“Ella went above and beyond for my two kitties, I was gone for ten days and she stopped by and gave them love and then sent a very detailed report of her visit along with tons of photos. This was much appreciated as we missed our fur babies. We will be using her again. Thanks Ella!”

“Great availability and great with our big obnoxious dog and our small obnoxious cat! Repeat customer and will definitely keep hiring her. (Jamie if you’re reading this I’m so sorry I forgot to finish and tip until now!!)”

About: I am a University of Notre Dame alumn working remotely from Burlington Vermont. I grew up with family dogs of all different personalities and energy levels, from high-energy Jack Russells to affectionate English Springer Spaniels and Boxers. Being around dogs my whole life has made me comfortable adapting to different routines, temperaments, and exercise needs. As I start thinking about adding a dog of my own, I’d love the opportunity to spend time caring for dogs in my community and give them the same attention, affection, and care I’d want for my own. I currently work fully remote from my apartment in Burlington Vermont. I spend most of my free time outdoors, going for walk by the waterfront, biking, golfing, and hiking. I look to fit in client walks throughout the work day and after work. I know how important it is to feel confident that your pet is in good hands. I’m attentive to each pet’s individual routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, bathroom breaks, and any specific instructions from their owner. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of both the pet’s space and the home itself, and I do my best to keep things consistent so your pet feels comfortable and secure while you’re away.
“Cheyenne did a meet and greet prior to, she was reliable, sent updates and pictures and left everything very neat and clean. We are very happy with how she cared for our cat and we will certainly keep her in mind for the future.”

“Bianca was kind and came by beforehand for a rundown, which was much appreciated! She is clearly a cat person who is dedicated to her pet sitting commitments. I removed a star because she had a last minute mix up with her work schedule and texted us the morning we were leaving to let us know she could not come within the agreed upon time window, which left us scrambling calling neighbors and friends asking for backup. She ended up getting her work schedule moved around to make it work, which we really appreciated, but she was not able to stay the full 30 minutes at that time. This delayed us leaving on our trip by about two hours, which was a challenging start for us. With that being said, we really appreciated Bianca going above and beyond to get her work schedule moved around when things went awry.”

“If you need a phenomenal pet sitter, Ashton is the one! Absolutely incredible service from start to finish. My fur babies were totally obsessed, and getting such great updates everyday made being away so much easier. 10 out of 10, would recommend!”

About: I have been my friends and some families go to house and pet sitter for a very long time. While I mostly have experience with cats and dogs I like to take care of all pets. I like to take pictures to catch the funny moments. While I am in school this give good flexibility for dropins/walking and overnight stays letting me easily fit into you and your pets schedule. While I can't take care of your pet in my home, I can do house sitting and dropins/walks. I am familiar with complex nutrition requirements for different animals as well.
About: I will provide a on-the-ready daycare/check-in service. Check in's will include play time engagement, spending time with them if they have been alone, walks, administer medicine if need be, and overall quality check in. I can provide these services at a moments notice with being local to Burlington, and can also provide these services over an extended period of time to suite your schedule. Daily check in's can last anywhere from 30 mins to one hour, depending on your needs. I work full time but my schedule is flexible. I have watched and cared for multiple family friends cats and dogs since my teens, as well as now helping colleagues watch their pets while traveling out of town. My experience ranges from the simple check in's; walks, playtime, feeding - to administering shots, ear spray, tic and flea medicine, etc. I currently work a hybrid schedule Mon-Thurs in office and half-day Fridays from home, moving back to full-day Friday's from home come fall. Even when in office, my schedule is flexible and I am out of work by 4pm, and can step out quick if need be throughout the day, making sudden pop-in visits easy for me. And making scheduled visits even easier. I live on a quieter street and my apartment is set back from the road, giving peace of mind when out on walks or in the yard. Crating is always an option if you are more comfortable and familiar with that.
“Sage is a wonderful sitter. She watched my cats for 10 days—every day I received a wonderful story about what she did with them. I can tell they were in good hands.”

About: I’ve been pet sitting since I was 10 years old, and was known as the “neighborhood” sitter. This required responsibility managing time from a young age and helping care for cats, dogs, rodents, and even horses! I would be happy to provide services before work early in the morning, on my lunch break, or in the evening. On the weekends I am mostly around and willing to help care for your pets! I have a shy rescue dog, and so I’m very aware that dogs can read energy. My goal is to never frighten or shock a dog, and from the beginning interactions I will do my best to have a calm and welcoming demeanor to keep your pets happy!
“Christine is very sweet and kind. She was very gentle with my 15 year old girl and accommodating to her needs. She is very prompt with scheduled times almost to the minute. I trust Christine fully and am confident in the care she gives to my precious girl!”

“Josh was absolutely brilliant. Extremely professional, responsible and reliable. Great communicator with humans and animals alike (lots of fun photos while we were away). He looked after our two cats for 4 days and we couldn't have been happier. When we returned home our cats were calm, well-fed and happy - food dishes were washed and litter box area was tidy. Josh will be my first choice from now on when we have to leave our cats next time.”
“We are so thankful to have found Mallory to care for our two, 8 month old cats! We've had a number of health issues with both of them since adoption which has required us to be close to home and forgo any overnight trips out of town including over the Holidays. We decided to take a chance with finding someone to care for them during a 3 day trip over the kids Feb vacation and chose Mallory based on her experience caring for sick kitties. She was so kind and thorough in learning what their needs were at our meet & greet that we were immediately assured that we were in good hands. During our trip she communicated with us at each visit regarding their feedings, digestive issues, and overall well being. She was patient with their needs and also spent extra time playing & cuddling with them which really put the kitties at ease. Upon returning it felt like we had only been out for the afternoon and it was obvious that the kitties had grown attached to her in the short time we were away. We feel like we've hit the jackpot in finding Mallory and will continue to utilize her gentle expertise not just for trips away but for wellness checks as well. We can't thank her enough and feel lucky that we now have someone to provide care above and beyond a neighbor popping in. Thank you Mallory!”

About: Senior pets have a special place in my heart. I’ve had pets my whole life, growing up with two dogs, (A golden, named princess and a Vizsla, named Ruby Rose) and a handful of kitties whom I’ve loved till their 9th life. I am comfortable with administering medications, following specific diets, and attending to your pet’s unique quirks and specificities! I have dog-sat for friends and neighbors over the years, and I also pet sit on Trusted House Sitters I’m off work this summer, so pet care fits easily into my day! Mornings, afternoons, evenings, whatever works best for your pet’s routine. I focus on keeping your pet’s routine as normal as possible: same feeding schedule, same walk times. I’m attentive to details like locking doors and gates, keeping food/water fresh, and watching for any signs of stress or illness. I treat your home with the same care and respect I’d want for my own
“Courtney was so kind and patient taking care of our shy cat while we were out of town. Our cat was even comfortable enough to come out and start asking for attention by her third visit! Courtney takes great photos and writes very nice cards for each drop in. I would recommend Courtney especially for cats that take some time to open up to new people 😊”

“Reed did a great job taking care of our cats on pretty short notice. He came over ahead of time to meet them, fed them as instructed, spent extra time brushing them, sent pictures, and took the initiative to return our key after we got back, which we had not set up with him. Very responsible and reliable.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Essex Junction
Taite took such good care of our kitties! We had such peace of mind knowing Taite was looking after them while we were away. She was responsive and communicative. Our very skittish cat was so comfortable with her, even letting her pet him. Thanks for helping him get out of his shell.

Brooke was fantastic with our dogs, Roux and Jelly Bean\! We were away for nearly a week, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such caring and capable hands. She took great care of them, handled Jelly Bean’s medications without any issues, and kept us updated throughout our trip. We came home to two happy, healthy, and well-cared-for dogs, and our house was just as we left it. Brooke is dependable, kind, and clearly loves animals. We wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.

Alexandra took great care of our homestead the week we were gone. She watched our two working maremma sheepdogs, 14 goats, 20 chickens, and two indoor housecats. She took exceptional care of everyone and sent us regular updates and pictures while visiting. Highly recommend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
