and making time for pets throughout the day, so caring for them feels like a natural part of my lifestyle. I’m also used to caring for my own senior dogs and cats, so I understand the importance of patience, consistency, and paying attention to each pet’s individual needs. I care for every pet with the same patience, attention, and love that I give my own pets. I have two senior dogs and two cats, and I also regularly walk and pet sit my friends’ dogs, so I’m comfortable caring for pets with different personalities, ages, and needs. At my home, I provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment with plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and consistent routines. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their instructions and their pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. I make sure they have fresh food and water, exercise, playtime, and companionship. I’ll also keep owners updated with photos and messages so they know their pets are happy and well cared for.
“Sarah did a wonderful job taking care of our two dogs - Archie and Frankie! She sent us updates daily with pictures. The house was clean when we returned and she even watered my outside plants. We will definitely request Sarah to pet sit for us again. Thank you Sarah!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs ranging in all size and age since I was a teen. I’ve taken care of cats as well 1-3 at a time. Currently between jobs so I have a lot of time I can spend with your pets! I tend to have a couple activities a week but can plan less with notice I will care for your pet at your house in whatever way you deem fit, whether that means crating or multiple walks a day. Whatever your pet does best with!
“I real felt comfortable leaving my pets with Laura. She was able to handle my energetic lab and diva cat. She also semt a few photos, which is always nice. I got home a little earlier than expected and I could tell my pup bonded with her. I also really appreciate how she respected my home. Will definitely have her back!!”

“Dianna was hands down the best house sitter we’ve ever had. We needed someone to care for our husky, Lilo, while we were out of town for several days, and Dianna exceeded every expectation. She was incredibly attentive, reliable, and communicative throughout our trip. Every day, she sent detailed updates and plenty of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind knowing Lilo was happy, safe, and well cared for. When we got home, Lilo was excited to see us, but it was obvious she had formed a special bond with Dianna. In fact, we think she was a little disappointed it wasn’t Dianna walking through the door! That alone speaks volumes about the care, attention, and love she provided. We would recommend Dianna without hesitation to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and exceptional house sitter.”

“Alexis is the best ever! She is extremely responsible, communicative , and reliable. I feel that she cared for my Romi as if she were her own! I left for the weekend knowing my dog would have the best of care. 100% happy with this experience.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Federal Way
We were very happy with Rose. She kept us in touch with our pets activities. She send messages and photos of both Oliver and Eigen. She went above our expectations making sure our kitty adjusted to a new caregiver. She let our home in order. We love to have her back. Pam & Dana

Matthew is a fantastic pet sitter. He communicates well, always shows up on time, and is very reliable. He is kind, gentle, and patient with my pets. I would definitely hire Matthew again. I needed to go on a short trip and was really worried about leaving my 2 little dogs and 2 cats, especially since two of them are senior and require medications and special attention, and are not used to being around people they don't know well. Matthew was kind and gentle with them, and after a few days even my grouchy senior girl had warmed up to him. I was amazed that she laid in his lap and let him pet her tummy!

Molly was wonderful! She was super communicative about how the dogs were doing - not only the dogs but also our 5 fish - and she quickly responded to any message from us about household requests. She walked our big dogs at least 45 minutes a day and watered our garden in the dead of summer. We saw that the dogs were loved and cared for our whole time away. In addition, Molly left our house clean as a whistle! I highly recommend Molly for any house sitting and/or dog sitting job and I have full confidence in her skills and the care she will provide any pet in the future!

Gaby was very responsible, from the first meet and greet to the goodbye when I returned home. She is friendly and my dog felt comfortable with her quickly, so I felt comfortable leaving him in her hands. She arrived on time and was responsive to my messages, and also sent me pictures after she arrived and throughout the day. Thank you Gaby!

Lois is simply the best! Both her prior veterinary experience and her thoughtfulness can’t be beat. She was patient and attentive with our blind, senior dog with a tendency for mild separation anxiety through the firework-heavy holiday weekend. She made time for a meet and greet and followed our instructions to a T. She also went above and beyond with a few chores before she left. Thank you, Lois!!

Arizonia and her daughter Lilly were so wonderful with our cats- they played and cuddled with them a lot and housesat for us for 6 days, 5 nights. The house was clean when we got back and they even had made us chocolate chip cookies, which were delicious, to welcome us home- such a nice touch. Highly recommend.

We’re so grateful to have Rachel—this is her third time watching our two pups, and every time they are so well cared for and completely spoiled in the best way. She always makes sure they get plenty of treats, walks, and quality hangout time (they love their time with “Aunt Rachel”!). Not to mention, Rachel provides daily check ins with pictures or videos multiple times a day we never miss out on their adventures with Aunt Rachel. We feel totally at ease leaving them with her, and at this point she truly feels like part of our dog family. Highly recommend!

Chervyn helped with a relatively last minute sit during the holiday period. She was proactive, detail-oriented, and easy going with our shy old lady dog. Appreciated her updates throughout the stay as well. I will be reaching out to her for any future dog sitting needs going forward!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 8,019 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Federal Way. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Federal Way walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Federal Way maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Federal Way choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Federal Way. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
